For the most of the series I believe they we’re voiced by the same voice actor as Ocarinas Hero of time Link also.

Nightmare became my favourite character the moment one of my friends showed me SC2 for the first time and Nightmare's segment came up in the opening cinematic. His character design blew me away, I couldn't believe he was a playable character because he looks so much like a boss.

actually in half of the arcade matches he is mostly a warm up for the real boss. so you can say he was a mini-boss. and he still kinda is today.

Agreed. Fell in love with Nightmare once he became his own character in SC2 and from there they really have done him a service every game he has some unique moves to set him apart from the other iterations. Like SC2 vs SC5 for example. Vastly different nightmares, literally and gameplay wise

The design of nightmare in soulcalibur 4 is my all time favorite. He looks more demonic and threatening

Best Nightmare ever in SC 2 ! better than SC6 too because hate to much Demon Style Costume, SC2 he looks more like Knight, Mitsurugi looks like real Samurai and i want for Nightmare that he look like real Knight and not Japan-Demon-Style! At least one Costume like cool European Knight! SC6 dont like the horn.

Nightmare's SCV appearance took his SCII appearance, which was my favorite at the time, and added a few details that SCII simply couldn't. And there was something about his armor that made him appear WAY bigger than he actually was. I was legitimately surprised to learn that he was only as tall as me. His SCVI appearance, however, is a serious contender for my new favorite Nightmare. The subtle rugged details on his armor, the glowing red parts of his arm, the fucking cloak, all of those details just make this Nightmare look AWESOME. The only thing this Nightmare doesn't have is the lightning effect in one of Nightmare's intro when he closed his right fist.

I know this comments a year old, but another detail I'd like to add about the VI design, is since it's the first game in the series with Nightmare being a possessed Sigfried since they added the 'breaking armor" gimmick since SCIV. If SCVI Nightmare's helmet is broken, it reveals Siegfried with glowing red eyes.

I think He has some design influences with Soul Calibur 3s bosses such as with Abyss what with the vortex/black hole stomach he has and also Night Terror especially in his Alt I think.

Personally i really love nightmares design in sc6. I feel its simplistic yet elegant.

His design in 6 is like a return to form, which i find really cool. His best design is un 4 tho, it just looks brutal

I think nightmare was best in 3, with a real voice actor and not just computerized tremor of a voice. Having a real voice gave him more depth as a character I felt

I feel like SCV Nightmare is under appreciated, its technically the only example of a host who isn't Siegfried or Inferno on his own, plus he's technically a vampire too, dig the bat look

My favorite is the one from SCIV It was my introduction to the game series so that may be why but I love the fusion between his demon look and the knight look and the part under his chest (a mouth maybe???)

Nightmare has been my main in every game and I have to say my favorite nightmare designs are definitely the ones from 2,4, and 6

Super lame there was no actual SC3 gameplay, but other than that, nice video! Good trip down memory lane before SCVI comes out.

The only sword fighter I want to see in Smash.

I love Nightmare since the 1st time I saw him.

Any Nightmare that doesn't have that long red hair just fails imo. Also, they should have brought back the SCII English voice for VI. Or never let him go in the first place.

I dont get the hate for SC5.. (besides removing some iconic characters). I don't buy fighting games to waste hours playing single player content. The online experience was great and I spent countless months playing it.

@The Absolute Truth The storytelling was great to me. Seeing each character have their own tie-ins to Soul Edge was very interesting. The voice acting wasn't too bad either. I really appreciated it. Although the drawing point, I half agree with due to there not being many facial expressions. A lot of characters/faces being reused for different people as well. I'm all for the picture kind of storytelling. Would a more cinematic way to portray the storyline be better? Absolutely. But I rather have a good game only be 12GBs, than something like Tekken 7. 47+GBs due to how many cutscenes there were.

Soul Edge in SC4 was my favorite design of the sword.

Soul Calibur II I thought was unrivalled, and after 5 I knew SC as a franchise was dead, or in need of a reboot. Lo and behold, 6 comes along as a reboot and brings back the kickass Nightmare designs.

Fan of SCIII Knightmare and SCL Soul Edge

Been there for all of them. I'm super stoked for the new one. Li Long is still my favorite fighter. If they were doing a reboot, then they should have replaced that Japanese Elvis wanna-be.

I play of Nightmare from Soul Calibur Arcade inside the Bowling ball I was a younger and 13 years old.

5:00, theres just a random ass giant sword in this cathedral conveniently available when siegfried would have been disarmed

Nightmare is only Siegfried in Edge, 1, 2 and 6 (which is basically 1+2 retold). 3 and 4 is Inferno directly possessing the armour, 5 is Raphael possessed by Inferno.
