I'm glad Mitch isn't wasting his time on something that could potentially end his Strongman career in it's Prime. Eddie and Brian are retired, so if they want to oil up, throw on their budgie smuglers and have a slap & tickle fight for the fans... have at it! I'd rather pay to see Mitch vs Thor at the Arnolds and WSM this year.

I am glad that this did not happen. I still shudder at the thought of four 150+kg strength monsters with very little mma skills trying to beat each other up. I mean, who actually wants to see Brian, Mitch, Eddie etc. with a broken nose, a smashed up jaw, torn tendons (from armbars etc.) or even worse stuff like permanent back injury? No one I would guess. Their abillity in fighting is waaaay below their weight and strength to have a somewhat controlled outcome. What I would love to see though is a Sumo tournament with strongmen. Matted floor though but everything else japanese tournament rules. Would still be fighting but less likely to cause serious injury.

I get why he said yes but it was dumb. I'd think fighting would be significantly more likely to end your strongman career than he'd be comfortable with. If he was guaranteed to get more than his entire theoretical career combined then I understand.

This has been a fantastic watch, as a long time old skool strongman fan as well as a fight fan. Am 50 now and can 100% resonate with what you were saying, training is so important for mental wellbeing as well as physical but its finding the sweetspot. Must be really hard for you guys at an elite level. You talk about that roundtable I am sure people would be down for that and pay to attend, "An evening with Britains strongman legends"

I think the problem is Saudi Arabia. Enforcing a contract is normaly not a problem when it is based on a legit legal system. But trying to get justice in Saudi Arabia will probably just be a waste of time and money.

Where do you even sue them though? In Qatar? It would be almost impossible to find a country that would have jurisdiction for a lawsuit. Which, I'm sure these organizers know.

Thor and Eddie never got paid for their boxing match, no...? I have a problem with strongmen stepping outside the realm of their expertise to fight, but I realize a payday is a payday. But strongmen need to get their money UPFRONT. By that I mean put in escrow in a reputable bank before training camp even begins and released immediately upon the fight taking place to the fighter, even if the event loses money. If a deep-pocketed Japanese or Saudi promoter wants to see strongmen have at it, they can sort the purses first things first so that there isn't a repeat of Thor and Eddie getting ripped off...

So glad this rubbish isn’t happening. Makes a mockery of genuine fighters having retired strongmen “fighting”.

As someone who's been given the runaround like this before, it's amazing to see how everyone cheating people out of money thinks they're clever about how they're doing it like they're the first ones to come up with these lies.

Shouldn't take much to discover the identities of these "organizers". People have been rightfully shamed for far less. Sorry for the fighters!

No one wants to see friends fight, makes zero sense

What I dont understand is the people who are either sad because these athletes wont get paid or encouraged these people to get the money. It seems like they already live a comfortable life and this wont really affect their strongman carreer other than the fact that it takes time away from actually training it. What do you care about the financial situation of an athlete if that has no effect on them being the athlete in the sport that made you familiar with them? This reeks of parasocial relationship to me. As an aside, I understood why Thor did his boxing match, but that didnt stop me from disapproving.
