What Army Rangers Go Through In The 60-Hour Best Ranger Competition | Boot Camp | Insider Business
At the US Army's annual Best Ranger Competition, 56 two-man teams representing 27 different Army units undergo a grueling 60-hour gauntlet of physical and mental tests. By day three, the field of 56 teams is cut to just 16. By the end of the day, only one team will earn the title of best Ranger.
Insider's chief video correspondent Graham Flanagan spent three days following the competition at the Fort Benning Army installation, which only three weeks later changed its name to Fort Moore as a result of a congressional act to rename military bases whose names honored Confederate leaders.
All competitors are Ranger-qualified, meaning they have completed the challenging 62-day Ranger course that earns them the coveted Ranger tab.
Along with the bragging rights that come with winning "BRC," winners receive a prize package worth nearly $18,000. The prizes include rifles, pistols, gun safes, and other tactical equipment. Historically, competition winners continue to rise in the Army ranks and get opportunities to work in academia and Hollywood.

They would make a good one. However in the past, RTB has refused to allow documenters and journalists to do a article/documentary on the course unless they are Ranger qualified themselves. Might change who knows.

Also the events in the video reflect what they train for.
One of my good buddies who is now an SF officer trained for close to 6 months for this competition along with another Soldier who was a previous winner. They didn't make it out of the first day. He said it's the hardest thing physically he's ever done and still says that even after he went through the SF pipeline. Hats off to each competitor, this is a hard event!
I was in the US Army, not a Ranger but I was Air Defense Artillery and I worked with these guys. Interesting story, I was in Hooters in Tampa watching the Jets play the Steelers during the AFC Championship game I think in 2011. Anyway, I am a die hard Jets fan and some guy was across from me in the bar rooting for the Steelers. The whole night he and I were jawing at each other in a somewhat friendly manner but honestly, if we got into a fight I didn't like my chances. Anyway the night ended, the Jets lost and when I arrived at work the next day and we were to be meeting with some US Army Rangers to do some field testing on some new equipment. We headed to the range and the Ranger that was assigned to me for these tests was the guy from the bar the night before. We laughed about it and that night we all went out to the same bar and drank together. This time, a bit more friendlier to one another! As I said, if we had gotten into a fight I didn't like my chances.

They need to find a way to get these on TV. People would watch if they knew about it. So much better then all the other junk that is on TV.
I'm loving these videos as a Brit, they give a great glimpse into the US military and just how well drilled, professional, and determined you guys are. I'd never join the military myself, but seeing how hard these guys push themselves is inspiring. On a side note, I'd love to see how our SAS/SBS guys do in something like this. Much love from across the pond!

The 60-hour ranger competition had got what it takes to challenge a certain individual's agility, strength, precision and accuracy. If you've survived all the way to the end, that means you're a true warrior.

The team is like one quarterback and one linebacker, both captains. It doesn't matter when you switch, just know who's leading and when.
Holy moly that's grueling. You just got to be built different to not only serve but to serve and be like I am gonna be the best day in day out and win this. I love these videos.

A guy in my old unit was SF and was extremely fit and well trained. He had nothing but respect for rangers
I wish I could have had the oppurtunity to go to ranger school and then comepete in this. Salute to thesde guys, this is def not easy even if you are in amazing shape.

The 75th should be the most high speed team considering their continual active status. They probably would get some heat for losing especially since I'm pretty sure they got put in special active status. Respect to all the units and teams that participates in this event, takes a special breed to even finish let alone win/dominate.

Here's your award for the worst ranger candidate in human history.
Man, did a similar type competition when I was in the service, though nowhere near this much, but anything requiring you pull yourself up became brutal the further in on the course. I could identify with the part @6:45 where the tired arm strength makes you unsure when trying to navigate that type of obstacle. Ah, good times though.

Being best Ranger or having a competition is nice to have, but in the end when it comes down to a military operation or hell getting shot at and having artillery explode around you, teamwork gets you back home alive. Having the best equipment, body armor, and vehicles out there is wonderful, but without teamwork and performing your duties, you might not be going home.
So weird seeing ranges that you went to at fort benning in these videos.

I was the best Ranger during the invasion of Washington D.C. back in 2009. I successfully took the White House back from Russia and single-handedly saved BurgerTown. In 2011 I moved on from ranger batt and made it into CAG/Delta Force, helping end WW3. Yeah very weird as rangers are extreme athletes but their main focus is teamwork so its crazy to me that teamwork was their weak spot

These are not all “army rangers” who compete in this competition. To those who aren’t in the military this may seem like a distinction without a difference but these are Ranger qualified soldiers, meaning they completed the Ranger School and earned a Ranger tab, they are not necessarily in the 75th Ranger Regiment, aka Rangers. I know the video briefly covers this, but the video title is misleading. A lot of retired guys with ranger tabs allow themselves to be called “Rangers” without correcting people, and for those of us that were in regiment, it’s a little annoying.

@@Anonymous18817 Well for one, you'd have to enlist and climb rank and then go to Ranger school and become an Army Ranger. Only a handful of women have ever completed Ranger school, and none have ever competed in the competition to my knowledge, let alone win it. Keeping in mind that Rangers are Special Operations and 90% of people who are already in the Army couldn't become a Ranger if they wanted to. You could spend 20 years preparing for something like this and won't come close to 48th place
