I was in tehran last year. Travelled a lot in metro. You need bank card to buy ticket. But Iran is completely under sanctions so international cards don't work there. Every time I used metro, I told them that I am a foreigner and don't have local bank card. Every time, they smiled and replied you are our guest and allowed me to pass through for free. I have travelled 25+ countries and hardly ever experienced such hospitality

I've never been but *everyone* that I've talked to who actually visited Iran has basically said that it's their favourite country. We put them under sanctions and so we are their guest? Amazing I've been living in Morocco the last few years and all l have to say is golly, how about that. Many people are much harder here.

@@krollpeter there are many levels of “good living” the more advance ones might be subjected more to personal taste and situations like cultural pursuit (museums, theatre…) or your favourite sport team etc, and then there’s career opportunities, schools, families and hospitals etc, but these days I think most people would settle for safety, affordable housing, food, energy, good public transportation… but to me the best to live for sure was New York in the 90s’ it was a blast and I could walk down the street and be whoever I like without a care.

Tehran's Metro is a bustling hub of activity, filled with people from all walks of life 🚇👫 You'll see business professionals in suits, students with backpacks, families with children, and elderly couples holding hands. The Iranian society in the subway is a true reflection of the diversity and vibrancy of the country. #TehranMetro #IranianCulture #DiverseSociety 🇮🇷 One of the reasons why people are so kind in the Tehran Metro is because there is a strong sense of community and respect for others. People are always willing to give up their seat for someone in need, help a lost passenger find their way, or strike up a friendly conversation with a stranger. It's a wonderful example of the hospitality and warmth that Iranians are known for. #KindnessInIran #MetroEtiquette #CommunitySpirit ❤🌟

The blend od tradition and modernity, comfort and quiet respect of tge people towards eachother, people. It may sound weird, but ine of my first thoughts was "this is probably what Russian subway would look like if Vladimir the Great chose Islam instead of Orthodoxy 😄 It's a big relief for me to see ordinary people living their lives peacefully in a country under so much outside pressure and a very hard history. Iran and its people for me is a collection of the best sides of the Muslim world. The smile never left my face while I watched the entire video! As a Swiss-Iranian I travel often by Metro here in Tehran, I have to say that it is extremely clean and safe and super rapid. Additionally, people are very polite and helpful. Compared to London, Paris or New York, I would say it is much better. Moscow is still the best, because you have a train every 60-90 seconds, very clean as well and the stations inside the first circle line are like museums. In Tehran they should use their Iranian art and every station will be turned into a fantastic place. Sometimes I also had people paying an instrument in the stations or on the train: it was a wonderful concert!

@@markpensarn593 - In the main cities like Tehran, it is relatively common to see woman with no head covering (the majority will have a 'light' covering, like a scarf covering the back of their hair). In more rural, conservative (Islamic) areas this would not be accepted and all woman would be expected to have a head covering. Before 1979, Iran was a very modern cosmopolitan, liberal country. The Islamic revolution of '79 made it an Islamic republic and quite conservative. But the large population centres like Tehran maintain a healthy degree of liberty and freedom. In Tehran most woman dressed in a western style (with no head covering) would not be pestered at all. But if they moved out to rural areas, the local Police may instruct them to use a head covering.

He was a professor at a university, the people there were very nice and I hope I can go back again to continue visiting the wonderful places Iran has.

France and Iran indeed have a long history of cultural exchange and mutual appreciation, despite any political differences that may exist. It's heartening to see how people from different parts of the world can connect and appreciate each other's cultures and histories. Iranian women have not only been forced to veil but have been forbidden from dancing or singing solo in public, riding a bicycle, attending matches in sports arenas, becoming judges or president. They must sit at the back of the bus and can travel abroad only with their husband's. And LGBTQ+ people can be executed just for being who they are and want to love. That's NOT a civilized society. It's tyrannical.

What a brilliant video! A great idea to depict everyday life in the city by filming a journey on the metro. This shows the vital importance of travel for understanding the world as it really is.
