I met Mr. Tubb in 1968 - he invited me into his bus. I got to talk with him. He was so nice to me (I was a kid - 14 yrs). He sang a song for me and picked me out in the audience. I have a complete set of his singles - 78 and 45 RPM. Waltz Across Texas was written by E.T.'s nephew, Billy Talmadge Tubb. Originally recorded 19, April, 1965 (6 - 9 p.m.) in Nashville . (record # Decca 31824)
The word "legend" has been applied so liberally that it's meaning is often lost but Ernest truly lived up to that billing. He was renowned for his idiosyncratic phrasing which endeared him to so many people. His personal charisma and warmth are very much on display on this live recording. Thanks again for another excellent reaction, Don, and keep rockin' that country.

You know you have become a legend when other singers reference you in their songs and everybody instantly recognizes the reference. That is Ernest Tubb.
Ol Ernest Tubb! Man his music still bumps in this truck
You going back to the old files for this one. 👍
Just saw this video. I grew up around his music and Texas dance halls. Texas dance halls are an entirely different thing than you'll find in other parts of the nation. My uncle was a playmate and best friend of earnest back in the late 20s early 30s. Earnest and his family moved to la peara, TX for a while. His music just fits those hot sultry Texas nights.
My dad was a huge fan of Ernest Tubb
Love the Longhorns cap. And ET
Loved Ernest! Also, Hank Snow singing With this Ring I Thee Wed. Yeah, I got lost in the 50's (:
The Great Troubadour, the Legend ,Mr.Ernest Tubb ❤❤❤❤❤
A song to go along with this is Vern Gosdin "Set up Joe".

My husband and I danced at our wedding to this song, not our first dance but one of them. The DJ played at my sister in laws wedding too last weekend. We danced to it then too.
Thanks for both the review and wearing a Longhorn cap. The song was written by his nephew Talmadge Tubb.

@workoutfan You're welcome on both counts, and welcome aboard the channel!
I first heard this song on a CD of Waylon Jenning's greatest hits. Waylon's deep voice is perfect for this tune I must say, but Mr. Tubb here puts this song on like a well-worn old suitcoat.
If this don't just warm your heart...I don't know what will. This is my America...thank you for not rating it...it's says alot about you. Love those beautiful colors your sportin' today Don! :-)
I have loved this song since I was a little girl. It brings back Great memories of dancing in our kitchen with my Mother,. She loved the song to. 💗 Thanks for picking this one !😊
Ernest Tubb is a legend. How about Junior Brown's "My Baby Don't Dance To Nothing But Ernest Tubb."
Love Ernest Tubb! Check out Drivin' Nails in My Coffin by him. Also check out Cattle Call by Eddy Arnold. You can't beat the classic country artists!
Smoke and Flames used to come off of the Luchesses! Lmbo !!! Memories !!! Thanks Don !!!!
My great-grandmother babysat ET's kids back in the day. I've always loved his music and he was always playing no the stereo at my grandparents' house. Great music--great memories.
Just a classic song... Thanks for playing it .... some songs are timeless
Ernest Tubb is a country great to say the least.
This IS country music.
love this tune
love it good to dance to
Waltzes and the two step are the foundation dances in Texas - at least in the ice houses and dance halls that I grew up in. There are still dozens of these places in Texas - some are now historic landmarks, especially in the Hill country. The story behind them and in part this song would be worthy of a PhD in Texas history as to the best of my knowledge they exist no place else in America. A band can make a good living just playing them in the circuit that they make. This song has been covered a zillion times but it's always ETs song. I can hear my Grandfather sing it in my mind and he has been dead 30 years now. Love it.

Many of those places still exist, along with Community Halls, especially in Small towns and communities that are not even big enough to be called a town. It is where most Texas stars got their start.
Goin DEEEEEP into the wayback machine for this one kiddies.....great song. Kool , loved the video. Wonderful, easy laid back just let the music and lyrics slide off of you and across the dance floor.....smooth.
What a legend ET was very loved and respected. The man playing the drums is Jack Greene. Don i can't remember never hearing this song
I could be wrong but I think the "Texas Waltz" came from this song....one of the first dances along with the "Two-Step" that I learned.
I've just begun a dive into ET thanks to this reaction and everyone's comments! 🐢
I grew up hearing this song from the time i was born in 1980. I love hearing the classics like this song. Not many of the newer artists do this kind of country anymore.
I danced with my pops when I was young to all these oldies 😁
Yes it jack green on the drums at this point in the troubdors history elk hunter try also driven nails in my coffin and set up two glasses joe live ol et
That's nice. Love Ernest Tubb. Try Driftwood on the River. Been listening and singing along to Ernest since about 1956
To me, this is Ernest's signature song, like Willie Nelson's is On the Road Again. Our young guy, Colter Wall, said he really likes waltzes. On his new album, coming out in Aug., he has a new song called Western Swing and Waltzes. I also saw a video here on YT of Colter singing Irene Goodnight, in Oslo, Norway! That always seemed to be played at the end of the evening when we went to a dance many years ago. (YT is keeping me sane during this covid thing.)
Another fav of my dads wow . Thanks for the verity of songs . From the very early ones to ones of today which you are introducing me to some of which I also like alot . God bless
This is one of those songs that you can listen to without having to wrack your brain to find a hidden meaning. What you hear is what you get. Great. And I did dance to it many times.
Another great old time singer is Red Foley. His signature song was CHATTANOOGIE SHOE SHINE BOY. He also did a World War II song was THERE’LL BE SMOKE ON THE WATER. It would be a bit politically incorrect today but apt for the day.
Now you need to listen to his. signature song, I’M WALKING THE FLOOR OVER YOU.
A great old time singer was Red Foley. THERE’ll BE SMOKE ON THE WATER. This was a very popular World War II song. Would be a bit politically incorrect today, but was apt for it’s day. Red’s signature song was CHATTANNOOGA SHOE SHINE BOY. He also did a lot of Gospel. His best was PEACE IN THE VALLEY
This is amazing. He is a pioneer. Quick fact. I have an album by Ernest Tubb when Merle Haggard was one of his back up singer.
I just heard this song last year (2019) and it's one of my favorite country songs. Could I have this dance by Anne Murray is another of my faves
With the passing of Charlie Daniels today now can you do wooley swamp please. Ernest tubb was my grandfathers favorite . Brought back memories of my Grandfather, Thank you.
A great one to follow is Ernest Tubb "Thanks a Lot" Could be new theme song for the channel
Talk about the new football season is beginning. I hope with the Corona Virus we have a season and kids can get back to memories like in this vidoe . Please react to Kenny Chesney's " The Boys of Fall". This is one I requested several times football fans will 💘💘💘 it
Since I just discovered your channel, I've got a few years of catching up. So, check out Hank Thompson's " Tony's Tank Up Drive-in Cafe " and Cal Smith's " The Lord Knows I'm Drinking " .
4th song my dad played or us he plays steel
Please do Ray Price "Faded Love". Another great man.
Yes, Waltz across Texas seems best for formal occasions-George W Bush used it at his inauguration, which Tubb would have hated. Better Tubb’s version of Big City or Sweet Thang with Loretta Lynn.
Gotta do a Charlie Daniels song. He just passed away.
great artist, and like someone else said Vern Gosdin's Set Em Up Joe is a great follow up to this, just Heard the world lost Charlie Daniels today please do something by him
Fun fact he gave Loretta Lynn her first big break on the Opry
R.I.P. Charlie Daniels
You've made a start now at listening to the foundations of real country. Keep digging- bc you can't understand any of today's artists and if they are genuine unless you know the originals. Don Gibson,( Sea of Heartbreak) Mel Street, ( Smoky mountain memories) Jack Greene( statue of a fool), Porter Wagoner. ( Carroll county accident) Tom T Hall...( Homecoming, So many!) Roger Miller ( king of the road).. You'll see why people like the old stuff better.
He once said the reason he became so big was people could sing along and sound better than he did
Hey Don! How about you play a Charlie Daniels song. He died today at 83 years old.

Oh no.
Don, If you like good story telling country, you should react to Watertown by Nathan Hamilton and No Deal.
Check out who's gonna take your garbage out with him and loretta or Sweet Thang
The nickname may have come from his bands ban the texas trubadors
😩😩😩😩😩
that type of sound is called texas swing.....bob wills is the king
