Exclusive: On board a US Navy destroyer patrolling the Mediterranean

The USS James E Williams carries a fearsome arsenal of firepower, including Tomahawk cruise missiles, air-launched torpedoes and anti-ship missiles.
With four gas turbine engines, it can reach speeds of up to 30 knots. The US Navy destroyer also has 360° vision, which enables it to track up to 800 targets more than 200 miles away.
Forces News gained exclusive access to the ship as it kept watch over sea lanes and Nato's adversaries in the Mediterranean as part of the alliance's multi-national task group in the region.

Did an Artic cruise up near the north pole, the Med cruise, and a 3 month GITMO workup. Got out just when Desert Storm was brewing up. But the Med cruise was my favorite. Got to visit and see some spectacular places. The pyramids in Egypt, Jerusalem, and so many others. But it was a different time back then.

i love these little insight videos you do, it's great to see the henry ford or queen elizabeth sure.. quite mind blowing, but it's these sorts of areas much real practical work of the navy is being done... you can see our navy too shewdly investing in "destroyers" or missile frigates (i am not sure which is which), and minesweeping, submarine detection (i hope anyway) actually this clas from the americans they wanted a newer hull shape but that zumwalt never passed the test... now this class feel very important of a sudden so they have a sort of stealthed top half, as usuall all the US gear will be top notch, but the hull is the same as from 1991.... much like an F-15 also it will probabally get the job done

Best destroyers were the spruance class. They should add another 5 inch gun with guided munitions to the arleigh burke. Kinda difficult for enemy CIWS to detect and engage especially with multiple rounds incoming
