Having watched the Defunctland episode on Action Park, the information here wasn't new to me, but I love hearing the reactions from Mandy and Caelan.

So I was playing a game while listening to this, and I hope y'all enjoy the fact that as soon as Hoots said, "But if you live in New Jersey" an ominious thunder cracking/thud occurred in game. Even modded minecraft thinks living in New Jersey is ominious lol

My parents show me their scars from this place fr. My dad's friend broke I think three teeth on that slide 😭 they thought it was a great place to hang out as teenagers

Hearing about the Funtown Splashtown theme is bringing up flashbacks of growing up in northern California in the 90s and seeing and hearing regular tv and radio ads for the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk where they took The Riviera's cover of the song California Sun and changed the lyrics to be about the park.

This is quickly becoming my "Monday wake up" video that carries me during the first hours of the work week.

::gasp:: I lived really close to Action Park! It was already pretty infamous when I was a kid so I was never taken there. I was probably saved from some serious bodily injury since I wouldn't think twice at getting on the CEMENT TOBOGGAN. The ads always made that look like so much fun and my stupid little head never once stopped and thought, "what would happen if you feel out of the little cart?" This story is such a wild ride. I'm looking forward to hearing you shred this nightmare location to shreds.

Like Mandy, I also have my local amusement park theme song memorized because of all the ads, but in my case it's the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

I was thinking "I'm so glad that haven't heard of Action Park" when Hoots expressed the same sentiment. I'm so glad you got to hear about it like this. Also I grew up in New Jersey. Caelan, the problem wasn't that there were no witches, the problem was there were too many witches.

[My GenX self] watched the doc Class Action Park a few years ago, and remember being really ticked I didn't live in NJ when I was a teen. I would have worked there in a heartbeat. 🤣

I watched the Class Action Park documentary on HBO with my mom and she said she would have let me go there all the time.

Super weird; In Australia we have a water park about an hours drive from Sydney called Jamberoo Action Park and its slogan is also "Where you control the action" but the two are apparently unrelated despite opening within 3 years of each other.

Fun Town Splash Town sounds a lot like Indiana Beach, a local theme park with a horrible themesong that ingrains itself in your brain.

I grew up with the commercials for this place but my parents refused to take me. Now I realize they weren’t just being The Worst😅

I've got an amusement park in my state that's notorious for being cheap and for legit housing animals in poor conditions so they get a tax break as a zoo called "Lagoon", but Action Park makes Lagoon look like disneyland in comparison. Lagoon might be a cheap ass carnival with the funds to act like an actual park, but at least it doesn't injure or kill people on the regular
