Just something i noticed in you'r other playtroughs with(especially ) big PU's (and this works on vassals too), you can develop their land, this gives 5% less liberty desire per 1 development. As often you sit on a lot of monarch power. It doesn't make them much stronger, and when annexed you get it back :) And remember that vassals and pu's don't share power calculation when it comes to liberty desire. War of the roses mission will finish when next age starts. There is also a subjugate sclotland war goal from a mission in there somewhere.

Yeah there's an ingame mechanic that makes your army less effective if more than half your army is cavaly. I usually tend to make my cavalry just 1/3 of my army, seems to be a good balance to me at least

If he makes it the Age of Reformation without it firing, the mission completes.

The war of the roses mission has two either or victory conditions, either you win the war of the roses or reach the age of reformation without triggering it both work.

The peace treaty that saw the last piece of Ireland to fall under Englsih control came into afect on March 17th - St Patrick's Day. I think I can hear the IRA marching on Pravus' house.

Pravus you dont want for your estates to have more then 70 influence cause there is event that has a very high chance of firing that increase their influence by 10 or 15 for 10 years

Huh... good idea would have been to sink his ships, give Aragon his province of Rioja, taken Viscaya and left Nevarra to Castile. their troops would have most likely gone back there ... this would have left Granadian separatists without any worry of troops.

you should after killing Scotland take over Norway and if i remember correctly since your still in the first age you can do a war goal to take the throne of a lesser member in a personal union so you might be able to take Norway from Denmark or otherwise just take all their islands so you can get first dibs on the new world

Good starting nation is Portugal because it often starts on very good terms with Castile by default and it's surrounded by it. I would recommend you to watch tutorial videos made by Quill18. He describes there a lot of basic mechanisms (some of them are not in the game anymore but the core is the same basically). It's better to watch several videos where is described everything than be constantly annoyed by complicated principles which aren't explained anywhere in the game. But go for it. Even with a huge investment into DLCs the game will give you hundreds hours of gameplay.

That is naval doctrine. Pay money and get a bonus (better galleys, better trade ships ect). I think it's from the Rule Britannia DLC.

When I play on speed 5 I lose a blackflagged megastack in Egypt as all kinds of shit hit the fan.

Howcome there isnt a nobles estate? sorry if this is an obvious question

btw theres as easier way to do the start as england, you can sell Maine to Brittany right at the beginning, this way you avoid the entire surrender event and can take it at your own pace. You also need to remember that the CB to vassal scotland only lasts 10 years, and the CB to PU france expires in like 1500 iirc. What i like to do is sell Maine, vassalise scotland, to get France out of the war i give them labourd and bordeaux, thats enough to get them to peace out, tho make sure you delete all the forts in France so France cant get much warscore on you from sieging them. Then once you vassal Scotland, and start on the Irish until you have allies to call on France, using your claims on the Ile de France area that you get from the first mission. You take that state including Paris, and trigger the mission nthat gives the PU CB, then later when the truce is up you fight a weaker France again and PU them. The benefit is that France will be weaker while you are stronger so lib desire isnt as much of an issue and coalitions wont form. You also really want to take advantage of the vassal CB on Scotland because just like with forming spain, you instantly inherit scotland when you form Britian diplomatically, which means not paying any coring or diplo annexing costs for them. Doing it this way you will have the entire British Isles, plus a French PU by 1500

Don’t annex France diplomatically. If you are lucky you can inherit them when your monarch dies.

For France, the chance is ridiculously low. It's calculated on Target Country Size (No. Of provinces) vs Stability+Diplomatic Reputation. He'd have to stack diplo rep pretty hard for him to even have a chance.

just thought id let you know, but dont form Great Britain until after you complete the English missions. Anglophile requires you complete every English mission and every Great British mission. :)

kinda copied this in my playthrough and its goining great i got a pu with poland and gelre on top of france and now its just easy game until the end noticed that in rule britannia poland doesnt get the pu over lithuania quite often which is strange

I noticed that before the dlc Poland normally took the PU decision but now its more 50/50 in taking the local lord option instead of forming the PU

yeah that's basically what i see now, tbh i'm wondering that it might actually not be the worst decision because most of the time if poland goes alone it gets a leader with 15+ stats

Castille isn't that strong at the start of the game, and if you can get lucky with the Iberian Wedding not firing, or just cripple them early, by eating navarra and northern spain, they are absolutely useless.

Dude I love your series, but you should strongly lean to restart this achievment run or focus hard on abdicating as current ruler.. For anglophile achievment you need to trigger war of the roses for which you CANT have heir. Look some up on EU4 wiki and guides please,, i want the series to continue so much. Great distraction at work ;)

Mission doesn't require war of the roses to actually fire. The mission can be completed merely by reaching the age of reformation without it triggering.

-wants the war of the roses- -gets into royal marriages that can get him heirs- -afraid of irish coalition when taking Scottish provinces even though he's a powerhouse- -continues to declare war on every county that would have been in the coalition anyway- This is painful to watch, but I'm still powering through

How is investing 100 money to gain 0.16 per month back worth it? The break even point will be after more than 50 years... Never understood those stupid game mechanis. In total war games it is even worse.
