Not only do I use essential oils for their natural benefits and to cover up the smell, I Infuse herbs into my water , too. I use sometimes fenugreek seeds, Curry leaves, or basil leaves. Fenugreek seeds, we all know have hair growing benefits, but Curry leaves and basil leaves also are great for hair growth.

Because Jasmine Rice has somewhat of a lighter scent, smells good. It doesn't bare a stronger smell like other rice after fermentation. It's usually what people would recommend if you're worried about smell. Or to just add your favorite essential oils. Sometimes the things that smell worse do help, lol. But I found anytime after 24 hours will make it start baring the 'spoiled' smell.

*MY EXPERIENCE* : So I have been using rice water for about a week now. I recently had in braid extensions so when I took it out my hair was dry and the shedding was real! I did my wash day last week and it didnt show any results but it did help with shedding. My hair was in a puff all week and since the smell was so strong I decided just to spray it on my hair line because since I wore braids all the time when I was younger the braids messed up my hair line so my hairline is pushed back but I still have edges. Anyways so I didnt use it on my hair and I was planning on washing my hair this weekend but since it was in a puff I decided to do it because there was tell residue and whole bunch of stuff. So I'm washing my hair and mind you that I shed like crazy (this is before I sprayed the rice water in) And there IS NO SHEDDING. Very little I would literally have like two golf balls full of hair when I was done with wash day but I had very little shedding. So I decided to deep condition and put rice water on my hair at the same time ( I saw a lady in another video do that) and let it sit for a few hours because that's what I did the last time. I haven't seen any growth yet but rice water is great for detangling, it added a shine in my hair, and my hair did get a lot thicker just not length wise. But I give rice water a thumbs up 👍

I think this rice water thing may be an actual thing 😄 I prepared mine like in the video (minus orange peels/peppermint oil) & I let it sit for days (I was waiting for the fermentation smell). Then I shampooed & applies to my hair for 30 minutes. It left my hair so hard that I declared I wasn’t using it again. A few weeks go by & I look in the mirror & thought to myself, dang my hair is growing! It wasn’t until a week or so later that I remembered I had done the rice water treatment 😂 fast forward a few more weeks & I am now trying it using the boiling method. It was softer applying it to my hair, so I see some growth I think I’ll use the boiling prep method. Just thought I’d share 😁
