My friend is a U.S. sniper (10 years) and said that this training didn't prepare him. When he was out in the field he had to learn almost everything from his on-site training unit and it was like boot camp all over again, except that his life was actually on the line. i.e. they use heat sig cameras now so camo is less relevant than total concealment behind large objects.

honestly it looks easy when they put it here. but what we don't see is the after math. these soldiers go through a lot physically and mentally. being away from home, long nights after training to wake up every hour for fire watch. having to mentally be there with out sleep and getting yelled at. drinking garbage water from a fossette. I respect the hell out of these guys and all service members. thank you for your service! if only America could give you back what you deserve

Served with SFC Pharr during my tour in Germany back in 2014(he was a CPL at the time). Now he's a SFC and a Sniper School Instructor, which doesn't surprise me. Great dude and had the respect of all his junior soldiers. Super happy for him.

Meanwhile, i served with SFC Pharr when he was still a SPC at 2CR in 2012. Dude tried to frame me for dumb crap all the time. He's a jumped up individual, who didnt look out for his subordinates. We deployed in 2013, returned 2014. so you probably knew him after i did, or during in the same time frame. doubt he changed much in there. But clearly he's doing well for himself.

I remember we were having a biv at a RAAF base where we do air cadets at and a military sniper came in and gave a lesson on how snipers actually work and showed us gear he always has on him and what he uses them for when on missions ands explains how easily it is to get caught if the sun hits you and reflects of something- that has given your position away. He also talked about missions and showed us how move through thick forest areas slowly when approaching the enemy head on so they don’t see it. It was really cool he explain a lot to us about being a sniper.

Because tan(d) ~ d when the angle is really small, you end up with the relationship L = H/tan(d) ~ H/d. The final 25.4 comes from the fact that 1000" is exactly 25.4 meters. Note that if they estimated target size in meters, the conversion factor would be (Height in m)/(angle in milliradians) * 1000. Which is a lot easier math.

Lol... it's a gentleman's course. Yelling and all that nonsense doesn't happen. It is not physically demanding what so ever. This video is making it look way crazier than it actually is. You either pass the stalk lanes.. or you don't. And stand confident next to any graduate? Just because you didn't pass the stalk lanes doesn't mean you didn't just get the same training. Hell.. my shooter in Afghanistan went to Sniper School AFTER the deployment.

The majority of their training is completely useless out in the field. I can tell you this with first-hand experience.

We had a sniper at our patrol base in Anbar my first deployment. His spotter carried a 240B and the vast majority of engagements they were involved in they initiated contact with the 240B and not a rifle. He rarely even carried the .50, choosing to bring the .308 most often. He would use it when he shot from the patrol base but I don’t remember us ever dropping them off with that big ass rifle. Every time we heard the 240 start firing we immediately mounted up and went to their location to get them and whoever they killed.

We are very excited and really like your creative ideas, made it enjoyable to watch and keep watching, hope you continue this great idea forever.

Yeah, but you have to keep in mind they are severely sleep deprived for weeks and going 100mph every day. Information in these courses is given to you like it's fired from a shotgun and only the students who retain that info and apply it correctly make it.

I have nothing but respect for these guys. Personally I think hiking around with 40-50 pounds of kit is a massive ballache that tests me my to my limit. These US Sniper guys do it whilst camouflaged, in ditches, miles from home, with bugs biting them in the anus... and then despite the misery, they lay there for three weeks and then kill the ENEMY! Not really sure who the enemy is but it would be super awesome if we could protect the South China Sea. Just saying!

@@gfuentes8449 That is not really the most basic test for a sniper though, that would be was she very good at shooting? If she is tiny and really good at keeping still she might be a better sniper that a huge lad who can carry people. 99% of the job is keeping still and silent and watching for hours and hours and being able to instantly snap to focus to make a critical shot. They can't get bored or start scratching or watching flies, being a man does not help with that. They don't often evacuate wounded, they usually work alone. If she can shoulder and fire a .50 cal accurately she must be strong enough. There were some good female Soviet snipers, and there are female snipers working today in Ukraine.
