I flew EVA Air recently (May 2023). The check in was smooth and organized. Flights were all on schedule (as I did a connecting flight from MNL - TPE, and TPE - YYZ). Even their short-haul two-hour flight from Manila to Taipei had full meal service, and they also served wine on an economy class. I enjoyed every meal served, except for the seafood with tomato concasse. I'd say probably opt for the pork cutlet option. The bread was always served soft and warm which is very nice. The flight attendants, however, sounded quite sassy at times, but I think it's only because they are strict and professional in terms of safety and comfort as their main priorities during the flight, as all airlines' cabin crew should be. They are very helpful, nonetheless. The economy seat had more legroom than any other airline I have ever flown so far. The airline itself was very neat and clean. I can see why it's been awarded a 5-star airline. A great and pleasant flight experience above all.

well presented. and thank you for introducing me to Eva Air. never knew about them as i live in the Midwest, so all we have here are the usual suspects in my non-hub international airport. now i am looking at Eva from SFO to Taipei then onward. And for Economy, wow!!

Brilliant trip report! I find the crew very professional that they stick a sticker to ask passengers who are sleeping if they wanted to have the meal that they have missed. None of the airlines I have flown with do that except EVA AIR

Nice video. I really like Eva Air. They are so well organized from Check in, Boarding , inside the, and deboarding. Catering is always good. Whichever class you are, the put a sticker on the back of your seat when you are sleeping and will really serve the meal once you are awake. Crew is always there anytime. Now they're back after Covid. See you again Eva Air.

Eva has improved the cabin quite a bit since I last flew with them, they didn't have that ambience before. Food looks good though! Wonderful take off audio too. 🥰 September, things weren't too bad yet and we were all able to travel, wow those were the times huh?

i flew EVA Air back in June, 2023, from SFO-TPE, Premium Eco, B-16730, great service, great crew, nice food. Also to SGN and back to SFO via EVA Air, but flew on older cabin. Still great. I would pick EVA for my Asia trip. (ps: I think 1 of the flight attendant that served you in economy was also the one who served me on BR28 to SFO in PE)

Before the pandemic shutdown I was flying Eva Air Houston to Taipei to Philippines in premium economy between $1500 to $2000. Now they are asking $2400 and up for premium economy. Im flying Eva economy twice this year and again this week for around $1000 RT.

I fly to Philippines very often and Eva Air is by far my favorite Airline to fly with. The seats are comfortable, legroom is decent and the food is overall pretty good. Another reason I prefer eva is having a layover in Taipei and being able to use the showers they have there. That in itself can make a long haul flight that much more tolerable.

Actually EVA has both 9 and 10 across on their 777s, 10 aircraft (the newest units) have the 10-across. Sad but it's the industry normal. I agree with the service standards, generally I find that EVA is far more consistent than what Cathay Pacific is offering, especially now with their shortfall in staff as well as aircraft (post-COVID).

At 25:10, Next time you fly EVA Air, for the second meal before landing, I would recommend getting the Porridge selection. It really is a highlight from their flights that other airlines don't offer, probably as tasty if not tastier than the other selection. Generally a rule of thumb flying Asian carriers, it's a better bet ordering their local cuisine vs. the Western selection bc they do a much better job preparing the local dish.

I flew Eva air back in May 2014 from Seattle international airport to Taipei international airport when I first visited Cambodia.

OMG! I MISSED Taoyuan airport and EVA AIR!! I was supposed to travel to Taiwan at this time but freaking Covid has to ruin my plan UGH!! D:

I'm flying EVA Y-class in a few weeks, with 9-abreast and 10-abreast 77W mixed in. Let's see what difference it's going to be as I have wide shoulders, and every inch of width counts.

I have never heard of Eva Air until now. I am flying to Japan in 7 months with a stopover in Taiwan and the travel company I used booked my flight. I do look forward to this airline because it looks far better and comfortable than the airlines I've flown previously and they were shorter flights. Thank you for your review

This is a well run airline but 10 abreast in economy with a 17” width isn’t anything. Flew them in 2006 with 9 abreast and 18” width 33-34” pitch. Completely different experience ,

After one unfortunate experience of 10 abreast econ on a 77W about 10 years ago it was enough to do me in for a lifetime and I have been lucky enough since then to fly about 50-60 times a year, about half on wide-body, but never repeat it. Takes some careful planning but still doable. Other options are out there - Long may it last!

I always take Eva air and they always ask if we are sleeping would they wake us up for the meal or no

Like ANA and Cathay, these lots tends to provide good service for a non national carrier.

On EVA Air long haul routes, Basic doesn’t include seat selection but Standard does. In Standard you also earn more frequent flyer miles and you can upgrade using miles. Hope that helps!

They were pretty comfortable! A decent amount of padding so I wasn’t sore after the long flight

This is standard economy!

What speaks for EVA is the fact that they have 9 seats in a row in eco. Even 5 star airline Qatar has 10 ( 3-4-3 ). It doesn't matter that much but you have at least a bit more space on a very long haul flight like this.

Unfortunately the Bean Counters have triumphed at EVA and their more recent B777-300ERs are 3-4-3 , I believe that they are also in the process of changing their older aircraft to this configuration.

How much is the extra luggage for international flight?

I'm celiac plus vegetarian so bring my own food. Get it from backpack in overhead bin . Plus always pay for exit row seat by window. I pick seat in advance . 6 ft tall so never care about the extra fee.14-15 hour flights are murder without.

If you are booked on 1 ticket with an international to international connection, then no you don’t need to collect your luggage (which was my case in this video). Hope that helps!

EVA Air is a Taiwanese privately owned airline which belong to Evergreen Group. Starlux airlines is also a privately owned airlines but China Airlines, the flag carrier of Taiwan, has a major shareholder with Taiwanese Government.

Do your research. Many airlines still 3x3x3

Warning!!! If you plan on booking a flight with EVA from the U.S. to Southeast Asia, don't do it. You will be waisting your time. Over the past year, I have booked two flights on EVA Air to Thailand, with stops in Taipei, Taiwan.............. and both were cancelled??? I am assuming that they are not busy enough to fill the plane, so they just cancel the flight and leave travelers hanging.

You are saying like other airlines will not cancel their flights, only EVA does. If they cancel your flight, you get the money back without penalty or they re-schedule you to another day. I have flown EVA and everything is fine, They are on time and provide good services.

@@KevinCao2011 That comment is 10 months old and he is correct. Eva cancelled my flights at least 3 times but they were still selling tickets. Why sell tickets if they were cancelling flights, is his point at that time. Im flying Eva Aug 4th 2022.

I understand that Covid is not as serious as before, but there are people who are still afraid to travel. My point is you cannot just boycott an airline because they cancel their flights during the crazy situation of Covid.

@@BOOTY_BALLS Yep..I made the flight LAX to Taipei. But arriving in Taipei they treated all passengers as if we were infected hahaha. As we disembarked, we were separated by connecting flights and were given colored stickers to wear. We were escorted all the way thru transfer security and to a holding area and we were told to wait there til 30 mins before our flight was to depart. An Eva air employee escorted us to our gate, and we boarded the plane to the Philippines. We are all fully vaccinated with booster and wearing mask. Taiwan doesn't give a damn hahaha!! But return flight Sept 1 all those restrictions were dropped, and it was back to normal going thru transit.

My opinion about Eva Air, really really bad. The worst of the worst. Flew from Amsterdam to Bangkok, luggage dropoff at Amsterdam Airport was slow and took a long time, online seat reservation is crap. The automatic appointed seat reservation is really bad. The price of the ticket was too much.
