The NBA should address this issue with their voters, rule out what is the standard for a candidate in terms of games played. I see many of the voters mind the number of games for their individual awards, but care less about that when they vote for an All-NBA team. It's very important to the NBA to address properly who's elegigle for a vote and who isn't. Like Steph got many votes for all NBA but less for MVP due to the missed games.
@Chocolouf
4 жыл бұрын
The thing is, the NBA's goal isn't the beauty and sake of the sport of basketball, it uses it in order to make money, plain and simple. The NBA wants and relies on those sport journalists and writers to create biased narratives in order to keep itself in the media itself, but the media also relies on the NBA to fill their columns. They are in bed together, and have to create fake overblown interest and drama in order to draw fans' money and attention.
@thiagortins
4 жыл бұрын
@@Chocolouf I see you, but what's does it have to do with players been voted for awards they shouldn't won? I mean, what the NBA gains with this? Look and see, in the media the discussion for MVP always is about who deserve it for the season, and if a player doesn't play that much games he shouldn't be in the "Conversation". In the other end this voters feel more comfortable voting in the All-NBA Teams concerning their individual preference (see D Wade example), without caring the same for their MVP ballots (he didn't get any MVP voters). This is the double standard that's pointed out in the video (excluding voters that vote for their affiliated local franchise). It's a great discussion man, it's nice to talk basketball.
@dragonn935
4 жыл бұрын
@@thiagortins I think the NBA uses the MVP award as a marketing tool, to sell it's new superstars. You can argue that a lot of these years LBJ could've been the MVP but there is voters fatigue, didn't he win it 4 out of 5 years from 2009 till 2013? He doesn't need the MVP anymore because he is already established himself as a superstar, neither does Curry, so they use it to push the next gen, Gannis, Harden, Westbrook, etc.

It’s called quality over quantity! Thanks bro! The truth!
the voters selecting people on the team they cover makes sense because they watch them more than anyone else and can appreciate the nuances more that’s why they balance it out by diversifying the voters
Please expose how players can win DPOY but not make first team all defense ie gasol and Tyson chandler. Voters are revising history without even being acknowledged
THEY ALL NEED MILK
all this man does is spit 100% facts
I really think these media people are thinking "fit" when it comes to building their defensive lineup. Like, for example, Gary Washburn thinks Steven Adams is a better defender than Andre Drummond, but he might also think Andre Drummond is a better player overall which is why he chose him over Adams on that team. But doing that defeats the point of all-defensive team...
Happy to see you back!
Your absolutely right and reporters that are not beat writers have no excuse but you have to expect beat writers to be homers as they have to talk to theses players and as everyone who follows the NBA the players in this league have the thinnest skin in pro sports. But they to have no excuse for making a statement non pick like Mark Berman saying Ben Simmons is not a rookie but some how he’s on both rookies lists. If his point is he’s not a rookie than don’t put him on any rookie list. Great work as always.
The problem is that voters cannot back up their opinions
Adam Silver should watch your videos ♥
So you say that Flavio Tranquillo gave Jayson Tatum his only 2nd place ROTY vote yet on the exact same slide Marc Berman gave him a 2nd place ROTY vote. Am I missing something?
@BasketballExamined
4 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for pointing that out, I don't know how I missed it. The slide is correct, Marc Berman and Flavio Tranquillo were the *2* voters that gave Jayson Tatum a 2nd place ROTY vote.
Can you do a video on the “Ewing Theory”
Hold them accountable
2 videos in 4 days!!!! Am I dreaming😇😇😇
I want to these same videos about Kobe's prime years 🤞🏻
The way to fix this is to have voters vote through an app that lists qualified players based on agreed on criteria (games played, win shares, average, etc.) and if you want to "write in" someone else, then you have to justify it when all votes are reviewed either by all voters or a 3rd party (coaches, consultants, etc.). Also, if you vote in a forward for 2nd in MVP, the app would automatically put that player in the All NBA 1st team forward spot for you and if you disagree, then repeat the 1st few steps. Eliminates general human ignorance, bias, and just people being incompetent. It's important because this affects player's money and legacy!!
It’s like they forgot who they chose as DPOY
Another great job at demanding accountability from these media shills.
10:29 Is Bill Simmons cut-off point between 51-56 games? Considering you need to play a minimum of 55 games to be eligible for the MVP award (for which he also has a vote), I assume he applies this standard to all awards. Obviously, I can't read minds, I just feel like it's a logical extrapolation on my part. I just thought it was worth mentioning. I do enjoy your content and vids. Keep 'em coming!
What's great about these videos is that it shows that the writers who vote on these awards are incredibly biased. The super weak argument the media uses when anybody questions why hall of famers don't vote on these awards is that they're "biased" even though the writers are even more biased
I feel like a lot of these voters don’t watch much of the season and just pick names that seem cool.
These same people robbed d12 for his dpoy when chandler and gasol won it
@chrismathgenius
4 жыл бұрын
Well the Lakers were not elite in 2013 and Dwight Howard was not at his best then, but he has a case to win it in 2012.
The only thing that makes this somewhat explicable is if they were given the ballots at different times. In itself which doesn't make sense in itself
why isn't there an all defensive 3rd team
I think it would be quicker to just point out the consistent voters
Lol Roberson may have only played 39 games but he’s lockdown
all awards should be voted by players and coaches, not biased media
Yo I love your channel but I wish you did more basketball analysis videos instead of these “exposed” videos. I think many of us would like you to break down film on players and teams.
@Chocolouf

These are necessary, as the media slowly but surely has taken the league hostage for their narrative. Why hasn't Stephen Curry won the FMVP in 2015 when his numbers were better than during regular season ? Because they all campaigned for us to believe he underperformed and look at LeBron losing to him thanks to Iguodala's defense, which was great, but Steph battled for his numbers too and his 14-15 playoff scoring average was his second best in his career at 28 ppg.

These videos are more important he is the only channel exposing these so called journalists.
The only explanations outside of office/media politics is that they don't want players to double dip and get those who would have gone under the radar a spotlight. Doesn't make it right but that's a theory.

@Chocolouf

But all those votes takes away rewards and accomplishment, which are forever enshrined in the voted players' career, from players, especially at the SG position like Klay Thompson. Klay is a formidable elite 2-way player, but offensive only players like Kyrie Irving and Russel Westbrook, who didn't perform well enough during the 17-18 season, will get rewarded thanks to these media shills overemphasizing offense at the expanse of defense. Hence, why lots of fans think defense is weaker now than 20 years ago, when it isn't true at all.
There's an assumption you're making in your analysis that I disagree with. That being that "best" and "most valuable" are interchangeable terms. I would argue that it is possible for a slightly worse player to be more valuable to their team than a slightly better player depending on other factors. One example from the video that sticks out is Giannis being more valuable to his team than Durant due to how stacked Durant's team was, despite Durant being the marginally better player that season. P.S. Love your videos.
Journalist are so slimy

it's not that simple. For example, some writers cover regions, not just teams. Are you going to ban a writer in LA from voting for anyone on the Lakers and Clippers? How's that fair? Or how about international writers? are you going to ban them from voting for anyone from their countries?
👍👍👍👍👍
Its their opinion relax. You stay having issues with "non popular" opinions. They have the right to pick who they want, doesn't make it right but it doesn't change the outcome.
@Chocolouf

It prevents players to receive their due regarding merit and accolade, which are set in stone once these votes are held. Careers are defined by accolades and such accomplishments once players retire. Will people in the future remember how good of a 2-way player SG Klay Thompson was when looking at his All-NBA teams selections when only offensive-minded players are mainly voted for them? How do you expect fans to realise players are defending better than 20 years ago when players like Irving and Westbrook were voted in 17-18 All NBA 2nd and 3rd teams instead of elite 2-ways SG like Klay Thompson, Victor Oladipo and Jimmy Butler ?
