That's mostly true for cheaters and their kids. OP's mother was a cheater and saw it as no big deal. OP's father was willing to forgive his wife for cheating on her. It only makes sense that They wouldn't find issue with OP's ex cheating on her repeatedly so long as they liked him and, more importantly, I think there's a damning bit to all this: *why* would OP's mom be so determined that OP not break up with her boyfriend? Either the mom liked OP's boyfriend enough to not think twice about OP's anguish (in which case history and her not caring about the boyfriend cheating with the sister suggests the sister might not be the only woman in OP's family he was cheating on her with) *or* the sister and boyfriend were seeing each other behind OP's back for a *while* and the mother knew. After all, it'd look weird if OP broke up with her boyfriend and immediately found him hanging out with her sister with his history, but him going to spend time with his girlfriend's family isn't nearly as suspicious...

Very likely OP's mother planned to spin some lie about how OP was abusive to her boyfriend to the point he dumped *her* over it, then OP attacked her sister when she found out they got together or something like that.

While I hated how much of a doormat OP was, specially towards that cheating ass BF, the revenge she got(even if it was only against her sister and slightly against her BF and mother) was SO satisfying!

I would LOVE to see the reaction to the last text to Beatrice.

One thing, from an experienced woman to others, maybe younger people who just start out dating and relationships. If someone cheats, they don't love you. If you love someone, you could never hurt them like that. Never was there any moment in where YOU would have been able to change it. It's never your fault. It's the other's fault for not ending the relationship if it wasn't giving them what they needed/wanted instead of them cheating. Cheating is NEVER a mistake, but always a conscious decision to betray someone. If they cheat, they don't love you. And then you HAVE to let go. If you find yourself unable to, you need professional help, and no, this is not a degrading remark from me, but this comes from experience. If you find you cannot let go of someone who willfully hurts you like this, or other things, you need therapy, because you have issues that need looked at.

I feel like you making a fuss over things at the wedding is you stooping to their level. Like, a fuss needs to be made, but doing it in announcement style at a wedding makes you much less of a noble figure, y'know? I feel like the best method would be to vent to or ask advice from the most gossipy and the most prominent people in your family, his family, and their friend groups. Good on OP for exposing them at the wedding and having them disowned by the entire family. Real bold of them to assume that if she doesn’t accept the cheating and attend the wedding, she’d be cut out of their grandfather’s will as if they have a say in that matter. The fact that her POS mom defended Beatrice instead of comforting OP says a lot about her.
