Please back up your original "ffb_custom_settings.txt" - rename or copy to a new folder AND take screen shots of your existing "Driver Settings" and "In Game Settings". This video is an invitation to try my AMS2 "Custom" FFB setup/settings, if you do please like so many others let me know how you get on oin the comments here... I tried this set up and I'm keeping 99% of it! It's definitely an improvement on my previous set up One thing I couldn't handle though was the reduced steering that you dial in, Matt. I can't be doing with the madly twirling arms in VR! 😅

Thanks for the question, I would simply create a new folder in the original txt files location (you'll see in the video that's what I've done) and move your original file into that so you have it as a backup and then put the 'new' file there. I'm using the 5-8nm file. I hope that helps 👍 Come back & let me know how you get on 😉😊

This SIM people saying "The best that you like" they never say "Most similar to real life feeling". This are the people just playing Games(Simcades) not Sims.

With my 20+ years of club level motorsports I feel that my current FFB setup in AMS2 is as close to the real life racing I have experienced including the RallyX cars on loose and on the tarmac tracks. Again, I will reiterate from my first video that I'm NOT talking physics/tyre model (although AMS2 is currently at the best it's ever been). If you look back over my past 100+ livestreams, I am constantly commenting that AMS2 needs more "grip", however the level of detail I have found with these settings at such a low 'FFB Gain' is remarkable on my very modest setup. The big subjective problem with FFB AND indeed real life - is exactly that 'Subjective'. You can jump into two cars from a highly restricted/identical manufacture class of motorsport from Rental Karts to ARC's (and others) and each car will subjectivly "feel" different to one another. Even down to "identical" batches of tyres/springs/shocks/brake pads/bushes etc. etc. etc. all go to make a vehicle "feel" different when they look identical. What "sims" do you drive and how do they compare to your real life racing/experience 🤔

@@SimRacersArms I'm More amatour, with personal cars going from cars without servos with servo, With or without Suspension setups, driven on tarmac, Snow, Ice, gravel. Put cars in limits at least to know what they can deliver, I'm lucky to be alive.....Yes. Also because i drive Motorcycles aswell and My home is right under the Alps, so also sketchy moments that tightens your a55(Mother Nature can be a B.!) I Know I can't use my motion senses to feel the car/Bike, but I know what my hands should feel. I have been playing with a lot of SIMS already from the 90s and know what they are build for, but in this last decades,"grown up kids" sims are just comparing one game to the other, where the SIMS should be compared only to REAL LIFE. I'm not refering to your Video :) .

@@Wolfox360 Thank you for you reply/background 👍 Sounds like you live in a wonderful 'playground' 😁 I'm 100% with you on comparing to real life and it is so hard to convey and as the 'feel' is so subjective even Danial Morad/Jimmy Broadbent/Mat Malone etc. etc. convince me that what they 'feel' on their setup is what they feel but it doesn't always transfer to other hardware/software setups. If all developers were creating their FFB/Physic/Setups from real life Physics why do they all feel so different, logic tells me they should all "drive/feel" the same as physics is physics isn't it? I really love this "hobby" called sim racing, it's given me the chance to have great conversations with great enthusiast from all over the world such as yourself 👍🏁 What is you go to sim right now 🤔

Because it's not supposed to be similar to real life feeling. The whole point about a sim is that certain forces are missing because you're sat in a chair in front of a computer not in an actual moving car. To make it easier to drive in a sim without these forces they add things to games that don't happen IRL - and this includes certain audio sounds (especially tyre noises) and FFB effects or forces in the wheel. That said (a) some of the forces are "real" in the sense they come from the simulation of physics of the vehicle and its interaction with the world - but these forces are on the basic FFB included in the game (default or whatever it's called) - the ones you all reject because you think they are missing something - but they aren't missing anything similar to real life feeling - they are missing something from the other sim that you believe (wrongly) is correct, and (b) you can drive just as well in VR with ffb turned off - in fact probably faster with suitable practice because (high forces especially) will make it more difficult to control the car.

@@SimRacersArms The only two that satisfy me also because on Xbox, are Forza Motorsport and ACC. I'm done with PC for now. FM you need to tune the FFB setting untill you are satisfied, Where ACC now is a nice Game, also fine forces are delivered, where in the Past it was more like a guessing game when you loose traction. And FM has WAY more FFB than FM7 FINALLY, that was my main wish on that game. YES, that is the same question I always asked, If a car is simulated, why are they not the same in every other game? I understand that they could be various interpretation of the same car, But the Basic should be the same on all Boxes with 4 tires with a front geometry to make the car go straight. Even until now in every SIM,there are NO wizard or something to tune the FFB wheel, like simulate wheel trail and feel how the Steering wheel behaves, or when you pass from grip to understeer, or during a Oversteer where the steering wheel should rotate by itselt to reach the angle of inertia. 2024 and nobody is implementing this, you have to do it yourself and when you explain it to someone, You just appear like a crazy Person!!!

If you have Force Feedback Strength in the control panel/Fanalab, the wheelbase will not be able to hold the full strength for a "long" period. All DD wheels have this feature - holding torque at maximum strength will vary in a way which makes the information conveyed to the driver inconsistent. By selecting "Linear" the wheelbase will ensure there is a constant maximum holding torque even at the highest feedback. The forces can go over this, so you are not wasting Nm, but there will be enough overhead to prevent holding torque and effect clipping AND reduces the chance of overheating.
