    Pretty good video. I'm a long time customer of SBS. One huge omission is no mention of MOTOCAP. I don't trust EN17092 because it's a pass/fail and manufacturers choose their level, like you mentioned. Also, EN17092's impact abrasion test was designed to let textiles have a chance and it set absurdly lenient abrasion tests on concrete (polished to remove pointy aggregrate). MOTOCAP has shown that AAA can get a pass at 1.4 seconds equivalent on a Cambridge machine test which simulates top dressed (chip/seal). This is an absurdly low pass but we wouldn't know how far it could've gone. Enter MOTOCAP which anonymously buys and tests kit available in AUS/NZ and does the older, superior EN13595 protocol tests. The kit is almost the same brands available in the UK/EU. Tests are to failure and you get hard numbers. Every safety nerd needs to know about MOTOCAP. I only choose my kit based on their testing and I ignore EN17092.

    Thanks. Really useful and informative. I was at a recent bike show and the Mrs said there is some lovely looking bike clothing/helmets on the stalls, why aren’t you interested. My response was I will only buy good certified stuff for riding. It simply isn’t worth cutting corners on this (pun intended).

    What about doing a review of safety ratings for short summer boots? I've been looking for a safe pair of summer sneakers or ride & hike boots but past mentioning that they're CE rated or that they've ankle or heal armour, the full information isn't there. Perhaps include a snap of the CE label in the imagery?

    Excellent information 👍... This is great as I just haven't got the time to delve it's all of this safety criteria stuff myself. The more information we get like this is extremely welcome !

    I've spotted some great deals on top rated kit on SBS recently, the Shark Spartan RS in matte black is £240 and some of the Dainese Aramid line (Classic Regular amongst other items) are AAA rated and under £200 at the moment, they look like regular smart trousers so ideal for the office. Level 2 gloves are pretty elusive, I'd be interested in some that are also well vented.

    Alpinestars’ current range includes four CE Level 2 gloves, and Five’s range has numerous Level 2 gloves. At a less premium price, Bogotto Veloce and LS2 Swift gloves are also Level 2.

    Given upgraded and equal armour, would you go S1 jacket or Tractech Evo 4? Specs and prices appear similar. Crash protection is the priority. Cheers.

    Given that priority I'd say the Tractech Evo 4 will be better as it has superior leather - as you say, an armour upgrade would be required either way as the Tractech's armour is L1 throughout. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

    Anyone know the size of the RST’s back protector pocket? RST’s are both sold out for months on sport bike shop and I want to add an Icon d30 protector

    The RST protector is 395mm tall and 255mm wide. The Icon D3O protector is 400mm x 260mm so I would expect it to fit in an RST pocket but can't promise. Cheers, Tony

    So how about recommending some jeans that come in different leg lengths... even better put a filter option on your website.

  • @sportsbikeshop

    @sportsbikeshop

    2 жыл бұрын

    We already have such a filter, which is available in the attributes list. Here's a link to jeans (of all materials) available in short length... www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_cat/976/(5;product_rating;DESC;0-0;all;420) and here's one for those available in long leg... www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_cat/976/(5;product_rating;DESC;0-0;all;421). Thanks for getting in touch, and I'll consider the idea of a video for people with different leg lengths. Cheers, Tony
