'The surrender of Maine' event has a mean time to happen of 36 months by the way. So you have to get pretty lucky to get it to fire in the first few months...

This series is what introduced me to eu4, thanks Pravus!

I once had the Maine event fire on literally the third day, as in the 14th of November, 1444. Took me by complete surprise.

I was furious when you broke off that alliance with Portugal, do you understand how long that alliance has been going on. Seriously I believe it was one of the longest lasting alliances.

@Pravus You can click on a province on want your allies to take or be at, and simply "assign objectives" on the province tab, it says no objective by default, but you can choose which ally you want to attack the province for you

God, I missed seeing you playing this game

Thanks a lot. I use very much the release vassals strat, but i knew something was missing. I had 3 diplo slots full, 2 French vassals and the pu, and that can complicate a lot. It's not hard at all, and really boosts the campaign

man, you take to much attrition with these full stacks sieges... o.O

Pravus I'm not sure you realize how lucky your start was that Burgundy didn't start as your rival, it seems to happen like 90% of the time these days. I mean yeah ideally Aragon would have also rivaled France which they do around 50% of the time but that would have been truly insane. Still a very nice opening getting France down in the initial war.

Was watching this and decided to try for it too. Maine fired on the 18th of November. Much lulz was had.

I'd recommend to play on speed 4 or 3 while at war. You tend to make small mistakes, and small mistakes can have big consequences and those do add up over time. EDIT: Nevermind.

Just started a Scotland game where the Surrender of Maine fired on the 7th of December 1444, which is less than a month into the campaign.

Tip. The AI won't move for nothing an army that is sieging a fort. Keep that in mind when planning your attacks. Sometimes is better to let them start the siege with the main army while you stackwhipe the others and then with reinforcements from the fort kill the last one. Also, once you get arty remember to use arty barrage on forts to peace out enemy allies quickly

I find a good strategy for winning the Hundred Years War is to release Gascony as a vassal. They have cores on a lot more French provinces than Britain, which lets you claim them at reduced warscore and take a bigger chunk out of France in the first war.

I started my english campaign recently and castile helps so much. Expectially when they pu aragon

I recently started a vanilla campaign (with no DLCs because I'm quite poor) as France and started to conquer Britain. So as of now, you're my enemy for as long as I play England in EU IV and I will be France. >;( (Hope it'll be a good series, though!)

Ile de France -- Eel de France. Keep going -- you do great with your pronunciation when you follow your gut, Pravus. Also - Valois -- val-WAH. But that's just French being its weird self. :D

At around 2:50 you mention can release Normandy, but you can also release Alençon and give it Maine, and keep those sea provinces

I always put seats in lower dev provinces because they want monarch points in a ton of elections. Every point of dev equates to 4 corresponding MP in elections, so a 7 tax province could want 28 adm in an election.

I've always made all my British provinces into seats of parliament due to the bonuses, is there any reason not to do this other than the additional costs of passing bills? I feel like the economic bonuses are worth it but I'm probably missing something.
