etnies Presents: Ryan Sheckler's Fifteen Years Strong

Спорт

Created by skate videographer Mike Manzoori, etnies' Fifteen Years Strong visually tells Ryan's skate history with etnies over the last 15 years through video clips, photos and interviews with industry vets, photographers and pros. Through their first-hand stories of Sheckler's rise in skateboarding, Oliver Barton, Ricki Bedenbaugh, Atiba Jefferson, Mike Manzoori, Arto Saari and more explain how Sheckler became one of the best and most celebrated skateboarders of our time.

Anto it’s true. A. Almost’s team is essentially dead, so he made a good move to further his career, and B. Although Etnies WAS cool in the very early 2000s (mainly for girls who wanted dick way too early on in their lives at least in my town) it’s not now, nor has it been in years, it’s almost a brand that doesn’t even reach the forefront of your mind when you think of skate brands, yet he has stayed with them through and through. In all my time skating, which i started in 08-09 before I even got a Facebook, I’ve never skated etnies, but they’ve always been there for him, and he’s always been there for them.

@@jakemcsteakful As someone who has been skating since the '90's, I can say that nobody was wearing these then. The only shoes by Nike that anyone skated in (of all the skaters I knew) were the Air Jordan's. It actually wasn't a bad skate shoe. People were wearing Chukka's, Airwalks (which the Choad is an obvious knock off) and stuff like that. Nike was not doing any real marketing in the skate arena. It's not like Nike was doing full page ads in every Big Brother, Thrasher or Transworld. Nike just didn't care about skating in the 90's. If your experience of those times was different than mine, let me know. My guess is that you weren't skating at that time to have as much perspective as I. This isn't meant to be an insult, I have just been skating a while and have seen it change, get big, and then saw Nike start to care about it.

Seeing his mannerisms in this interview make me realize he was still unhealthy, mentally and physically. You really never know what someone is going through. So happy to see the true healthy Sheckler in 2022. What a stud

Mad bloody props to Ryan Sheckler.. I don't care what anyone has to say on a negative level.. He just rocks up to a massive gap/ rail/ set and straight staunches the spot.. Maybe a little hint as to why Chris Joslin is on the same shoe sponsor/ board team..! Dominus vobiscum..

I remember seeing like a 24 sec clip of him when he ‘single digit’ young - prob 7 yrs old and i think his dad was w/ him filming the clip. It’s on KZread - it’s where i saw it but he was really young, and he was skating this one park, kickflips and some grinds and i kept watching the clip over and over cuz i was like, damn this lil kid can skate and he’s gonna be somebody when he grows up. After seeing it i was like, i hope he sticks w/ it cuz he’s gonna be one of the great ones i think... and look at him now.
