Can we also stop for a moment that Maisie's reaction when the ladder got clamped down by the giga was one of the most realistic reactions any of the children in this franchise ever had. The way she delivered the line "I'm gonna die" while crying hysterically was superb.

If you really think about it, the Jurassic franchise has been about about Parenthood and Family. Go back in every movie and the underlying plot is adults saving and protecting kids or the next generation with dinosaurs being the next generation that humans/parents "created/produced"

This is actually a really nice point. When viewed this way, the franchise is also injecting some antinatalist viewpoints about creation. People are so busy creating that they don't see the suffering they've created. Jeff Goldblum's line in the original supports this. "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should." Just like people today are so preoccupied with the idea of creating life that they don't look to the future at the world their children will ultimately have to live in.

I love this movie. Unabashedly and unironically. For a whole bunch of reasons. One of which is finally seeing Wu, who was always able in all 5 of the previous films, pass the responsibility off to others, be the one responsible, directly, for a thing and see the full force of that hit him in the face. And it breaks him. He is broken this entire movie. He is joyless. His shoulders are always slumped like he's got the weight of everything on him. His voice. Everything. And to see him so desperate to set it right... to see him finally in the end do it. It was a good solid arc for him.

Weird, because that's one scene I can't stand whatsoever (even if it does look cool as heck). Dinosaurs can't handle the cold, that's why those few who remained post-meteorite all died off or evolved past being dinosaurs during the ice age. The idea that one could easily swim around in water cold enough that the surface has frozen in a thick enough layer to let two humans stand on it in close proximity is ludicrous.

I have to discuss my favorite scene from the movie, because I don't think many people are talking about it: the scene with Maisie and Dr Wu. Most people I hear only bring it up to complain about 'the retcon' but I'm talking about the part just before that. You have Maisie Lockwood, who has been struggling with her identity after learning she was a clone, and Henry Wu, who's coming to terms that he had willingly let others manipulate him for his talents because of his own blind ambitions. It's a short and sweet talk where two hurting individuals help each other find a little bit of closure, and I'm a sucker for that stuff. I think it's a beautifully written bit of dialogue and acting, and practically no one is talking about it.

I actually think I liked Dominion the most of the World movies. That said, it definitely has issues. My biggest problem with the premise is the idea that dinosaurs spread so far, so fast, and with so many individual dinosaurs after the events of Fallen Kingdom. It has only been a few years, and there were very few actual dinosaurs that escaped that mansion, clearly some came from other places, escaping from the various islands somehow (flying types aside). The breeding pool would have been small though, every dinosaur would have had to use parthenogenesis to help the spread not just Blue, and even that wouldn't have been enough I think. They seem to be all over the place, even if not densely populated.

This is the kind of logic that you have to Harrison Ford away. It's not that kind of movie. And I'm fine with that. Being realistic, yeah... this is a serious problem. But it's not that kind of movie. So I wink, nod, and go back to watching the film. And I agree... this is my favorite of the World films as well. The entire tone is different from the other 2. Even from the previous 5. All 5 of the others are about losing control, but in the end regaining it in a fashion. Getting off the island, trapping the dinos on an island, sending the dino back to the island, etc. This one... we've lost. It's over. They are here, and they are here to stay. Now it is us that adapts or dies. And the theme and score throughout constantly convey this. Hitting minor chords, dropping down instead of rising. I enjoy seeing a fast forward to the end results of meddling. The ultimate "Ian was right" film. And yet even while it is this way, there is still hope. Together we can figure out this new world.

@@gothicbutterfly013 I feel it was a mix of age- he’s not the young man desperate to change the world, prove to the world he is the greatest scientists the man who brought back dinosaurs! I also feel it was seeing Charlotte Lockwood videos and realising he was doing this for the wrong reasons, he intentions may have started out as world breaking and changing, perhaps he was attempting to do what Charlotte did for Maisy for the rest of the world- to help people. He was getting desperate and that vision got warped by Masrani wanting a theme park, Eli with his greed and finally Dodgeson with his need for world domination and control. Then he sees those videos again, he sees that people will die on a massive scale for the egomaniac he’s working for and that he’s just disappointed and angry in himself, maybe even disgusted. He finally stopped seeing the deaths and destruction cause by his creations as “collateral damage” or “part of the experiment” he realised oh shit I’ve gone and fucked up and I need to fix this I got that rewatching the movie a few times and the relief he had in the end when he had finally destroyed the locusts, his atonement of his sins, I imagine that he will be working very hard to continue his atonement for what he’s done. I originally wanted him to get his karma, for him to die and for him to eaten for his “villainous ways” so when Dominion had him remorseful, trying to atone for what he did, even begging those he wronged- the original trio and the JW crew- it was actually more interesting and more fulfilling that just a simple death and made him a completely interesting character.

The Prologue and Battle at Big Rock are both Canonical Short Films to the Jurassic Universe. BABR was never "Cut" as it was never planned for Dominion. It takes place in 2019. But yes, Jurassic World Dominion is a really good movie with connections to the older movies, Camp Cretaceous (a few you missed such as the Barbasol can, we know how he found it) and the overall Universe. It's awesome and very Michael Crichton like!

I loved this movie so much. The Jurassic World trilogy as a whole is super over-hated by folks who can't get over the original movie from 93. That original is an experience that literally cannot be replicated due to the wonder of the new dinosaurs and the wonder of the new CGI, and the JW movies know this and do their own thing, and are pretty great for it. And this one in particular expands the world in ways that are amazing but also perfectly in line with Michael Crichton's themes; the locust plot is straight out of something he would have written for sure. After JP3, there was nowhere left for the franchise to go. After JW: Dominion, it could go literally ANYWHERE. And I love it.

Freaking finally, someone's giving praise to this film instead of dumping on it. My dad and I both agreed that the purpose of the locusts was to be a shared threat to man and dinosaur alike now that they were co-existing, and he especially was annoyed that most critics seemed not to be getting that. I had fun with this one especially in the motorcycle chase, *greatly* appreciated the survival of all the main returning characters, and was pretty proud of myself for predicting the cause of death for Dodgson. 😌👏

I liked this film and the extended cut was an improvement. I liked how this third part actually brought our og heroic trio back together again (RIP Sir Richard, you are greatly missed) and that it even brought back the og villain aka Dodgson from the first film and tied it all together. This film did for me what Rise of Skywalker failed to do and it just proves to me that I wish the studios has stuck with Colin's original script for that. He knew what to do. Even if the results of this film aren't what many expected, I went in with no expectations and walked out satisfied and happy with this film being a sort of final to the saga started all the way back in 1993. If we do get another trilogy, I do hope we see some older returning characters like the kids for example. And I wanna see crazier or scarier scenarios. Still want to see a Dinosaur movie set in a underwater base.

My absolute, 100% favourite moment from this movie that made me laugh so much in theatres was Ian Malcom’s first attempt at the code was “1984”. It’s such a brief moment but of course Ian Malcom’s immediate thought about what a numeric code might be would immediately be 1984. It’s a perfect expression of his character and I found it very funny. I really liked the film, even the theatrical cut. The OG sail-backs before Spinosaurus, and often overlooked. Also, I found it funny that immediately after Owen talked about how he made a promise to the raptor's mom, Alan kept carrying the wrench like "Well, I didn't, so if that thing lunges for my innards I'm going to break dinosaur bones for the first time in several decades."

Leave it to scientists to give a raptor a name with the root word that gave us "atrocity". I knew when Indominus's name was revealed that yeah, you couldn't get more on the nose with a dinosaur whose name means "Indomitable King". As for the Therizo...I call him Mr. Spitefest for a reason. Petty AF since it had no real reason to slap a deer offscreen for being the way. I was more on edge with that thing than Giga. The Dilos have been my worst enemy since the first film. Everyone talks about how scary the Big One and her pack of raptors were but I will forever be asking you "and the Dilo fucking WASN'T!?" Insult to injury when these are all technically juveniles because they're far too small to be full-grown adults. The two Rexes that Rexy meets are the Buck and Doe from TLW. No word on their son, though.

I loved loved this movie as a lifelong Jurassic fan. I could pick it apart and find reasons to hate it but life is short, and finding things that you enjoy & make you happy isn’t easy sometimes so I’ll take an easy win and love this movie and not think too hard about it because it makes me happy

18:26 I would recommend everyone here check out the show _Primeval._ Its CGI is done by the same people who did _Walking With Dinosaurs,_ and it does far more with "dinos in modern world" than any of the Jurassic World films.

Actually liked this movie. Despite it being corny at times, it’s one of my favorite releases of 2022

10:48 this is actually not a lystrosaurus but a microceratus. It also the best thing in this movie and me and my friend love his dead dumb expression.

I loved this movie so much, easily the best part for me was when Malcom threw the FLAMING LOCUST into that dinos mouth! I'd say it's making up for how he messed up the last time he tried to use a flair and it didn't end well for him xD
