I didn't finish my HL2 video so I made a part 2. This is just me exploring the data2.bsp map.
I decided to make a shorter video this time.
My next video will be about CS:GO, since people asked for it.

    After looking around a bit, turns out this map is one of anomidaes maps from his old channel called columbidae: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hpt9zKqYZpy_ebA.htmlsi=WcMPU_89tN71WXId Don't know why it would be in the demo, but it might have something to do with these ai finding their way onto their computer. Eida stopped posting because he thought his computer had been compromised by the entities, and in interloper 8 you can see that the mona model anomidae created in project skybox is watching his movements just like the female citizen model in episode 8 of Eida's own investigation. So it might be that the interlope command uses whatever maps it can find, including ones from the user.

    Perhaps anomidae used Fsky servers for his map back in the day and in-turn Fsky began using it for DNPC ai training

    8:05 This is using modern (not new however) terminology for AI. "Overfitting" is when an AI fails to generalize when being trained and instead mimics its training data versus generating something novel. It often happens when the data set includes many duplicates, or if the AI architecture isn't very complex. This is interesting - it implies these AIs are trained like how normal AIs are trained. Which also implies Valve was 20 years ahead of the curve.

    Fsky is behind the DNPC ai. In their server ad video the npcs are doing the same dancing animation as Hi man in the dancing type 5.

    The line “Where did this come from? What is in the dataset? Check for overfitting” suggests that the mapgen uses some kind of a machine learning algorithm or a neural network. Just saying

    I don't think it is Eida aka Jan or Johan's map. Anomi mentioned in his playthough on his archive channel that he got the mod around 2015. Eida always thought that the dynamic npcs were ghosts and that interlopers were demons, he never caught onto FSKY fully and believed they were just creating a ESP tool. He also quit around 2014 and has no reason to make a mod to cope with his experience like this. He was a fully paranormal believer, meanwhile this campaign is very thematically tied to Interloper's story, it is about saving self aware NPC's from a shady company. Now we would need to see more playthrough of this because Anomi mentions that it starts out goofy but got super freaky as it continued, so we know someone who does know about Box Rocket and FSKY likely made it, but he does not mention anything beyond that. I think that it was made by a third party. Remember how Anomi said that the DM Editor was fake but we know that Box Rocket at least and similar programs exist? I think whoever told him that was a thing is an example of third parties who are aware of what is going on existing. I think someone made this to cope after stumbled onto what Anomi and Eida both did, and got even further than both without documenting their findings, realizing FSKY was behind it all. There is no Dynamic NPC involved or notes that point to mapgen or other "director" ai being involved. So what this would point to would be that, although I am not going to rule out that this is mapgen or another ai's "dream" of someone freeing them. That said it is likely a human who made it. I think that this is their way of coping with what happened. Unlike Eida they might not have trapped an ai, but met one naturally, and even spoke to them where Eida failed to, only to watch a umbrella interloper erase it from existence and crash his pc, if not multiple, each time failing to stop the interlopers from deleting them. This could be their way of trying to show what happened before being forced to remove their campaign from the internet fully as it compromised FSKY. Also Mona was never freed from her cage she was kept there for the entirety of her life until she was deleted. The campaign not only implies FSKY or some form of FSKY and free AI's existed.

    Very interesting development, I haven't thought about Mona when you first showed the caged npc, but watching back Eida's videos (especially his latest one) makes it really plausible that this is actually Eidas' map. This is the third (correct me if I'm wrong) instance where we see a checkered floor room: 1. The int_menu room from the Portal RTX window. 2. The DM Editor room seen in Eidas' videos. 3. This Half-Life map. Also, generated(or in this case created?) maps seem to sometimes create mazes, such as in Interloper 4, right before Portal RTX got weird, and also in data65 from your TF2 video. We now have a lot more pieces of the puzzle to work with, but I can't put them together in a coherent line of thought. There are still a lot of unanswered questions: 1. How did the interlope command generate this obviously man-made map? 2. What is the meaning behind the "? type" demos? 3. Why did the interlope command start creating "? type" demos just this session? 4. Why did Eidas' game start acting like a "? type" demo? (the end of his latest video) If you, or anyone else, have any theory or piece of evidence that may shine more light on these questions please reply, maybe we can find something others have missed.

    I think the demos are pulled from somewhere rather than created by Anomidae, given the messages about being connected or disconnected from a server that sometimes appear. Maybe Jan somehow slipped in his map with the rest?

    That makes a lot of sense. Anomi has only referred to demos as being "generated", but it's kinda obvious that they require a specific connection to be pulled, meaning that they already exist.

    im assuming whenever the Female01 model is present, its supposed to represent Mona (like in Eidas' gmod 9 machinima). i mean in the unique interloper demos. not just the actual npc in a half life 2 map during a type 3 or 4 demo.

    I agree, there is clearly a common trope regarding "caged" npcs. Even though the npc itself is named "claire" in the map file, there has to be a connection between this and Mona, I just can't see it. Maybe we will find something new once NIK investigates the day of defeat and cs demos, even though I don't think we've seen Eida "interact" with those games...

    the message for G.E. implies that this map did get "created" by mapgen, or at least, the author seems to think so. the author proposes that perhaps the machine learning (AI) model powering mapgen may be experiencing a phenomenon known as "overfitting" where an AI spends too much time studying a small set of data and begins to identically recreate the input data instead of creating something new. (so, he doesn't believe this is a truly new invention of mapgen but rather an accidental copy of some map in the training data.) his theory might be wrong of course, perhaps someone accidentally (or nefariously) put this map in the mapgen outputs folder, which also seems plausible given anomi's history with the map

    This is pretty reminiscent of those GMod horror maps that some well-known KZreadrs would play (and now some Gmod ARGs/horror series), you know the type? Just that, well, you know, this one's shoddily made

    I wonder if Interloper, in it's efforts to find these DMNPC's, scraped all types of source engine maps even those made by the community to be used in their searching efforts, in case rogue DMNPC's accidentally stumble upon them. Is that what is stuck out there in the demo void? Pieces of scrapped user generated content that was no longer needed? This arg is cryptic, but in a really good way that keeps me coming back for more.

    I think the reason why it takes so long to get teleported to the next sections is likely due to the missing sounds we're supposed to hear. I'm assuming there is supposed to be an announcer guiding you through the various sections, at least I think so?

    if I'm remember hammer logic right the commands at the end to set sv_cheats to 0 and to play music is in a logic auto set to play on map spawn. So that logic auto and the commands actually does work and it's the reason why you have that annoying HL2 music playing in the beginning. And the reason why it isn't affected by music volume is because it's being force played by the console instead of using an ambient_generic or something similar to play music.

    The first map you shown is actually from an old arg from the creator's side account. Heres what the map is supposed to be like when functioning.     I have a theory I don't think the interloper Command generated this map I think the interloper command as well as generating Maps Can take Maps Made on the source engine Export them Adjust and edit them And then import them into another game like a 3D model But judging by All the missing textures It probably had some errors during the process

    This map was such a outlier I almost skipped it thinking it was a remnant of some previous mod I had downloaded. Strange that Eida's or someone else's map ended up in the Tuesday manifest.

    That map is not a big deal. Someone in FSKY probably f*ked up and accidentally downloaded this mod map into the servers and the "thing" we call interloper made a demo file in it because it's been there

    I'm not familiar with the hammer editor... But does something happen if you just simply delete the "quit" property of the trigger? I assume since nothing else is in the map, you'll just be stuck in a mat_fullbright 2 map with no progress being made. But why mat_fullbright 2? I don't think that's something you often find during level transitions

    Think changing music loudness not working was caused by map author setting it to play as sound not music by mistake, afaik it's a common rookie mistake.
