    @@TriniGirlNatural Thicker hair, more elasticity, grew about an inch in a month too, but results vary depending on hair porosity and protein sensitivity. I love it! I used a really terrible shampoo the last time I washed my hair, but the moment I put the rice water on (I do it in between shampoo and conditioner), there was an immediate difference. Made my hair so damn soft! Like, my strands felt so stripped from that shampoo, and the rice water was dehydration salvation! Love it. ;)

    I was using it twice a week. Once when i cleanse and once when I cowash in the middle of the week since I work out. I drench my hair in it and let it sit for at least 20-30 mins then rinse it out. I definitely rinse my rice at least once before I make the water. But I did here the more you rinse it, the more nutrients you wash away.

    Does it leave a smell behind after its rinsed out? How does the hair feel afterward? Does is feel like a protein treatment was done or does it feel soft?

    I found this on one of the hair websites about rice water. Not sure how accurate it is. -You don’t want to use this consistently if you have protein sensitivity. -It is not a moisturizer even though it makes hair feel soft, so don’t skip your regular moisturizer. -It’s not for everyday use as overuse can form a film that coats the hair and makes it brittle. -Consistency is key when working with rice water. blackhairinformation.com/growth/hair-growth/accelerated-hair-growth-hack-rice-water/

    I started doing the rice water method towards the beginning of the year as well as herbal tea rinses. I have an abundance of herbs and I make my own tea rinses for every wash day. I decided it was a good idea to just do both treatments at the same time so I put rinsed rice and herbs in a mason jar, allow my keurig to dispense hot water on them and I let them ferment until my next wash day. I wash my hair two times a week so that is normally every 3-4 days. I also think this is better because it helps the rice water to not smell as putrid. My sister is pregnant and when I would do the regular rice water treatment on my hair she would complain about the smell in the shower. Since I started incorporating my herbs I haven't heard any complaints. I have noticed a lot of new hair growth since using this on a regular basis, I apply to it freshly shampooed hair and before I add in my deep conditioner. Then I sit with the bonnet dryer for at least 25 minutes, I like to think that it is penetrating into my scalp. I was surprised how long my hair has gotten recently and I think this treatment has a lot to do with it. Even my family has commented that my hair looks a lot longer. Recently I switched to brown rice and I noticed I had a hair growth spurt. Not sure if that made a difference but my hair has definitely gotten longer since I last checked my hair length.

    @@amakaokaro5045 I apologize for the late response. I have tried a lot of different herbs and after doing some research I realized are better for my actual health if I drink them in a tea. However, the herbs I enjoy using the most include Hibiscus flowers (Sorrel), Catnip, Lavender flowers, Mint leaves, Nettle, Sage, Rosemary, and Fenugreek seeds. I noticed a big decrease in hair loss when I started to use the Fenugreek seeds on a regular basis in my rice + herb rinse. When I do add them it makes the rinse feel very slippery. What I do to not waste the herbs is everytime I sift the herbs and rice from the water to do my rinse I reuse the herbs and rice in the jar at least once to two times more. That is because these herbs can still contain a lot of good vitamins and tannins even after sitting in the water for a few days. Since I wash my hair twice a week I reapply hot water after pouring out the treated water. The smell does not bother me.

  • @naz337

    @naz337

    5 жыл бұрын

    ToHoo Childe high and medium porosity loves protein, but for low porosity its prone to being quite sensitive to proteins. i would suggest if you have medium or high to keep the rice rinse in for however long you wish (45 mins +) and do the rice water rinse maybe every 2-3 weeks! for low i would suggest doing it once or twice a month to avoid protein overload and hair loss; also keep the rinse in only for around 30 to 40 mins. you can look up a few videos to determine your porosity levels if you haven't already.

    Thanks for such concise, relevant info, MD! I had some hair loss/thinning, so I thought the rice water treatment might help - and it did! I have high porosity hair and the length is to the middle of my back. The bottom 4 inches were thinned out and my curls were becoming limp due to heat damage (was daily using heat on my hair🤦🏽‍♀️) and a minor health problem. My health prob is not resolved yet, but the rice water is working beautifully. I sprayed the fermented rice water on my hair instead of using regular water each morning. Then, I used a detangling comb and passed a Denman brush thru my hair/scalp. I never rinsed it out and just continued to use rice water each morning and a few times in the evening when I needed to freshen it up for going out. For styling it, I used a boar bristle brush to sweep it back into a banana clip (loosely clipped to prevent breakage) and wore it as a curly ponytail. I used a TINY bit of gel on the top of my hair to keep the shorter hairs down, and even after one day I saw a big difference in how soft my hair was without any other products on it. No curling cream, no conditioner, nothing but rice water. It left my hair feeling baby- soft and my curls were revived! Now, 7 days later the improvement is remarkable. One thing to note - I fermented the rice water for 48 hours. Also, the 1st time is tried it I didn't add enough bottled water to the fermented rice and that was a disaster. So, if someone tries this and it leaves their hair tangled, hard, and they can't comb thru it, etc. try diluting it more by adding more clear water. Adding a bit more water also made it nearly odorless. I hope this helps others! Thanks again, MD for sharing!

    Ailin Ho Hi. I freeze my rice water in an ice tray then once frozen put them into a labelled jar or bag and back into the freezer. The day before I’m going to wash my hair I defrost 2 for a spray bottle. I do the same for my tea rinses-waste not want not😁

    Rice water rinse is very good I uses it plenty of times but had to stop for awhile because I was using it to much. Rice water have protein in it and to much protein for my hair is not good..so I just started back yesterday. I am going to do my rice water rinse once a month because I do love it, my salon lady cut a lot of my hair off in April by June my hair grew and got thicker. So it really do work

    Do you deep condition after using the rice water rinse? Or deep condition beforehand? Is this also good for relaxed hair? I heard Wild rice or brown organic rice has the most protein.
