When the humidity is real high and the cooling effects are nulled by the high humidity ,,turn off the water pump and or water flow to the pads ,this creates a dehumidifier which will improve the cooling effect by removing moisture from the air..and if anything throw a basg of ice in the cooler ..i do it when the cooling effects are nulled by high humidity and it does work

What's the best way to circulate the air upstairs besides cracking the windows do you think? A fan on the steps or...?

Remember the cooler is pulling air from outside. Air must leave the house to ensure max air flow.

Can u use ice water to make it cooler

  • @rob4197

Yes but the ice won't last outdoor. Works better with indoor units (portable). Make the ice whie the house is cooler because freezers do generate heat making the ice.

HELLO.................your not explaining to people they should crack windows furthest from the swamp cooler to draw the cooler air to other rooms ...and in two story houses adjust the windows... up stairs... to draw the air up and push out the hot air ... .........People are opening windows in the same room where the swamp cooler is and it is not cooling .....other rooms.....My father taught me this when I was a child......HAPPY FATHERS DAY DAD.....LOVE YOU IN HEAVEN......

use celdek or aspen pads, those synthetic pads are ineffective

You beat me to it. I was going to suggest the first thing you should do is to get rid of those ineffective blue plastic cooler pads and replace with the Best pads nice thick Aspen pads.

I don’t understand how to get the best results with my SHIT COOLER. My cooler is on my roof - I’m on the 1st floor - one floor above me. When it’s 100 out I’m hot as hell. Do I crack all my windows? I have a vent in every room. Thanks!

Hi Jotty, we would recommend you open more windows to pull air from the cooler into the home. If you open your door and it suctions to the frame or slams shut you don't have enough air circulating through the house. Unfortunately, most standard swamp coolers will only cool about 15 degrees lower than the outdoor temperature and on 100 degree days it may not be enough. If you continue to have problems or it only blows hot air we recommend calling a professional to evaluate if there is a problem. If there is a particularly hotter part in your home you should open more windows in that area to get more of the air from the cooler to circulate in that room. Thank you for your question.

Use aspen pads only and double them up.Never use blue pads! Coolers don't work well over 35 percent humidity. Also I have one window 45 percent open where I live it helps more than all windows cracked.
