It's human to make mistakes. We should face up to realistic issues. Singapore cultures and politics need to align with realities of humanities and real life issues. Political development is part of life And life is real. We need face up to real life issues. So should politics.

He said that ministers are expected to know everything about the ministries, my question is how are newly elected MPs who turn into ministers in just a few short months supposed to know everything there is to know about the ministry? Is he telling us that anyone can become a minister by attending some internal crash course? Then I would think that such ministers don't warrant a million dollar paycheck since they are easily repleacable.

this is just sooooo lame. he said ministers need to know everything about the ministries they run.. and yet no sooner does a minister get familiarized than he gets shuffled to another one? the way the PAP changes minsters from one ministry to the other is exactly like the revolving door he was talking about. and huh? boasting about how the government finessed the covid situation? does he not know just how much more damage has been done by the government? (and indeed, without accepting blame, he has made so many u-turns... ya, thats the kind of expertise we need indeed!) and the whole thing about japan is so misleading. Abenomics is precisely why japan is in such mess. but as bad as things were, i would rather live there than in singapore during those intervening years between abe's premierships... certainly japan did much better in terms of GDP growth, savings rate, and social cohesion for the past 40 years than singapore. much better. so what really is he talking about?

Without the opposition, there is no checks and balances on decisions being made. This is the PAP's usual tactic, to give the impression that the job of running a small city state of 5.6 million population, is so complicated and scary that only the PAP can do it. That shows that they are either too unqualified or incompetent that the task seems overwhelming to them. The people who hear this are supposed to be afraid to hand the government of the country to anyone else. Who are you trying to fool? If it's so difficult, why are some of the ministers holding two or three jobs, treating their ministerial role like a part-time job, while drawing a full minister's salary (which is not a small amount even by global standards)?? In fact this exaggeration of the task of governing the country is the very excuse the PAP has been using to justify their high salaries. As impossible as it may sound, Lim Tean is the best person for the job of PM, and a coalition of parties is what's needed for good government.

Don't worry sir, ur party will not be voted out overnight.. we have our plans, just like hsk east coast plan.. we will gradually vote ur party out 1 by 1, term by term.. so as country will not be totally shut off like what u quoted how Japan was like in the past

If pap can so can anybody else, its about competency not elitism. The pap ministers are not some alien breed, train the person who is new, teach them and in time they will perform just as well. I mean when the ministers came in they were new as well right. Clean slate. Not auto downloaded by some god above. This is just a gimmick. Logical fallacy at best- we know best because we say so kinda logic...

You know what sicken me, you're the governing party that chose to be adversarial rather than a more conciliating outlook. You think you fixed the opposition, we voters are coming after you.

Pinky language. Jepun didn't do well is because of US sanctions placed on its economy for 30 over years due to jepun products posed a great threat to US products in those days. Jepun still doesn't do well today and continues to decline. So Pinky, your point on PAP and Singapore's success is not relevant at all.
