I participated as well. My goal was to obtain waist length hair and I did!!! I began the challenge at bra strap length and right from the beginning was faced with severe hair loss and breakage due to moving to a new area with hard water. I persevered with the regimen, adjusting it as needed. My official measured growth was like 3 or 4 inches, but I will say that it was more like 6 inches because I cut my hair twice during the challenge due to SEVERE split ends and like yourself, I had some longer strands that grew to my tailbone!!! Of which I had to cut due to the breakage issues. My hair is much stronger now. More hydrated now and my curls are now consistently popping!!!!😀 I haven't measured recently. I will soon then post pics! I haven't put any heat on it to see it stretched. I know that my curls hang longer now but IDK if it's due to the hydration or growth, or both. So I'm curious to find out. Thank you so much for sharing your insights! My hair is FOREVER changed. I'm finally loving it now!!!

Hi ! So far , I am only two months into my hair journey which is extremely challenging . I do not have the good stuff !! What I want to say to you to encourage you and to build your confidence is that working with OUR hair has to be taken with patience and with the faith that thought & knowledge in the brain grows with time . It amazes me that what I was thinking 2 mth ago is very different from what I was thinking & how I was feeling back then . I know what I am doing now !! My hair is going to submit to what I am doing and it is going to be the texture , length, and thickness that I want . We are the captain of our ship . We have to draw up our own plans & proceed on our journey . Peggy

I would like to see (not that you asked but you did mention you needed some inspiration 😌), 1) an updated video on how you trim your hair, 2) a summer versus winter products and techniques/routine video and 3) a video outlining some of the best advice you’ve received from your grandmother (I think she is/was a beautician/hairdresser??). Anyway, I hope we see you again soon!

Yes more challenges! It helped me realize the importance of a good hair care regimen. I don’t want to take biotin, so I took a liquid collagen & I saw a difference and it only cost abt $12 for a months supply of taking it once daily. And I LIVE for that wild growth oil!! Literally one of the best things I’ve ever used on my hair and scalp. It’s bomb. Thanks for the update sis!

Melissa Denise lol that’s so funny abt your mom! I actually put my mom on to the oil (I do her hair) and her hair FLOURISHED! Like I’m tryna figure out how I got her hair to grow from shoulder length to mid back and MY hair is still at shoulder length. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ I CAN’T lolol And thanks for responding!!!☺️☺️ .. a lot of YTrs don’t do that and it makes it seem as if they don’t care abt us subbies.

I cut my hair into a tapered cut in February but since then my hair has basically grown back I’ve grown just over 2 inches of length. Sticking to a consistent routine and doing protective styles like mini twists and braids has allowed me to retain a lot of length. My goal by the end of the year is to grow another 3 inches 👍🏾.

Yes, another regimen. My hair grew about 3 inches but I got slack. I started washing it every 2 weeks starting month 3. It was a lot to keep up. I could tell a great deal in breakage. Very little. My hair was strong. Never took the biotin. I did pics even on how much hair loss after blow drying. I need to start over. I colored my hair last year and realized I am no retaining as much as I thought.

My guess is that it mimics sebum. With curly hair, the sebum that the scalp produces doesn’t travel as effectively to the ends. So the ends miss out on the lubrication. Oiling the ends helps. I’ve never heard of putting baggies just on the ends, tho, but get if it works, rock on.

I have not touched mines in like 4 months and have been wearing scarfs over it and no growth. i did not wash it or perm it put heat to it or oil it. I am trying different ways to see what my hair wants and its tough. I know ill be off topic hear but I thank God that blk women don't get criticised like we use to for wearing wigs because they have wigs with our type of hair.

I understand being in the trail and error phase but it is still important to keep your hair oiled, hydrated and moisturized. Doing absolutely nothing to it might be doing more bad than good. Keep experimenting...you're going to find out what works best for you!!! For sure grateful to live in a time that we do! xox

I can truly understand that...yes I'm a woman over 45 yrs and I was going to an electrolysis to remove hair from my chin area...and she was the one that told me that biotin does cause your hair to grow...not only on your head but on your body too. Including your face. Once I slowed up on it my facial hair did slow up in growth too. I would suggest checking with your pcp to be sure. Either way I wish you the best. Let me also say I was taking it internally. Now the drops may be fine.
