A necessary evil if you will. Life and death must co-exist for the sake of balance. Without death, there wouldn't be any rebirth. And without life, nothing would ever exist. That's how I see it at least.

@@mtails152 in my mind a creature doing what nature essentially programmed it to do is not evil. I suppose in my mind evil can only exist when free will is present (which requires sentience). If Yveltal is making the conscious decision to end innocent life I would consider it truly evil but I’m not sure that’s exactly what’s going down here

@@Pants.69 I believe that Yvetal is just doing its job. After all, death must be an end to life for rebirth to occur.

Some theorists I've seen claim that Absol were once Psychic-type but adapted to be Dark-type due to how we perceived their behavior as being them maliciously causing natural disasters for their amusement, even though such a claim was, in fact, false. We percieved Absol as evil, so they became part of the most evil type even though they still kept their original nature of warning others, not holding even a hint of a grudge against us for what we and our fear did to them.

That reminds me of another pokemon. Apparently hydragon Spoilers: became cruel because people thought it was evil. So it did that to basically protect itself.

You’re not gonna mention how darkrai literally jumped between a temporal blast and spacial tear in order to save a town? That individual instance elevates the whole species at least one place in my mind.

I firmly believe that the Mystery Dungeon games are a movie series in the Pokemon world, and the Darkrai from ETDS is an A-list actor who has the personality of Jack Black and loves playing the bad guy.

1 Darkrai saved a town and countless lifes; 1 Darkrai tried to stop time, turn many pokemon to frozen statues, and force 2 children to commit suicide. 2 extremes

There's a reason why Absol's Mega gives the noble creature Angel Wings. Or rather, fur resembling angel wings.

I could never consider Houndoom as too scary given that episode where one took care of Misty's Togepi when it got lost, and served as a delivery/guard dog for a shepherd.

considering umbreon is also a friendship evolution and espeon is teorized by its entry to have been an eevee that evolved its psychic clayrvoyance powers to protect its trainer, it makes sense umbreon to not be evil, even silveon has predatory traits on its entry and hes literally the cutesy pink fairy evo.

Hoopa Unbound is definitely the most evil because of its behavior in its own movie, Hoopa and the Clash of Ages.

Archie is definitely on the least evil side. He's very nice to his teammates and even the player and willingly gives up his Mega Stone in the post game after you beat him. Dude is a real chad

Personally I think the hisuian Zoroark and Zorua get a bad rep due to people jumping to conclusions. I mean the examples shown show them at most scaring people away but never actively harming them. Even in their bio (and also shown in hisuian snow) it admits that if you manage to gain the trust of a hisuian Zoroark/Zorua you will have the most invaluable ally and loyal partner in them as they will be more than willing to go to the ends to protect their trainer.

I am going to make Togakiss’ Pokédex entry more dark….

I know you said individual circumstances wouldn’t really be looked at but I couldn’t help but think of the episode where there’s a sneasel who’s like an incredible head chef at a restaurant who makes delicious food but struggles with making it look appealing. Vs a Mr Mime who can make incredible looking food that tastes disgusting lol. I don’t remember if they were particular kind but it’s been one of my fave Pokémon since that episode so that makes them good in my book!

You'll have to update this for the new dark types in Scarlet and violet. Also it explains why hydragon is cruel and gives more info on grimsnarl. That's because it may be enough for you to change their rank on the lists.

Absol is one of, if not my favorite Pokemon, so I’m glad to see it take the best spot on this list

I'm really looking forward to the gym leader Ranking.

Feels like Absol as the gold medal makes sense, but Pangoro makes more sense as silver and Urshifu as Bronze (swappable with Pangoro). Greninja being silver seems INCREDIBLY arbitrary based on Battle Bond, considering the other 2 are confirmed to be on the side of "good" in lore, outright. Hell, Incineroar even should be higher.

Just ignore the fact that Darkrai successfully murdered a little girl in BW and outright told the girl to forget about the Lunar Wing and embrace death to stay with it and almost killed another kid in DPP/BDSP. The only real time it was misunderstood was in the anime where it was actually benevolent but the anime is another canon and isn't interested in being faithful to the games in the first place.

Absol is my favorite dark type also you should do the good to evil rank for all the 18 types.

The possible reason why hydreigon is obedient to its trainer is likely due to how hydreigon in history was believed to be evil incarnate and was always attacked resulting in it retaliating out of anger so by you being it’s trainer it can be assumed that you understand that those rumors are false

@@ShadowMike202 the reason I put the kids so low was due to them killing innocent security guards after being killed, and I put Gregory in the gray due to his destructive behavior and the fact that in most endings he was just trying to save himself, however i will agree with the Vanessa thing, I only put her in the bad due to her Vanny persona, as for Elizabeth, she is actually a major villain in the books (which I did take into consideration) and because as Baby she seemed to want to follow in her father’s footsteps. I put Michael in the low good tier due to him seemingly wanting to take the job as a security guard (keep in mind Micheal spent the nights willingly, while Gregory had no choice) and the fact he helped set the souls of the dead children free, however I put him in the low good tier due to what happened to his brother so I couldn’t place him any higher. I hope you understand my placements now

If considering Darkrai's story in Mystery Dungeon, it would be fair to do that for other pokemon as well

One thing that scares me I. Pokémon is that in yeveltal’s Pokédex entry it says that if yeveltal dies ever living thing dies with it

Who says that Mandibuzz are looking for males of their own species? If two different kinds of pokemon successfully breed with each other, the resulting egg is the same species as the mom. So to my mind, this is kind of a LoZ Gerudo situation where Mandibuzz impress male pokemon of other kinds in order to hatch more Vullaby.

I was just think how many of my favorite pokemon were in this list. Then I remembered dark is my favorite type.

My favorite Dark Type has to be Sableye, my two favorite types happen to be Dark and Ghost. I think I'd share a lot in common with Sableye: First of all, contrary to most humans, I am most active when it's dark, I have to take medication just so that I can function in society, because the sad reality is that most people are not like me, and everything has to be done during the daylight, whenever I'm inside and I look out and see that it's a clear blue sky with the sun beating down, I know from watching other people that I should be enjoying that, but I just - don't, I feel like putting a blanket over my face; I keep getting furious with my mom whenever she cancels dinners because it got slightly cloudy (she's the exact opposite of me). Additionally, my dreams are absolutely terrible, I'm sick and tired of my mind taking every possible thing that I fear could go wrong in my life and manifesting it in my head whenever I go to sleep, good dreams are something that only normal people get to have, Sableye would be there to eat my dreams, most people see dream-eating as a negative thing, but not in my case.

Dark type is just chaos type. They literally range from protective but not caring about who/ what gets hurt, being misunderstood, kind of existing, and then there’s ones like your dead goldfish along with revenge bird, and then there’s houndoom. A literal hellhound and did I mention Tyranitar just being that one guy who can’t take a joke and is built like a bodybuilder on steroids strong enough to destroy mountains. Oops forgot the LITERAL *MURDER BIRD THAT IS JUST KINDA THERE IN KALOS*. Also is dark type arceus technically a dark god? A fallen angel or something?

Absol is my fav, and it make sad everytime i read it's dex entry.

Greninja is one of my favorite Pokemon Incineroar is my second favorite Third favorite is obviously Umbreon & the last one is electric type Jolteon

And then it turned out Hydreigon is justified in its hatred of humanitu given how they hunted it down and used him as a scapegoat for anything bad when it was just being an innocent animal. Hell, it could've been nice but humanity is flawed and Hydreigon deserves better and to drive humanity extinct
