Agree with most of what you say except for the skipping, boxers skip differently. It's about footwork, footspeed and coordination, it's really not about flashy moves and impressing people. Those cross-overs and double unders serve a specific purpose of training footwork. It's a part of the sport-specific training, it's not really about building cardio or fitness (though yes it does some of that too.)

What he says about skipping is completely accurate, skipping for footwork is never going to be as specific or transferable as actually boxing. It's no different to soccer players using agility ladders, it looks flashy but at the end of the day it's almost entirely a waste of time.

The person who made that video you were reacting to had no idea what they were talking about in terms of Floyd's power. Floyd was known as a high action power puncher in the first half of his career (at 130 and 135), he had close to a 90% KO rate through his first 30 fights, what happened was Floyd jumped up in weight and at 147 and 154 he was fighting opponents that weighed 20-30 lbs more than him, thats why he stopped KOing his opponents, it's because they were way bigger than him. The hand breaks for sure played a role but the biggest factor was that, like most fighters, Floyd's power lessened as he moved up in weight, but the biggest factor was that Floyd didn't cut weight so he would weigh in at 147 and was still 147 the day of the fight, while his opponents would weigh in at 147 or 154 and the next day would be 175 which made Floyd completely changed the way that he fought and become much more defensive because he was so much smaller than his opponents

Another factor to that is that Floyd's hands were apparently quite fragile and are prone to breaking - an apparent Mayweather family curse from what I hear. So on top of the weight jump and having to deal with weight bullies there's that.

I'm neither a doctor, nor a Mike. But here's some political geography facts: - Russia is freaking huge, yet those assholes apparently still not satisfied. - Dr. Mike is Russian, but moved to the USA at a young age (according to himself). - Older countries have very jagged borders, usually defined by their natural terrain (rivers, mountain ranges, lakes) because it made territorial invasions harder, whereas newer ones (incl. US states) have a lot of straight borders that were drawn on a map upon division (geographical features would still be used when it made too much sense or if wars between the neighbours resulted in territorial gains). - Chad is Chad-shaped (this is more of a meme fact though) - Italy is boot-shaoed - Romania is fish-shaped - Austria looks like a stingray - Tajikistan is deer-shaped - Croatia is trying to eat up Bosnia & Herzegovina - Senegal is almost finished with eating Gambia - Nordic countries are fun: Sweden + Finland look like a flacid cock (Sweden) + scrotum (Finland), Norway + Sweden look like an ejaculating cock + balls, the Fennoscandian Peninsula looks like a dog

It ain’t about the force of his blows, but the speed, precision, and timing. He knows where to hit and when to hit them for maximum impact. Plus, he also has the hand speed to exploit any opportunity he sees. Pinpoint blows to the chin or temple can knockout anyone, no matter how thick your neck is. Mike may know how to defend himself but tough guys only get hurt in the ring. I learned that the hard way with my own body.

The Eccentric is responsible for creating the most damage to the muscle fibers. By athletes avoiding the eccentric or doing exercises that do not have an eccentric load, you can increase work and therefore work capacity without creating unnecessary extra damage. Pushing and pulling a sled is an example of this.

13:47 an issue we can get in youth climbers from certain training programming is injury to the epiphyseal plates of the hands. While climbers are often attentive to injuries to the hand, and we can begin some programming for more appropriate load and volume to the fingers, I expect with boxing there could be repeated stress to growing bone which presents as general discomfort from punching and is therefore not attended to. Could make him more susceptible to stress fractures in the metacarpals or similar, but more susceptible compared to another professional boxer meaning simply some slight attention to this in the programming than a need to box in a different manner. Tremendous volume of pushing over the skill of punching is ridiculous, but you can do the skill and include some supplementary training to help improve the parts the skill cannot. You can buy blackout curtains. Keep your phone on do not disturb and try and limit stimulation. If you’re tired then you should be able to sleep a normal amount if you try and create an artificial “bedtime” environment. I’m a night shift nurse and I generally feel okay with the backwards schedule. I know apparently studies say that it’s really bad for you in the long run, but I also think that it depends a bit on the person. If you can handle the schedule, okay, but if you really can’t and it’s throwing you out of whack, then you might have to try and change your work schedule in some way if possible.

Along with the blackout curtains, another thing you can do to reinforce the rhythm is go outside immediately after waking, go on a walk in the sunlight.

7:00 Correct statement, I quit bodybuilding 8 years ago; I went back in a few months ago (about three months ago), and I'm already physically about half to where I was when I quit, and it is way easier than the first time. I notice a quick and weekly muscle growth. Muscle memory is incredibly powerful; it's almost like I was running a cycle, which I never did. I went from normal to jacked in about three months, like one of those bullshit ads. My main problem now is to avoid being too swift with progressive overload, as I quickly regain strength, but my joints and connective tissues must adapt, and they take more time than muscles do to adapt to that new demand. If you have quit for a long time, and if you were jacked before quitting, and you don't want to go back into the gym because you think it would be too much work like the first time, then don't be afraid; it will come back really quick. Especially if, in the meantime, you stayed interested in bodybuilding and learned about it. My technique drastically improved because I'm now 8 years older, interested in those "geeky shit" about bodybuilding, more than I already was back then, less prone to feel embarrassed about not being big enough, no more bigorexic in a sense. I matured well, and you probably do too. Just give it a go, you'll not regret it.

Lol fr hate to see bodybuilders critique boxers when boxing is way harder than lifting. Most these boxers aren’t doing exercises to get the “full rom” they just burning out the muscle as much as they can for endurance purposes. It’s annoying when bodybuilders start nerding out on shit like full rom in boxing workouts.I doubt mike would even be able to take floyd mayweather to the ground

In Floyd's defense (and mine, since you alluded to boxing fans not knowing s***) he was just f'ing around when he was doing bicycle kicks on his way up during the pull up. Saying he's "small" and that's why he can't punch hard doesn't make sense, people in the 130-154 pound weight classes (the weights Floyd fought at) knock each other out all the time. You missed the main parts that makes Floyd Mayweather Floyd Mayweather in terms of his training. Examples: Hitting the heavy bag for 2 hours straight, only stopping to drink water. Sparring 15-20 four min rounds with multiple sparring partners. I've also heard that he would spar without having rounds or stopping.

And I can TELL you the coordination benefits are supreme when it comes to boxing. Being able to move around and control your left and right arms while controlling your left and right legs simultaneously is not as easy as you think.
