    Thank you very much for the time and effort doing that video - although I am not in the market for a GFX card right now I enjoied watching it. I have an idea: Since you are taking every card apart could you give an overview over the vrm and capacitors quality that are used? Or can you include highres pictures of the PCB on your website so ppl can see the partnumbers - so it is quiet easy to look them up then and can judge the quality of the build.

    Absolutely the best Pascal design for me. EVGA's clean industrial shapes are far more appealing than any other crazy "gaming" themes on other manufacturers cards. No stupid RGB as well. This one might be my 1080ti pick. I am still waiting for FTW3 reviews though.

    Interesting test, but perhaps there is a difference when you have the fans very high or very low? and yes I do like mounting a side fan to cool the gpu so it remains at "idle" longer in most use cases, an open face plate like this is attractive for that reason.

    Since this card had better minimum frames when overclocked compared to the MSI and GIGABYTE cards. Could you include some frametimes in the review for the EVGA card aswell? I have a feeling in my gut that the higher switching frequency of the nvidia ref PCB design (assuming 600Hz of the nvidia 8 channel volt controller compared to the AIB partner cards that trade switching frequenzy for higher FET count through doublers that cut the eventual switching frequency in half) has actually benefits for the stability of the clock as soon as you apporach about 2000MHz on the core. So my hypothesis is that this time around the nvidia ref PCB design with lower FET count but higher switching frequency is actually outperforming the higher FET count AIB cards in perceived smoothnes and better frametimes.

    I just got a Silverstone ML08B-H case and I will be using a EVGA FTW3 for the build providing the current GPU doesn't thermal throttle, so would a SFF case with no case fans like this case benefit from the front plate holes?

  • @cheescake98
    @cheescake987 жыл бұрын

    Try this with 100% fan speed. Maybe then the holes help with reducing turbulence helping with either thermals or noise. Or maybe have the card run fanless and have a separate fan blow on it. Maybe then the holes help with cooling the card while the GPU is passive. Just a thought

  • @williamcoburn4486

    Surpuppa neither of those are realistic scenarios though, there's no need to run fans at 100% and nobody's going to cool their $700 card with only an external fan, without using either of the fans on the card.

    i just changed my thermal paste and dropped on average 10c. i did not change the thermal pads because i didnt have enough material but nonetheless, the paste change did help. i wonder why your temps did not drop after two separate paste changes. the airflow in your case must be lacking or your fan is failing to crank up. do you have it on auto or manual? i have also seen 80c on this card, but that was at 50 percent fan speed and full load. even in the hot hummer months it would never get higher than 76c @ 75 percent fan speed.

    Wait. you mentioned they accounted for power limitations "ideally power which is what they have done here"? in contrast to Nvidia's hard power and voltage limits. That sounds like a big deal when looking for one to watercool and push OC without having to do shunt mods.

    Someone help MR trance pick a brand and model GTX1080ti (NON FE), because I am tired of EVGA dragging their feet with inventory on these new GPU's. Volta and Vega will probably be out before I get my Pre-Order from EVGA

    From what I am taking in about vega is it will be a little better than a 1080 but not as good as a 1080 ti.

    SC ( black edition) has icx cooling, SC2 has icx technology, basically the same cooling system in the SC but without the 9 thermistor monitoring and controls, the sc even appears to have the asynchronous fans although I don't know how that works without the detailed monitoring .
