Extra-Fancy 20-Shot Pinfire Revolver
(Video reuploaded to removed an allegedly copyrighted still image)

Cool Forgotten Weapons merch! shop.bbtv.com/collections/forg...
The pinfire cartridge was a popular development in Europe in the mid-1800s that never saw much exposure in the United States. A huge variety of pinfire revolvers were made by a myriad of large and small shops, with Liege Belgium being one of the biggest manufacturing centers.
Guns ranged from tiny folding-trigger 5mm models to massive 12mm weapons, with capacities from 5 to 20 shots. This particular one is both mechanically and visually interesting. It is a twin-barrel example, with a 20-round cylinder using chamber in two concentric rings. The inner ring of ten rounds are fired from the lower barrel and the outer ring of 10 rounds are shot through the top barrel. As one cocks and fires, the gun automatically alternates between the two. It is a clever way to get a large capacity without the cylinder become too ridiculously huge. Visually, of course, this revolver is pretty arresting, with its complete coverage of decorative gold embellishing and fancy case.

That's amazing, 20 is still a high capacity for a pistol today! Of course it's hard to find something that makes you look at an M712 (or other high-capacity Mauser) and say "It's much more easily handled!" because this gun is clunky as anything. probably the most interesting gun to me that you have reviewed
there are very fine pores visible on the grip scales, so those and all the black stuff on the accessories are in fact carved very high quality ebony, not molded hard rubber/ebonite or plastic. you can mostly see the pores as longitudinal shiny streaks on the smooth rim of the grip scales, and a little as dimples on the endgrain at the grip's butt end. it's typical for very high quality ebony to have the pores in its heartwood fully filled in with a hard black resin that is visible as shinier than the wood if the wood is finely sanded or lightly worn.

As a work of engineering, guns are among the most intriguing things humanity has ever made, and this revolver just blows me away. Not only is it an example of an engineering feat, but it's also a work of art. I could never fire that gun, it's just too damn pretty. That's a display piece if I ever saw one. I love it.
Can you imagine Ian's descendants in 2100? "Welcome to Forgotten weapons, today we'll be taking a look at a Desert Eagle 50.ae in a very fancy pink tiger stripe keracote.."

“Engravings, give you no tactical advantage whatsoever.”
I have subscribed to your channel for about five years and absolutely love your videos as a gun enthusiast and history major. This pin fire is a excellent example of the valuable service you do for us. My one complaint is that you aren’t as consistent as I would like in sharing the details: caliber, approx. year of manufacture, barrel length, weight, etc. If you don’t know, just tell us. In any case, keep up the excellent work!
"No guns in the 19th century had high capacity magazines"
2:31 I don't think you've ever shown a prettier gun and I've been subbed for years! HooHaa!!
I saw this in a book as a kid. Ehat a great channel to so thoroughly examine such rare firearms to satisfy the curiosity of the public. Ian is the best!
I've always loved this video. Glad it's back up. What a cool weapon.
