Sort of a loaded question. You'd probably need a piston ring compressor for your engine size, but it definitely depends on what kind of motor you're talking about. 2-stroke would be no problem. A bigger 4-stroke you'd really have to know what you're doing and keep things clean. You also might need an engine hoist for engine removal, and specialty tools depending on the car model. I know nothing about diesels, so I wouldn't try anything more complicated than bleeding the fuel system on one.
