I think Siegfried has the most elegant fighting style of all character in SC. A well played Siegfried is fantastic to watch, like he's waltzing with his sword. Every move ends with a stance, and from there he swings the next, all attacks in a fluid succession. These videos didn't show much, but those who know his stances will know what I mean.

He looked so badass when he wielded Soul calibur

Apparently the inspiration for him was Guts, down to the part of them both being mercenaries, Siegfried being the leader of his group

Nightmare in 3, and 4 is a suit of armor that was possessed by the spirit of Soul Edge after Siegfried locked the Soul Calibur and the Soul Edge in a Soul Embrace, nullifying their power. In 5 the Nightmare we see is actually Graf Dumas, who is probably Raphael. Siegfried and Nightmare have only really been the same person in 3 out of the 7 games, SC1, SC2, and SC6, and they've been separated from SE/SB, SC3, SC4, and SC5

@@RimeyCH technically Nightmare is Inferno controlled Siegfried and when Zasamel made a armor that Inferno was able to control he became independent. In SC5 that's a different different Inferno aka Nightmare because the original died by Siegfried's hands in 4. And thus a remain peice of soul edge dwells in Raphael body and became a new and political Nightmare that focus on starting wars to feed his hunger for Souls.

In English, his voice from Soul Edge/Soul Blade is the voice of Paul Phoenix from Tekken, in Soul Calibur 3, it’s the voice of Winston from Overwatch and in 4 and 5 it’s the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Siegfried looked best in soul caliber 4

If you’re noticing that Siegfried sounds like Link in Soul Calibur 1, he has had the same voice in Japanese for the entire series, he just sounded less like Link.

In SoulCal 4 he really came into his own, in Soulcal 5 he was refined to be more combo-centric and have more options. Soul Caliber 6 incarnation is looking the best so far, what with a soul wave counter and fast stance pokes this game is what I've been waiting to enter into the Evo Championships with. Time for me to finally break out into the spotlight, wish me luck fellow gamers, I'll be at the 2019 Evo.

You're missing the 3rd costume for Nightmare from II. He is still referred to as "Nightmare" there, but he's definitely Siegfried in that form (as a cameo).

Yup,that is true,I am still disappointed at that. It is baffling that in the Evolution of Nightmare video,Early Nightmare was a skin for Siegfried in Soul Blade,but in this video,Siegfried being a 3rd skin for Nightmare in SC2 not counting disappoints me.

I just realized that Siegfried's voice in the original Soulcalibur is the same as Link from OOT

Weird how SC1 Siegfried sounded like Link from SC2 due to the voice actors being the same, yet Siegfried was a costume for Nightmare in SC2 and it's a shame it wasn't included in the vid. (But that's just me, other than that. Seeing the many different forms of Siegfried over the years is amazing)

Soul Caliber VI has impressed the hell out of me. The art direction hasn't been so on point since SC2 imo. This is definitely a return to form for the series. Love the little detail of the right side of Siegfried's armor starting to tint blue with corruption along with his bandaged hand.

It had a great, interractive story mode, an impressive Fighting/Strategy/ RPG secondary type of story mode, remarkable character creation, a bunch of exciting game modes ( tournament mode, challenge missions, e.t.c ) and TONS of unlockable content!

I still don’t understand why he had a different design in the opening to 3... doesn’t help that it looked light years better.

SC4 was the best for all characters. IMO

Siegfried is my main, I use a lot of combo moves, I grapple very little with him, funny enough, the name Siegfried means Peaceful Victory, I know in the character archive his character birth place has a German sounding name, but it's actually close to Sweden because of Hilde's birth place, though artwork of Siegfried shows him fighting a dragon, so they could have based him from the German myth of Siegfried the Dragon Slayer.

Evolution of Nightmare video: Has gameplay of Soul Edge,with Early Nightmare only being a separate skin for Siegfried. Evolution of Siegfried video: Doesn't have gameplay of Soul Calibur II as a third skin for Nightmare. 😑

Siegfried sounds slightly like Simba in SC Legends...

SC5 was a slower game in general compared to the others, I'm pretty sure the return to the speed of games like SC2 was a big point they made about 6.

Each character has both a good and bad ending. The one in the video is the good ending, the one you described is the bad ending.

Because it is, the Japanese voice actor is the same guy who voice link in SC2 and Ocarina of Time, he voice Siegfried since his debut(well sc not Soul Blade)

I disagree. They may seem similar at first, to those whose only technique is hitting A+A+A+A+A... as fast as they can. But learn some of his moves and you'll realize that his defining stlye is stances, something Nightmare doesn't have.

The Sieg in SC6 is the most balanced on my opinion he has almost all the move he need much better than sc5 only missing 22B 66B from Sc4 But its Still hard to win against fast character like Groh and Sophitia And the most difficult versus is against Ivy she can take him on distance and have advantage in range move. A good Ivy is almost impossible to defeat its like 5-1 barely

Okay broken destiny, 4 and 6 are the best imo!!

First I wanna say Craig Roger Smith that Played Siegfried in 3 & 4 I like the best cuz he doesn't sound weiny like SoulEdge Siegfried did!! It shows his maturity and hardship from breaking away from Nightmare. Two even though I was completely disappointed with the change in SCV, it makes sense Siegfried's voice wasnt that deep to begin with. So getting someone to match the tone of SE Siegfried would only be logical I suppose; but hands down still like 3 & 4 Voice the best.

What? His name is Roger Craig Smith, and he played Siegfried in 4 and 5. And the VA changed in 6 because its a reboot so Siegfried is young and immature again.

Chris Wolf that’s how it was in the first Soulcalibur, which Soul Calibur VI is a retelling of. Looking at the character story list for SC6, it looks like he’ll become Nightmare, get defeated by Kilik and Xianghua, revert back to Siegfried for a bit, and then turn back into Nightmare like he did in SC2.

Shea McGladdery it’s probably just because it’s very archaic. I ply it for the first time earlier this year, and I personally loved it. It’s old, and I think that’s why people can’t get into it as much as the rest, but it’s very fun.

Soul Edge/Blade is still my favourite of them all. Sure it might look old right now, but back then it had amazing graphics and the Edge Master mode was simply brilliant. Plus the fact all characters had two endings was great depending on if you hit the "right" key during the cutscene. I hoped 6 would be a remake on Soul Blade instead of Soul Calibur, but ah well... maybe one day....

Is it just me, or does it feel George Lucas took inspiration of creating Anakin Skywalker (not episode 1 anakin or darth Vader) from Siegfried?

Whoever is playing at Siegfried you are absolutely horrible and the only reason why Siegfried & Soul Calibur sounds like Link in Soul Calibur 2 is because they were played by the same voice actor
