Does the Arlo base station has to be connected all the time to the router or is it needed only the first time during the setup?

I currently own the Arlo Ultra, Eufycam 3 & Solocam s40. That Arlo ultra wide angle is so useful for me & one of the main reasons I can't get rid of it. I am using the Eufy cam to pair with it to see how it compares right but as of now the Arlo Ultra even w/ the monthly fee is very reliable & none of these cams are perfect.

how do you compare video quality and audio quality of the arlo ultra and eufycam 3?

​@@lnz971I have eufy S330 4k camera. Picture quality is no better than 1080p camera. Faces and license plates are not readable beyond 15feet.

Good review, I don't know about Arlo, because I don't have those cameras, I have Eufy 2 and 3 and both of them are not good in fog at night with IR on, but having said that, Eufy is still the best in my opinion and have no charge for storing files.

The Ultra 2 has a security mount that you screw to the mounting location. There is a key that you insert and turn to pop the camera out of the housing. Honestly if someone wants to steal something, they will find a way.

Nothing really, Arlo does have theft protection where if someone steals it and you report it to the police and show that police report to Arlo they will send you a replacement. Eufy, I believe doesn't have theft protection.

You install the camera very high up, and have another camera watching the other camera and recording to cloud(proper way to setup security cameras). And that's very dumb of thief stealing a camera🤷🏽‍♂ Just doubling the crime with the "tampering with evidence" charge.

Arlo is not a good security camera PERIOD...i wish i can return mine but im past the return window. I would not recommend this camera to anyone this camera has a ton of issues... 1) zones dont ever work properly 2) updates will mess up your cameras and you have to go through the process of resetting everything and re-syncing them REALLY TIME CONSUMING like 12-24 hours for the stupid thing to find itself 3) newer models does not record to your base station even with an SD card you NEED a subscription 5) does not record continuously even with someone in frame for 10 minutes it will record only the 1st 20 seconds 5) does not detect people on your property until theyre like 4 feet from the camera YOU CAN NOT PROTECT YOUR HOME IF THE CAMERA ONLY RECORDS THE 1ST 20 SECONDS OF A BURGLARY OR ONLY WHEN THE BURGLER IS 4 FT FROM THE CAMERA THIS CAMERA IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST PURCHASE IVE EVER MADE Save yourself the headache DO NOT BUY this camera

I was in two minds between Arlo and Eufy and so confused as to which security system to part my $700-$800 for, but after reading this comment and based on no monthly fees for continuous storage, I think I might go with Eufycam 3C 4K. What does everyone else think?

@NoBoostNick I have the Ultra 4k it comes with 3 cameras and a base station...if anyone wants this headache I'll sell it for half what I got it for lmao thing cost me almost $1,000
