EXTERNAL Remote Air Accessibility! *TJM Air System Series Pt 1: Twin Air Compressor*

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In part 1 of a 3 part series, we install the TJM Twin Air Compressor into the Jeep with a remote air kit leading to the outside of your vehicle!
*IMPORTANT UPDATE WHY THE CHUCKS DIDN'T MATCH: TJM USA got a batch from AUS that had Nitto style fittings in the remote air kit. They informed me that it's being fixed so if you order the remote kit and airline hose kit, all the chucks will work with each other.*
We are not certified electricians and thus take our advice at your own risk. IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH ELECTRICAL PLEASE GET YOUR COMPRESSOR INSTALLED BY A CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL.

    You have an outstanding production quality! Your ability to explain complex concepts in a practical and understandable manner is excellent. I can see how this would appeal to a wide audience, especially those who may have been unsure whether they would take on this project as a DIY. Your enthusiasm is unmatched. Keep up the fantastic work!

    FYI, the air coupler through bracket fitting is called a Bulkhead fitting and available in many different sizes. There's inside and outside threads normally so just select what you need based on diameter and NPT thread pitch. They're really useful for through panel mounting. If one needs easy disconnection consider using swivel flare or AN fittings which makes disconnection easy and no messing with Teflon tape or thread sealant. There's some compressor options that are nearly double the output of the A*# and TJM. They do 300LPM vs the TJM 170LPM. They don't have 100% duty cycle though but with the extra air output they're super fast. I have a whole playlist on testing some of them and info for onbard air systems along with some tests for comparison. For that bracket you may be able to use a T-nut. Basically it's a nut with locking pins. Get your size figured out say 1/4-20. Drill your holes where you need them a little bigger. The put the T-nut on the back side then use a 1/4" bolt and washer thread it through hole and start tightening and it will begin to tighten the nut and suck it into the hole. The sharp points dig in and hold it in place. Then remove all bolts place your bracket there and put bolts in and tighten bolts. Not nuts to worry about or hold on back side.

    Bwahaha “persevere” into pushing that like button. Love it dude. 😂🤙 Heck yeah brother, on board air is the way for sure. I love my ARB but I may have went to TJM for an air compressor had they been in the States when I got mine. I ❤️ their recovery gear! And bro, tell me about it, it was such a PIA lining/wiring up my compressor too. But… “the more you know…”, ya know? Lol. Does TJM offer steel braided air lines? I also did an exterior quick release mount point and yeah man, it’s soooo convenient. Drilled mine through the rear bumper. Love it I still need to mount my air tank. Wanted to wait until the drawer system was done before I mounted it so thanks for the motivation man! 🙏🤙 I’m curious what you notice about having the air tank vs none if possible? Only think I’ve heard is what’s nice is the air tank has a purge valve so after high usage you can clear out moisture and condensation avoiding rust/water buildup in the compressor which of course is a good thing!

    Oh man steel braided lines would be awesome! But no they don't offer it. Haven't tested yet with or without air tank but I should. I also need to empty the tank to prevent condensation. That's what I do with my pancake compressor in the garage after every use. I'm installing the single now and it's going much smoother

    I love the honesty with your installs. Sadly the links in the description take you to the TJM site but the product pages are dead. For the pro series twin and the tank anyway. That's unfortunate for a company trying to break into new markets.

    Do you require a drain valve/hose for the air tank? I just got mine installed and my thoughts are exactly like yours. Making that wire harness was a b***tch! and getting those bolts into the bracket was not nice. Anyhow, like always great and informative videos!

    Can you leave the 18AWG wire out when making up the power? No need for it?

  • @BaptismOverland

    @BaptismOverland

    5 ай бұрын

    If I'm understanding your question correctly and we are talking about the same wire here, that wire is just to illuminate the switch and needs to go to an ignition source so it lights up when you turn the vehicle on. I don't need it to be lit up full time. It already lights when I flip the switch. There's another 18AWG wire that DOES need to be installed to an ignition though as that triggers the relay to turn on the compressor

    ALSO I spoke with my friend who has ARB Twin and pretty much same thing. Requires larger gauge wires and if you're gonna mounting far from battery you'll need to fabricate the same kind of harness.

    And like I said I LOVE ARB. I rock a lot of their stuff. But I've also heard a ton of horrible stories about their compressors and it needing to be fixed after a few uses etc. Not saying this one won't have those problems too...time will tell.
