Also remember to double-check those safety tags (sometimes hidden) in your Gear! In the UK, Motorcycle clothing is regulated as Personal Protective Equipment and a number of stands at the London Motorcycle Show were found to be selling less than adequate gear.

Good shout. I didn't check a pair of boots i bought at the NEC. Turned out to be fake once I looked a bit closer at them. £60 pretty much wasted :(

Excellent information and advice. Definitely start with textiles as they're the most versatile. I still wear the first ever set I bought and probably used it more times than all my other gear combined.

As much as I love my leathers, 80% of the time I find myself in warm, comfy textiles. Really worth the investment

I only have one pair of jeans that I wear on my bike and I'm looking to buy my second pair once I've been to my not-so-local retailer. It's impossible to find many of the brands that I'm interested in here in Japan so I have to go to Tokyo if I want to try anything on. Summer is brutal here, and this year will be my first as a rider. I might get some leathers in the autumn.

Autumn weather is perfect for leathers. Dry, but not too cold :)

Another excellent Video that matches with all the info I have. Started with my Textile 2 piece suit, now divesting and getting some riding jeans and looking at a Mesh Jacket for the Summer riding. Keep up the Good work, loving your content!

I love my mesh jacket, can't wait for it to be hot enough to wear it again :D

Possibly controversially, I started riding with armoured kevlar jeans - then as I began using the bike more got some textile trousers for poor/cold weather and commuting. Power ranger leathers no. Not for me - hell I wear a waxed jacket. I prefer the retro/casual look. Nb. Not a hipster. Ps. With the tripod legs in shot my first thought was of Seamus Levine!

Power ranger leathers! Haha love seeing someone in a one piece that matches the bike. You can tell how much effort they put into it 😂 Theres a lot of really nice looking gear out there now, the retro Market is hot at the minute Haha yes, I managed to get my twig legs out of the frame but not the tripod 🙄😂

Just be careful you understand what protection you are getting and what you are actually comparing. You ranked your textile trousers above your kevlar jeans for safety. In fact your kevlar jeans are AAA rated and give more protection then your A or AA textile trousers. What the jeans don't give you is warmth and weather protection. I wear textile trousers for the reasons stated of comfort, safety and weather protection as for me that's the best combination of compromises.

True, I should have clarified that i meant the denim jeans not the black leggings! The black leggings have a higher safety rating but don't provide protection from the elements, as you say :)
