Used to service quite a few customers, mostly in mobile home parks. Never left a unit as dirty as the one you were working on. Always prepped for the winter, and serviced just before use. I've found the monthly cleaning and removing of built-up mineral deposits goes along way.

I appreciate this video! The only thing I didn't know how to fix was the distribution tubes and how to change out the pads, someone always does it for me and this year I'm on my own!! Now I feel more confident to climb on the roof to do it myself

I used to work at a hardware store and I use the mesh filter and the basket. To me there was always something that I felt was weird because it says that the basket is called the filter basket. now does that mean that it is a filter itself? or is it a basket for the filter? I saw another guy mention that you're supposed to use both. You put the mesh filter in the basket and use both of them together. Again if you think about it that basket says that it's a filter basket. To me that sounds like it is a basket for the filter not that it's a filter itself and it makes sense because the holes are awfully big in that basket to be catching aspen wood. If they really meant for the basket to be a filter itself you would think they would have called it a basket filter not a filter basket

Was hoping to learn how tight the belt should be. Thanks for the great instruction.

The one in the video isn't a Master Cool - but the one on the other side of our house is. We have had them for YEARS!!

I oiled my squirrel cage bearings but I didn’t have any holes on my motor bearings. Yours had the yellow caps and I was wondering do all swamp cooler motors have oil points there?

Hi Your motor may have sealed bearings, so you won't have to worry about the motor annually.

Hi can you have a gap in between or at the ends of the swamp cooler pads?

The pads should be touching to be effective.

Hey there. I have a swamp cooler that the spec motor is 1.3 hp and costs over $300.00 to replace. Could I use a 1 hp motor and get the the same cooling? 1hp is a hellava lot cheaper motor.

Hi Ross. My swamp cooler just began cutting on and off on the low switch. It works fine on the high switch. Recently had my mobile home painted and they sprayed the cooler on the outside. What could possibly be wrong? Thank you.

Could be a couple things. Most common, the thermostat wire coming through the roof may be sun rotted and the wire broke. I had this on a customers and had to strip the jacket off to find the break. The other is the control box in the cooler is having issues. Hard to trouble shoot. You will need a volt meter.

If you live far from town and don't have the same kind of oil for the bearings is it ok to use WD40?

It really needs oil, but if it's just for a couple days it will be fine

Where to put the oil on the motor like a shows in your video I don't have those little plugs. I can't see a whole the oil

It's best to call a heating and cooling contractor. Not sure on the price, I would call around to independent shops for the best price.

I believe the basket is the filter. Any debris that gets through it will be pumped through. The more volume of water that you can pass through the more effective the cooling pad will be. You may have to inspect the pad saturation more often to make sure the distribution tub(s) are not plugged.

what might be the problem if your water pump doesnt pump water up to the dispenser unless you hold down the small black test button? located near the electrical box where you conect the cable for the water pump. and as soon as you release that small test button, the water pump stops again and do not pump water up. thanks in advance, man.

It sounds like your reset button is bad. I honestly haven't came across a button on a swamp cooler before. I would suggest testing it with a volt meter.

Mine has a setting where the orange light turns on just wondering does that mean its cooler air idk

what is the question?

I have a Champion cooler and it is just one big pile of rust, who ever thought it was a good idea to use a metal that rust. All the paint just flakes off. I think stainless steel or plastic might be a wiser Choice next time.

If your pump not working? It is one of those items that either works or doesn't. If it isn't working, meaning not pumping any water, then it needs replaced.

You didn't show the proper tention on the fan belt. Poor.
