European Festivals II
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2018 | In this second of two episodes on Europe's greatest festivals, we'll dance with Spaniards at Sevilla's April Fair, celebrate Bastille Day in Paris, run with the bulls at Pamplona, and hoist a frothy stein at Munich's Oktoberfest. And we'll celebrate a traditional family Christmas, browsing the holiday market in Nürnberg and sledding down alpine slopes by torchlight in Switzerland. With the entire Continent as our playground, fun is our mission. #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #europe

Same here! I have always been a huge fan of Rick. I met him at a travel show a few years ago. He’s a very nice guy with great information on how to make your trip fascinating, and easy. Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to travel to Europe. I hope to travel there in the future

I know everyone talks about the beer, but that food looks amazing.
Great festivals, not stuff just put on for show for tourists but real traditions going back hundreds of years.

Running for our lives? Sounds like fun.
thank you so much for uploading to youtube! love your videos so much!
I just saw this on PBS! I love the way that Steve presents so many great places and highlights every single one. This reminds me of my first visit to Europe!
Germany and Gimmelwald was my favorite part. Was in Lauterbrunnen May 2018. Stationed in Germany 1975-1978. Also visited in May
Top video as always, I feel so privileged to live in this great continent, Spain specifically.
Cool video Rick Steves! I like the Oktoberfest beer drinking party! The winter Christmas festivities looked really fun. I would go there to drink beer and mess around in the snow. 😆😁🙂

Me too.
Wonderful festivals.
I usually love these, but half of it I already saw in the xmas episode. I was hoping for some smaller festivals in unfamiliar countries
Great stuff Steve
re: France's National Holiday, celebrated on 14th July, no-one in France calls it "Bastille Day"; only the Anglo-Saxons do, for some obscure reason. The storming of the Bastille was, for the revolutionaries, in order to seize the arms, gun powder, etc. that were stocked there as it was then used as an armory. As a prison, there were just a handful of (forgotten) prisoners that were liberated on the occasion. It's become a symbol of the abolition of the monarch's despotism, and the building was subsequently destroyed.
Heck, per other recent Oktoberfest videos on KZread, I didn't know that "old" people were among the revelers. Rick Steves found 'em, though. It''s cool that the young crowd has taken to traditional Bavarian costumes ... whether they're from Bavaria or Australia or Japan.
"No museum and no art .......", you understood. I like your opening declaration.
i love it at 5:01 it reminds me of living in norway kina but it romania
Rick sir you are the best traveler ever I seen... Can you make documentary on Australia...I love Adelaide city ❤️🙏

The running of the bulls . . . . Wow.
I couldn't do the running of the bulls. I can't run and I'm not a very stalwart person. I don't think my life insurance even covers that.
What is the music at 23 minutes? I think it's Bach but I just can't place it. Thanks in advance!

Same question. It's been bothering me too. I used to hear it as a kid and it triggered a lot of indescribable feelings

@@hunkhk Yes, it's Ave Maria but not by Schubert. This is the Ave Maria by Bach/Gounod. Thanks for the clue!
Too many to take in
10:57 song name ?
12:09 a man was crushed at the edge of the gate when it closed.
This video is a re-upload from a video posted long ago before Rick Steve's hair started turning gray. This seems a bit disingenuous. Very disappointed.
