TheScoutnation im doing it too, its important to note that every game of eu4 is different. In my game Spain is a big problem since they ate Portugal and annexed aragon and naples on the other hand I colonized way sooner and im pushing my way toward germany area because the empire is broken due to religion infights. Even if it appears you are funther behind compared to him maybe you just got a harder chain of events.

Drilling doesn't increase the ruler's chance of dying. Though I'm not sure if it did in the past or not.

yep. rookie mistakes there. also adding a merchant sending power back to your trade post, increases total money earned, even if he doesnt steer money. It's a bonus modifier when you send money to main trade post

I'm rewatching your Venice playthrough rn and you just finished the first crusade against the Ottomans, so seeing them calling one against the Ottomans in this game was slightly confusing for a few seconds

Portugal owns all of Haiti. Haiti is comprised of five provinces. That means either they have their capital here or they still have a colonist working in one of these provinces. If they have their capital in Africa (You can see in the video that they don't have it in Portugal proper.), then their colonial nation in Carribean will show-up and they'll have a problem. They will have equal amount of provinces and possibly smaller development, so, unless they have good allies (were they allied to Castille? I don't remember.) or you will do something about it, I think we could see independent Haiti soon, colonizing their home region. Or Portugal, colonizing their NEW home region, if they actually have capital in Haiti now.

My Lord Pravus, I may praise you but the last video or two for Anglophile have made me cringe a little. You could have started the annexation of France before joining the war. You hadn't converted yet at that point. Also, it's a horrible idea to convert provinces next to your center of Reformation. They convert those provinces first anyways and you could have converted high religious unity giving provinces in the meantime. On the missionary front, you could have saved up to be the defender of the faith if you didn't compulsively buy buildings. EDIT: Also, Coastal Barrage should still be the best Age of Reformation bonus you can take. I'm fairly certain it's still bugged to give +1 siege bonus to even inland sieges.

The priority here would be converting the provinces in Iberia because they're out of range of the center of reformation. Also choosing Army Professionalism over Army Tradition made me cringe, I mean the benefits of army tradition are waaaay better, especially during a war since it gives you better morale, better morale recovery, better manpower recovery and better siege ability.

Please become Defender of the Faith, you're the only Anglican, so there are no drawbacks exccept for the slight tech cost increase. And it gives an extra Missionary.

When you sent ships on a search with that menu they not get atrition. So you can send them anywhere.

ABM1 Norfolk is said in both ways depending on where you live, i live in suffolk and here the east we say it quick as norf-uck, I've just got used to saying it like that sibce i moved due to the local accent. And in the uk most people say shire lazily like me as sheer. It's just a weird english thing. But even on the news it's northampton-sheer as in sheep sheer rather than lord of the rings shire.

This must have changed recently. In my Brunei game, I sent 4 ships out to circumnavigate the globe and I lost 3 of them and almost lost the last one. And now I can't cancel the mission, and I can't use the reassign trick because it says I cannot reassign the leader until the mission is complete. So I am gonna lose the leader and the last ship soon...

The best thing to do when you convert to another religion is to convert the high development provinces first because you don't be able to do it without religious zeal.

Just the little quality of life improvements that get locked behind a paywall like being able to upgrade ships or being able to cancel ideas or being able to get so many extra monarch points in general to make the game easier

Iain Howe I can understand putting extra things in as dlc, like army professionalism or estates or parliament. They expand upon the game and just add in a new experience for a campaign. I’ll gladly pay for that. But when there’s certain annoyances with the gameplay that you have to pay to get rid of or it’s pay to have an easier game, that’s what bothers me

I see what you mean - but many of these 'quality of life' improvements come from iterative evolution of the game. Paradox games get development times of upwards of a decade, in some cases, which is highly unusual. I look at EUIV as it is now as being EUV or EUVI as a consequence of the constant improvement. Rather than paying $60 once every two years, I spend $10 to $20 every six months.

Iain Howe I guess that’s how our game purchase styles differ I suppose. I don’t have a constant flow of income since I don’t have a job yet, so I’ll save up money for big purchases (60 every 2 years) as opposed to incremental buys (10 every couple of months.) I do see your point once you put it that way. I have 500 h in EU4 without any DLC and I bought on a sale, so I’ve gotten more than my money’s worth.

Nor-folk makes me laugh! It's pronounced Nor-fuhk if that interests you.

Stop begging.

One nation can colonize the New World, don't vassalize Castile or Portugal for their colonizing, because the colonies would be the wrong religion and culture, Portugal can colonize as they have the Caribbean, Savoy isn't useless you just don't give them a reason.
