hand muscles wasting : loss of thenar & hypothenar eminence, loss of function of Abductor pollicis brevis ,opponens digiti minimi
What are the small muscles of the hands ?
1.Muscles of Thenar eminences ( Abductor pollicis brevis, Flexor pollicis brevis , Opponens pollicis)
2. Hypothenar muscles ( Abductor digiti minimi , Flexor digiti minimi, Opponens digiti minimi)
3. Opponens pollicis
4.Palmar & Dorsal interossei
5.Lumbricals
6.Palmaris brevis
How to diagnose wasting of the small muscles of the hands ?
You will see flattening of Thenar and hypothenar prominences.
There will be prominent muscles tendons.
Testing of hand muscles:

4)Lumbricals & Interossei: paralysis leads to Claw hand.
Nerve supply of hand muscles: Ulnar and Median Nerve.
Causes of muscle wasting of hands :
1.Anterior horn cell disease like Polio, Motor neuron disease

It has been almost a year since I injured my wrist and I haven't had it checked by a doctor or a masseuse. I have noticed that my right wrist is developing muscles, but my left wrist seems to be losing strength and I am having difficulty gripping objects with my left hand. Is it still possible for my left wrist to heal and recover?

I seen a doctor last December for my ulnar nerve entrapment and carpal tunnel syndrome. He gave me a shot in my wrist and sent me on my way saying that will help but it didn't. Since then I'm having muscle wasting and atrophy in my hand. Shouldn't I have been given prompt treatment because of nerve damage? I know if you wait too long the chances of your muscles coming back are zero.

No, brother go get it fixed. The nerve needs to be released or you end up with a thumb thats a decoration like mine. My left hand is fingers that can move, and thats it. I csn close my hand, but no grip strength because my carpal and cubital tunnel were trapped for a good four years, constantly numb and on fire, my wife used to wake up with me trying to make my hands not hurt in the middle of the night. Its fixed now and the pain being gone is AMAZING, but i do wish we caught and treatrd it earlier, but its all good. Happrned in both arms, left hsnd is fucked, both forearms have little to no feeling, but man, they no longer feel like theyre on fire. Plrase get your nerves rrleased man
