Totally agree as an American with mostly Irish and French lineage. I am American 1st and foremost. I can accept the struggles of the past existed and learn from them. I also can appreciate all the good to come from the past. Im proud of one of my family members for instance working on repairing the statue of liberty when it was needed before. Im proud of my parents and educators for teaching me how to succeed and have proper manners. Im proud of myself for not being a bum playing video games or making tick tocks 24/7. I am proud of my military for helping defend our nation and helping save our allies when necessary. I am proud of my students when they get good grades and learn something new. I am proud of parents that take care of their kids. I am proud of law enforcement when they do their jobs. The list can go on and on. I ultimately give credit where its due. I also will call out bull**** when I hear it. This victim bull has to stop. I wont change myself to be the way you want me to be. I am who I am and I know who that is. Cappadocia was part of the Christian byzantine empire when St George was alive - and he was a Greek. It wasn't until 7 centuries after he died the area (now Anatolia) was invaded by the Turkish Ottomans and became predominantly Turk and Muslim. Its a bit like claiming someone born in the 4th century in the area covered modern day Manhattan was a New Yorker and an American - when those names and concepts of course never existed back then!

If St George is a patron saint in multiple countries does that mean Portugal can’t fly their flag ? Is she unaware that patron saints are symbols not real people (St George and the Dragon?) and symbolic of the spread of Christianity across Europe? It doesn’t matter where he was or wasn’t born! St Patrick wasn’t Irish and St Andrew wasn’t Scottish. So what? And a nation is never going to put a a foreign nation’s interests first!

She wrongly asserted that St George was Turkish because he was born in Turkey. Not only was that incorrect back then, but even today most countries don’t confer citizenship automatically to everyone born in their territory. If you are born to immigrant parents in Turkey then you are not a Turkish citizen at birth.

Earlier on, with the ‘I’m sick of attacks on our English flag …..’ video clip, no comments were possible. Was it because even KZread considered the fool talking to Peter reprehensible? I find it very difficult to listen to a single word from racist, thankless people. On the one hand, their repellent views should be known; on the other, it makes for difficult digestion of my evening meal. In this clip, Rafe really seems to have enormous patience and forbearance with the most ignorant and intellectually inferior of people. I often reach the stage with those who abuse the generosity and innate kindness of citizens of this wonderful country of wishing to pay their travelling expenses to another country (one way) out of my own pocket. Anyway a useful piece of patriotic information: Whitby is one of my favourite holiday destinations; a trip on the NYMR is obligatory from Grosmont to Pickering. In Pickering lies Saint Peter and Saint Paul’s church, a grade I listed building with 15th century wall paintings one of which depicts SAINT GEORGE SLAYING A DRAGON.
