"I wrote the song when I was in quite a dark place. I was in a toxic relationship that was destroying me, the song is really about how sometimes when you're in a toxic relationship you change yourself for the other person, but you start to hate yourself for it....

This song is beautiful! Even if Amy didn't write this i can really tell she put herself into this song, The emotion in her voice is so raw and strong. I've all way's loved her ballads the best out of her other song's, but this one by far is the best.

I love the quieter songs because they have so much meaning and the lyrics are stunning. There are really no words to describe this kind of music - yes it is depressing and it concerns the things society would like to hide under the rug, but to those who have ever been or are depressed it means so much more. Seriously when I tell people I LOVE Evanescence they automatically tag me as emo or whatever, no I am sorry I am not perfect but we all go through something and Amy Lee just knows how to let people know that she is there feeling the same way.

This song reminds me of my relationship with my mom. She'd manipulate me beyond belief, play mind games to make me doubt reality. Eventually it was as if I was looking at life through a mirror. Her passive aggressive comments meant to stir up pain were subtle. Too small to matter, but big enough to cut me into pieces. If I tried talking to her about it I was delusional. I hope noone ever has to go through something like that. I appreciate Evanescence for articulating those feelings so well.
