Your new uk driving licence will show the date you passed your driving test on your country. It does not reset

Hi, I have a Danish driver's license, but on Denmark you can exchange a Brazilian DL to a Danish DL, meaning although I do have a Danish (EU) driver's license, I took my test on Brazil. With all that said, I have two questions that is not quite clear. My danish driver's license expires in 20 years, can I use it until it expires or I fell in the rule that I can only drive for 12 months since my test was not taken in Denmark? Can I exchange my danish driver's license to the UK? Can I get any temporary license or use my digital license while I'm waiting the 6-8 weeks? There is a way to drive while the process is going through?

You can’t exchange your Danish license to the Uk because you originally passed your test in Brazil which is outside of the EU and not one of the countries in which you can exchange, you can drive on it for 12 months in the Uk but then you have to take a UK driving test.

Please could you help me. I live in Portugal but stay with family in uk.so gave their address......I applied for the license and it was issued in November......then it said that they couldnt find me at the address.......I need the license updated in order to get a license here............its a complete nightmare.....all systems here are broken and I cannot find out what to do from the DVLA. I need to be legal in both countries as I drive in both countries..........I would be very grateful for your advice. Thank you

This might be a really dumb question, but does "exchanging" my license mean I would have to give up my "original" (EU) license? Or would I be able to keep it?

Yes you have to send your current licence to DVLA along with your identification documents. You will then receive your identification documents back and your new uk driving licence

Hi, i would like to ask quick question if you don't mind please. I have passed theory test and and failed driving test about 3 times. I went to south Africa for about a month and passed my tests there and got the licensee. Can exchange it to the uk driving liecence since south Africa is one of the designated countries? will these things have an issue: 1) Previously filled D1 form for uk professional licensee. 2) Is there time duration condition where you must stayed in south Africa. for example, I was only there for a month. You can drive in the Uk for 12 months then you must take a British driving test to get a Uk driving licence

@@drm4857 you can’t exchange an expired driving license from Australia, but you can renew it in Australia and exchange that driving license for a UK one. Only EU driving licences can be exchanged even if they have expired to UK driving licences.

I'm a Brit living in Spain and couldn't exchange my UK licence before the Brexit deadline. I went to the traffic office with all the correct paperwork but was told UK licence not possible to swap. I know that the Spanish government have been negotiating with the UK for months to try to reach an agreement to allow British residents in Spain to exchange their licences without having to take a test. I think it is a disgrace that Spanish citizens living in the UK can drive on their Spanish licence or can exchange, but not the other way around. I blame Pedro Sánchez and his government.

Fill out a D1 form , fee is £43 by a cheque or postal order , supply new passport style photograph , ID documents e.g. 9 digit share code that's proves your UK settlement status or a BRP card , send in UAE Licence with application DVLA will exchange within 3 weeks .
