    Fun fact: The doggos in this movie all have CGI tails. Because they were having so much fun playing their real tails were just a-waggin' with joy, so they (the tails) had to be replaced digitally.

    We should give a hand to the extras for selling "playtime with fun doggos" as "oh god, please help, they are going for the neck". There were a lot of people who had to really act for the dog shots.

    I kinda feel like if they left the wagging in it might have made the dogs more terrifying. Like “Oh god these dogs are enjoying tearing people’s throats out.” Though I can understand why they had to edit it out, and I’m glad the dogs had fun.”

    The “maybe just his legs” is because of the neck injury he suffered during the matrix that damaged his spine and gave him partial paralysis in his legs, so it would make sense if he kicked a bit slower.

    I really like how during the "trying to get out of the desert fortress" scene, both Sofia and John Wick have two very distinct fighting styles. John Wick is straight forward, shoots quickly, hardly hides behind anything (other than other people's bodies), Sofia on the other hand is calmer, hides behind walls and waits for a moment to shoot. She also calls her dogs after she knows they won't get harmed which is a win

    While appreciate the commentary, a point to make. While it WOULD be nice to see John Wick in his "prime" physically, remember EXPERIENCE is what John is about. The SKILL of his reloading faster than two other assailants is a fine example of it. He KNOWS what needs to be done and when. Like the shotgun shots to the legs instead of raising the shotgun for the head shot. Its FASTER to shoot the lower target, so he does so. He is SKILLED and that is what makes him "better".

Personally I would love to know what that "impossible task" was all about. "The bodies he buried that day lay the foundation of what we stand on today" - Viggo. Seriously, what did Wick do? Kill a few maffia families in New York? I need to know more about this and less about his "prime". John Wick's prime is in our fantasies now and no movie, live-action or animated, could ever top our imaginations.

    I can imagine that John's personal war against the Table is leaving enormous power vacuums across the assassin world. It's possible that the climax of the fourth film - John's ending, so to speak - will be the unseating of the current power and the establishing of a new one that lets John live his life because they saw what happened to the last set of shmucks who tried to fuck with him.

    I can expalin why in universe, the fighting gets more and more creative and ridiculous as the movies go on. Now obviously this is sequel escalation, with every new sequel needing bigger and more creative stunts. But in-universe, John has been out of retirement for like two weeks or something now (I think, we never get a clear timeframe for the events). It makes sense that when he first came back, he went for the quickest and easiest kills possible, but as he got back into his groove, he started to use his old and more creative fighting style more freely (using horses and books as weapons for example). It's all about getting back into the game with him.

    It's like a protagonist in a game sequel. They can't justify unlocking skills through learning since they already did that the first time around so it usually is explained through recalling them in some way. The whole John Wick series is just a sequel for a story we can only guess at through his legend and old contacts.

    In addition, his opponents get progressively better and more complex and skilled themselves. First movie he's going after a local mafioso gang. The next, he's taking on specific assassins from an employer and his target's old bodyguard. In this, the entirety of the underground assassin world is going after him. So of course the same blunt force approach he uses in the first movie loses effectiveness and he has to get more creative and ridiculous.

Know the risks." We see all the assassins that _did_ go for John in this movie, but how many do you think saw the 110% mortality rate and went "...nah"

    Fun Fact: Listening to the cylinder is actually a very important step in the completion of assembly or reassembly from a field strip of a revolver. It allows you to be sure that the cylinder is properly seated and aligned, and that the pusher finger is the right size and length for the cylinder used. When you pull the hammer back (or pull the trigger on a double action revolver *) a finger pushes on a ratchet mechanism on the cylinder that rotates it just enough to line up the next bullet with the barrel. If you can't hear that ratchet, or the sound isn't lining up with how far you spin it, or any other number of issues, the gun can either not fire, or fail catastrophically. Getting the cylinder and barrel perfectly aligned is the most important part of a revolver and if it's wrong, you either have a paper weight, or a pipe bomb in your hand. It's one of few Hollywood gun tropes that actually makes sense. Never under any circumstances spin the cylinder and slam it shut though. That is pure Hollywood and can throw off that important alignment and ruin your gun. I'm a firearms instructor so I see messed up revolvers all the time from stupid people copying movies! Lol * Double Action, and Single Action revolvers and firearms are pretty much exactly what they sound like. It describes the trigger mechanism. In a single action "cowboy style" revolver, the hammer must be pulled back (or fanned like a real man) and the trigger pull releases the hammer to fall and strike the primer firing the bullet. Simple. One action per pull, single action. Double Action means you can pull the trigger and it will first push the hammer back, and release it at the end of the stroke. Typically this requires a much longer pull, and a much heavier pull since your pulling against the hammer mechanism as well. This allows you to quickly get a shot off on a draw without cocking the gun, but is much less accurate because the force required to pull that heavy trigger a long distance tends to flex the hand and wrist pulling the gun a bit to the side and down. There are pros and cons to both types, but most DA guns can be cocked and used as a SA as well just fine. Because when you cock the hammer first, the trigger pull is very short, crisp and light and allows for very accurate shooting. Just a little revolver knowledge for anyone interested. Any questions, feel free to ask. Teaching about guns is literally my job lol

    @@w-r-s-a_9831 Sure. Like I said in my crazy long comment, the main issue is doing the Hollywood style 'spin and slam' where you open flick the revolver open, spin the cylinder with your hand really fast and then slam it shut by twisting the gun. You always see it as a way to put on random bullet in the gun, or just checking the ammo, or whatever... This is really bad for the gun, because you can bend the arm that holds the cylinder by slamming it open and closed, you can weaken or break the pins or screws holding the arm or cylinder on the gun.. but mostly it just throws the finely tuned cylinder out of whack and can cause it to 'creep' out of alignment until something awful happens. Best case, the gun won't fire and you'll have an expensive paperweight and worse case it can explode in your hand and seriously maim or kill you. Revolvers (like all guns) are precision made weapons and need to be treated with respect. When people don't respect firearms, you get serious problems and major consequences. Hope that helped clarify. Doing that cylinder spin is a common trope in movies that causes a lot of damage to guns each year lol my gunsmith sees tons of revolvers that come in for being out of alignment or something. People need to stop trying to copy everything they see in movies!

    The entire John Wick franchise is a matter of "realism" vs "authenticity". John Wick is an "authentic" movie. We see all the fights, we can count the shots with Wick, and Keanu went through months of training to make it look real. But you look at a bulletproof suit, the Emissaries are a immune to headshots, and he got pushed off a roof by a pistol. Always felt like more people should be aware of the difference.

  • @DraconicDuelist

    @DraconicDuelist

    4 жыл бұрын

    I'd say the suits are a combination of Titanium and Graphine weave. A decent combination of these 2 materials would probably make for a highly bullet resistant suit that still allows for mostly unhindered movement. Graphine is being researched for high-quality electronics and new, modern bullet-resistant vests. Titanium of a sufficient thickness can be shot with a .50 cal rifle, and barely have a scratch. Both are incredibly light but expensive, so it makes sense that the Table's elite anti-assassin assassin squad would have suits made with these kinds of materials. A glaring flaw, is they both conduct electricity well, so a good zap would probably have minimal resistance (unless they had decent insulating under-clothing). Wick on the other hand, had just bullet resistant clothing. He knew he needed to get away before a shot was aimed properly, so over the roof was the only chance for _possible_ survival. Both sides reacted and were stunned by the shots taken. Bullets (IIRC) exert about the force of a strong punch. Each shot to someone with resistance staggered like they were hit, but the armor would disperse some of the energy if made well enough. The non-lethal head-shots should have made them stun a little longer, but I'd assume they were trained to react through the head trauma and _then_ gather themselves once the coast was clear enough to not have someone shooting them more.

    Fun fact: The word "Einfühlung", even though I wouldn't doubt it exists in the dictionary, isn't really used by any native German speaker. The word itself is a nominalization of the verb "einfühlen" (to empathize), but the proper translation of "empathy" would be "Einfühlungsvermögen" (lit. the ability to empathize). Oh, and while I'm being so pedantic, German nouns are aways uppercase. And don't get me started on "mitfreude". Also, is this the second time I'm getting an eye twitch about a German word on an EGA video. Why am I like this? I used to be fun at parties!

  • @AndaraBledin

    @AndaraBledin

    4 жыл бұрын

    Names are "always" capitalized (not uppercase, for some pedantic payback :p ), too, but some people still stylize their names without a capital initial, so having a German noun with no capital initial isn't anything that should make anyone look twice outside of formal writing.

    Fun Fact: Those two guys weren't supposed to have speaking roles in the original script. It was just gonna be fists, kicks, blades, and broken glass. But Keanu was being so nice to them, frequently asking if they were alright after each takedown or body throw, that they decided to include some friendly banter between them. Same jist also applied for Zero. The role was originally meant for Hiroyuki Sanada, but was passed up due to Sanada being injured. When Mark took it up, the script was revised for him. From a cold-blooded, silent assassin, he became a fanboy in an assassin's mind, because Mark was having so much fun shooting scenes with Keanu.

    One of the interesting things I thought about while watching the movie was the motorcycle scene on the bridge. Being a lefty I was wondering why they all drew their swords with their left hands. I can't imagine every one of them would be a lefty. So I asked my friend about it, and he said they needed their right hands to be on the throttle so that their motorcycles would maintain speed. An interesting drawback to using a sword on a motorcycle, which is where a horse or for that matter, being able to shoot lefthanded would be an advantage to trying to wield a sword with your offhand.

    Interesting tidbit, thanks. Considering how wealthy the organization is, you'd think they could afford to have modified bikes where the throttle is on the left, or controlled by the feet. However, since the movie wouldn't have time to set-up and explain this information, it makes sense they would just use normal bikes for those familiar with the vehicles to notice the detail. That's a win to me!
