Not so sure about that. Met The Wife on the 19th December, and by Christmas Day we had both decided firmly that we were made for one another. That was 20 years ago, and we are still very much in love. I suppose it helps that we'd both had bad experiences in the past, which makes one a) more careful, yet b) more appreciative. Also helps if you've got similar interests, and similar levels of academic accomplishment.

Crisis therapy, yes, for the depressed woman. For the others, a mirror with a magnifying feature would be enough. They need to put the light on and do some deep self reflecting. Why would anyone expect a prince or princess to come and 'make me happy'? Why do these women choose men like some men choose women: by their age and looks? Where is the love? It comes with honor and trust. I only saw sexual attraction, dreamy clouds, and more than hasty major decitions. Choosing a life partner isn't a walk on the park (nor on the roses) and you can make bad decitions even with the most cautionate attitude. I can not believe that these women are expecting these scammers are going to take responsibility for bills that were incurred during their fraudulent marriages.

These joint account thing is outdated. As a millennial, I am signing a prenup and keeping separate accounts even after I marry someone my age and in the same zipcode. People my age have so many student loans, its just crazy to think you'll just take on their debts. Finances need to be kept separate.

How about because there weren't just red flags BEFORE you married, there were great big signs in flashing lights? Honestly, if he's young enough to be your child, don't walk, RUN. And if you can't bring yourself to DON'T MARRY HIM. Relationships with 20+ yr age gaps invariably fail if one of the people have deluded themselves it's truly a love match. Throw in the younger man being from a second or third world country, with no financial security and there is no chance this is a love match. As a single mature woman who experiences periods of terrible despair from loneliness, my heart goes out to these women. But we all need to take some accountability for our choices when all the signs were so in-your-face there....

Why is she going after a man who abused her to try to get money like he's really going to pay her. She should've called the police.

I've lived in Turkey for 14 years and before that came on holiday here for quite a few years, have sat and watched it all. On my very first holiday in Turkey, Marmaris a very charming male came onto me, he was honest saying he wanted to live in the uk and wanted to marry, but when someone is 15+ years your junior you KNOW its not right, whether theyre upfront about their motives or not.

I watched a programme where they showed classes for men who learn to lure and pick women to scam, they keep files on the ones they manage to get so they can keep up with their stories and what they’ve said so they don’t slip up, they pick older women, larger women, lonely women,they can get so much money and so many items off them. I have a beautiful granddaughter,her father is Nigerian and the amount of people who think that my daughter was scammed for him to stay in the U.K. is ridiculous, he’s a social worker and has been here for over 25 years, and not once been out of work,but because of the situation of men scamming women from abroad it’s giving other men a bad reputation.

The scam you're talking about is "slaughter the pig." It gets its name from the idea of "feeding" the target (pig) and when they've got as much as possible they start the "slaughter" where they'll say that they're going to move in with the pig, get a boatload of money under the pretence of needing travel money, then disappear completely. I think it originates from south Korea but it gets done in parts of China too.

This is what happens when you're desperate for love. Your common sense goes out the door. I'm 60 I've been in some very toxic relationships. I haven't dated now in 15 years I grew a brain stem and realized I don't have to have a man to complete me or give me affirmations. So I stopped dating it's a truly amazing experience. When you finally love yourself you realize a man is not going to complete you you don't need a man's love to feel love you need to love yourself. I decided I was taking a break from dating and before I knew it I was actually hooked on being single lol I will never have to be with a man in order to be happy. I really hope these women realize if you I truly happy being alone maybe they won't search for Love on the other side of the world and perhaps they'll see the first red flag instead of waiting till the 99th. It's like all of these women are living in a fantasy land. It appears none of these women had an ounce of dignity self love pride or common-sense . I really hope they learned their lessons from this. Never ever let a man pull the wool over your eyes use you or take advantage of you again! When I first red flag is shown don't ignore or make excuses for it. We teach people how to treat us never forget that ladies

I agree with all you say. It annoys me when they say they are not looking for love then the moment some cute young man gives them some attention, they are lapping it up. I'm in my 60s, I would be happy if I actually met a compatible companion, but so far, I'm busy and happy being single and being bombarded with texts is enough for me to call a stop to the whole thing - I don't have time for or any interest in all that love bombing!

I believe they're repeating a pattern they've learned in childhood. Or they're trying to cover the wounds of their childhood with dysfunctional relationships. Otherwise it's really inexplicable how someone so old can behave so unwisely.

Don't give ANYONE money if you cant afford to lose it. Not a lover, family member or friend. They can call you stingy but it doesn't matter. Nobody should be even asking you for money you can't afford to give

Ive noticed a common thread in these stories. All the men left the women. None of the women wised up to these scam artists and kicked them out. It seems to me these women didn't care about being used until the guys left them. I would bet most, if not all, would still be with the men had they not left them. Some of these women did this for YEARS!! I think 99% of these women would take their ex's back in a split second. All they (the men) would have to do is give them some b.s. story that they could passify themselves with. I dont believe most of them even cared that they were being used as long as the man was acted in love with her. Yes, these men are total scum, no doubt about it. But these women need to take some damn accountability. The one woman says "he forced me take out loans, and credit cards, now im in debt". He FORCED you??? No, she wanted to keep him happy.
