I wish every radio station, music venue, etc in the world would play this to the whole world over and over until it would sink in that beauty and wholeness and sanctity could be ours if only we would get out of our own ways and allow it to be! I am a singer in high school. I watched this video today and had chills down my whole body. I also had tears my eyes because I know that what we do as singers brings people together and has the power to make them realize that hate can disappear and we can love one another through the power of music. Thank you for making something so beautiful and sharing it with the world ♥️

Was this work absolutely beautiful to listen to? Yes. Did it bring tears to my eyes? Yes, but this singing will not stop real hate. Perhaps you have a superficial understanding of why people hate each other. This world is not made up of "one" people, we are all different and unique. Why do you think everyone is talking about diversity and inclusion; answer: it's because humans are not all the same. We have different values, morals, and different needs -- and when these values clash we get conflict, brutal conflict. Revolving this conflict with take a lot more than just singing to resolve.

I had to read the comments to find exactly the one I was thinking in my mind. This one was the one. THANKYOU for saying it for me. But one day, I will be singing with those legions of angels and humans, with voices blending in the most beautiful sound in all of time and space. That is heaven indeed.

My daughter was asked to participate in this by a dear friend - one of the beautiful sopranos. my friend hasnt seen it because she is fighting for her life...one of the COVID frontliners who fell ill. For too long a moment, it was touch and go. I don’t really believe in signs but seeing this made me believe she will get better. There is hope in music and beauty. Thank you for this, Eric 💚

Maris, I hope ur friend gets well soon ! I got the Covid Feb 14th, before anyone knew what it was. Later I was tested positive. It was really hard! I still have lung problems/fatigue/lost my alto voice. I am a old woma W/ many, many health problems. UR freind will sing again! We need her buetiful voice.Have the hospital play this on a loop 4 her. I believe this song has healing powers !!! All u all r in my prayers... ❤🎵🎶 God speed. 💚

One of the Sopranos here!! My Mum heard this on Classic FM in the UK a few days ago and immediately called me (I live on the east coast of the USA.) "I just heard your song on the radio! " she said excitedly. Her excitement made me very, very happy. You see, just over a year ago, my Mum had a major stroke that has left her paralyzed down her left side and she has been suffering from major depression because of it - she now lives in a nursing home and has to rely on our brave frontline workers to care for nearly all her needs. I hadn't heard her be this animated in almost 18 months. So, to bring this much joy to my Mum, I am beyond grateful to Eric Whitacre; his beautiful wife, Laurence; his team; and all the other 17,571 singers who dedicated their time & commitment to making a beautiful piece of art that made at least one lovely lady happy. Thanks to everyone involved. xx

Angels, I heard angels. I've watched it over and over, and everytime I listen, the tears just stream down my face. It spoke to my soul and filled me with a love I've never felt before, indescribable. This morning I learned of this. Texted my daughter who has a great voice. "Did you hear about this?" Response: Dad , I'm part of this. So beautiful. Incredible. Just wish there was more.

In quantum physics, there is such thing as coherence. Coherence is when a group of drummers are playing in rythym at the same time. If one was out of tune, it wouldn't sound nice. You are in fact a body of energy. Either living as a coherent being, in tune. Or incoherently, out of tune and rythym. You can move into rythym by opening your focus to the space around you and moving into a state of love. Just like these singers, singing from their hearts. And them all coming together as one to make a beautiful symphony. Imagine if all lived with love in their hearts at the same time. What World would we live in? What World would you live in? I had an amazing experience years ago at a vocal workshop where 3 other women and I vocalized while beating on one drum...no rehearsal, no spoken words...just voices, drumming in profound synchronicity. The entire group held the silence after we concluded, and the effect was profound...one I'll always cherish

I remember when it was still lockdown all around, I couldn’t see my hubby who was living in a different country at that time, I couldn’t go to church, I couldn’t visit my family who was living in another city, nor could I see my friends. Music, that has been a huge part of my life was also been taken away since all choir practices been cancelled. Then I found this video. Then all I remembered was I replayed the video for many times and I cried in every time I replayed it. Thank you Eric, your work brings peace, joy, and strength in the hardest time of my life.

It was a pleasure to participate in this wonderful worldwide choir... And singing this beautiful piece of art that sounds like heaven 💫🦋... Imagine there's no countries... Sing as one...🎈

So sad that in the current situation singing together is one of the most dangerous things we could do. At least we could all sing separately, safely and have it all put together thanks to Eric.

I wasn´t sure, whether I could listen through it all without crying. Now I know: I can´t. The sheer beauty is the one thing. But the idea of so many people singing gently as one. poeple from different nations, cultures and religions - as one, while the world around seems to become crazier and hatefuller every day, is such an incredible sign of hope and love. I saw the special on CBS Good Morning program this morning. I have been listening to it over and over in my backyard this evening loudly so if anyone was out they too might hear it. I sent it to every one on my email listing so they can enjoy it also. It is such a beautiful, melodic and peaceful piece, I cannot get enough of it. Thanks to everyone for supplying their parts to make this such a masterpiece! And praise to the engineers that put it all together for everyone to enjoy!

I totally feel for you, I sung this a lot on the ward I work on - I was doing a lot of night shifts while recording this - it definitely got me through. It was nice to sing it around the hosptial :-) Hope you are okay and sleeping well now!

Me too Nora. As a music educator in public schools, CoVid took the act of singing for so long (safety first). It was so gut wrenching to not be able to sing with my kids. When I first heard and saw this, I literally cried. This also became my lullaby for sleep as well. Thanks for all you did and do.

IMAGINE no borders, all colors and ages good to each other, caring for each other, unified in loving purpose! That would be a description of a world-wide family of singers, yes, but primarily teachers. WHO ARE WE?

This is not our voices. It's the sound of beautiful humanity!

It’s been 2 years since I sang in this majestic chorus and I am still in tears… 😭 If you ever wanna know what the heavenly choir looks and sounds like… this is a good example… this is a song about unity… all ages, races, ethnicities… together as ONE!

I legitimately think I can hear myself so clearly! What a wonderful experience to sing gently as one!

Me too. I can even hear one little mistake I made (singing a "t" one sec.to late). 😁 And a friend who didn't know I participated said the same, that he can hear me. He knows my voice very well. Weird. Guess it's because we are one. 🎶🌎

I can’t believe how beautifully moving this piece is. EricWhitacre is a brilliant composer and a wonderful man. The team who made this happen behind the scenes should be applauded for their fine work on this project! So thrilled and honored to be a voice of many in this amazing work of art!

I've sung in choirs some 32 years and have conducted a church choir for about 6 years. I love composers like Eric Whitacre, Ola Gjielo, Dan Forrest, Rob Gardner, John Rutter, and others. This was my first time doing a VC. What a privilege it was to be a part of this! While singing solo and submitting a video recording pales in comparison to a real choir experience, I enjoyed the unity of this unique experience. After eight or nine takes, and staying up until 2 AM the day before the deadline, I added my small Bass II contribution and became yet another point of light amidst the sea 17500+ other singers and signers who shared their talent and love for good choral music and the beauty of artistic expression. Well done to all my other virtual choir mates, to the production crew who put it together, and especially Eric for composing it! I spent over an hour listening to this marvelous recording again and again Sunday night while reading everyone's beautiful comments and contemplating God's goodness. I strongly believe God inspired Eric to write this piece precisely at a time when the world needed it the most. God was not surprised by the pandemic, by riots, divisive politics etc. I believe he prepares beacons of light like this in advance of such events. Stars shine the brightest in the dark of night. The darkness reveals their brightness all the more. Thank you all for being stars and lighting up the night. Let us all sing forever gently as one! May God bless and keep you all!

I was fortunate to be a part of this...it came at a time after I had just lost my husband 2 months prior....being a part of this put a song back in my heart. And now, listening to it again, I cannot help but cry--overcome by the sheer beauty and simplicity of this piece. I'm getting chills! We all came together regardless of race, religion, location, gender. We set our differences aside to unite our voices to "sing gently" this beautiful song. I've been reading through all of your beautiful comments and they have brought me to tears numerous times. I am honored to have been part of VC6 Sing Gently as an Alto under the wonderful Maestro Eric Whitacre. I feel so humbled to know that we have touched so many of your lives in such profound ways. I am personally glad we could bring you some peace and joy in this difficult time. In a time when we are so divided what we all need is to 'Sing Gently As One', but that is not just referring to singing, but living gently and being gentle with yourself. We are going through a time when history is being made and each day is a new challenge. We live in a world vastly different from the one at the beginning of this year, it is filled with unfathomable uncertainty, anxiety, stress, sadness, and divisiveness. I am blessed to be part of this good piece of history that is bringing some sort of peace to thousands the world over. I was saddened to have missed the last 5 and had promised myself that I would be part of the next one, then Sing Gently came about and I knew I had to take part. I didn't just find a choir though, I found a community of people that have truly become like a family, and I am so grateful every day for that community. Sing Gently came to me in a time when I was struggling so much dealing with the second anniversary of my older sister's death, her 30th birthday, my 28the birthday making me as old as she was when she passed, and the depression, stress, and anxiety that all brought about. It brought me peace, hope, and happiness and I hope it can do the same for all of you. I hope we all get to sing together in a VC7 and that by that time we will all be able to Sing As One together in person again. I know I look forward to that day. Thank you for all of your thoughtful, inspiring, and soulful comments. Please keep sending them, I know our community enjoys reading them. We are blessed to have the support of each one of you. This is what heaven sounds like.

I'm crying again... Every time when I listen to this song I remember the beginning of the first wave of the pandemic in my country. I was so lucky to participate in this project; it will be an everlasting memory of a special event in a lifetime. It raised me up in an insecure, scary period and I thank Eric Whitacre for creating this almost religious experience.❤️

The 10 year old version of me knew it was a dream to help produce this kind of sound. Eric Whitacre thank you for giving me the privilege to sing as a tenor in this beautiful choir at the age of 28 years old.

Irene Shettle . Thanks for being part of our VC6 family! Maybe post your pic and I can help you look. An idea: grab an Iphone or your Hi Def camera, take a screenshot of the screens where all of us are slowly scrolling down to become that final collage. Then in your spare time, look at each photo and screen enlarge. You won’t see it very clearly but you will be able to see faces. Good luck!

@@fr.wilfredocontreras7272 Thanks ... I don't have an iPhone or a Hi Def camera. I have downloaded the photos that one of our number put onto Dropbox with the intention of looking at them later ... but at the moment there are so many other things to do which, despite being in self-isolation due to being one of the clinically vulnerable ones and staying at home most of the time, seem not to have got done!! It would be interesting to "find myself" (I find that the repeated use of that phrase keeps making me laugh - I know where I am, sitting right here on the sofa! LOL) However, I know that I am in there, my name is on the credits, and I know that I took part in something huge and rather important ... it'll suffice. I'm not too sure where I have stored my video, so sending you a shot at the moment would be difficult. I will bear your kind offer in mind! In the meantime - sing gently ! :-)

Because of quarantine i had to miss my first states solo and ensemble competion. I havent the oppertunity to practice singing as much and i had kind of forgotten what a choir sounded like. Thank you Eric Whitacre for helping me remember again

My sentiments EXACTLY, now 3 years after the rough Covid shutdown. This has surfaced again by Eric Whitacre and Voces8! Don’t miss it! I specifically texted my daughters yesterday to please sing this at my funeral!! ❤❤❤❤

I also noted there are kids around 12-13 y/o (?) up to grandmas and grandpas with EVERYTHING in between! I just love how singing brings a whole cross section of humanity together! I wish all of us, the whole planet, could see ourselves this way.

I take and welcome your hopeful sentiment. That said, the variety of hues of humankind are all beautiful and can be seen as they are and be appreciated. The human race is indeed one; neither we nor God need be color-blind or deny external traits to appreciate, love, embrace, and respect each and every individual, color and all.

Still humbled by this music. I was with the group from invitation to conception to its culmination online. This music has never failed to bring tears in my eyes. I will never forget the pandemic and how it all broke us into pieces. How it hurted us all and made us helpless in our own time and spaces. After this music, months after I had stroke. After a couple of years, just July 27 I lost my mother. So much pain. But I always look back how this music by Eric saved my life once. I'm forever grateful to this music. It has a pain but it brings light in all darkness I was in. Thank you for the gently touching my life and to others as well. Forever thankful to the Sing Gently batch and to Maestro Eric. Beautiful! I know now much work this is and now daunting it is for the choral singer to sing "exposed" via his/her submission. Nothing beats making music in person with other musicians, but I am thankful for this technology especially during this awful pandemic.

I've never cried at a piece of music before, but this is just how heaven would sound like. What beauty created by the best of the human race 💙

This is my favorite comment. Everyone I know is connected to the performing arts and we grieve our temporary mutedness but we are NOT silent. We WILL sing , with power and healing, and until it can come from our voices it comes from our hearts.
