Expansion of the Göktürk Empire | The Celestial Turks Episode 2

In the second episode of the eponymous documentary series, we are going to explore the immediate aftermath of the foundation of the Göktürk Khaganate and take a look at the succession of rule after Bumin's death. Then, we will analyze how Bumin's brother Istemi and Bumin's sons Kara and Mukhan managed to expand the Turkic realm, doubling the Ashina Dynasty's territory within just a decade. As the Turks destroyed the Hephthalite Empire in the process, they also established cordial relations with the merchant-people of Sogdia who - in the name of the Turks - established diplomatic relations with the Byzantine Roman Empire in Europe. But this also brought the Turkic Khaganate into conflict with the mighty Sassanian dynasty in Persia.
As Istemi tried navigating through this complex tapestry of diplomacy and economic espionage and sabotage, his nephew Mukhan invaded Chinese lands for the first time. The 550s and 560s spawned the golden era of Turkic history, but has for far too long been ignored or pushed aside in mainstream media and even academia.
The time has come to put an end to this and explain to you, finally, how and why the Göktürk Empire expanded into virtually all directions and how the Turks massively influenced the fate of the Eurasian Silk Road in the long run.

    Why were they called “celestial”?

  • @KhansDen

    @KhansDen

    4 ай бұрын

    The idea was that they were seen as warriors sent by Tengri, the God in the sky, to unite the Turkic tribes and rule them with success. It's a narrative that the Göktürks' descendants later cultivated themselves. As explained in the first episode, "Gök" originally was pronounced "Kök", and this meant as much as "sky", but also "east" and "original". I do find it unlikely, however, that the Ashina would use a designation such as "eastern" Türks when their ambition was to rule all Turkic peoples; they would degrade their own position and claim. As for the "original", the term Gök Türk was used in the Orkhon inscriptions in a way that makes a clear connection to the Ashina leaders Bumin and Istemi being lucky and blessed, and thus "kök türk". That's why I decided to go with the "Celestial Türk" idea a while ago.

    The descendants of Shem established Islam, and the descendants of Japheth established Christianity. The Mongols were direct descendants of Nimrod, the descendant of Ham. He was a tyrant and hunter who did not establish any religion. Instead, he tended to become a rebel. India and East Asia were Nimrod. Founded by the descendants of Nimrod, the mainstream of the world can also be divided into three parts. Christianity and Islam joined forces to destroy Nimrod, and the descendants of Esau near Central Asia who acted as warriors attacked China and India respectively. Both China and India were defeated by them. Occupation, leaving a large number of Muslims in these countries, Christian countries also attacked them, and also left many Christians. Erdogan’s accent is very similar to Koreans. There are many Christians in South Korea today, and Christianity has little effect on South Korea. , because Koreans are more suitable to be Muslims. Koreans are descendants of Shem after all.

Wenden wir deine Logik mal auf andere Beispiele an. Waren die Deutschen Aramäer, weil sie ihren Kindern biblische Namen gaben? Handelt es sich bei den Persern um Araber, weil sie die arabisch-islamische Religion annahmen?
