affirm heaven with hell, eh?

Performed this with a choir of approximately two hundred people a year ago. It's a powerful piece that made me tear up on stage, and piece that still gives me major chills every time I hear it.

In these trying times in 2020, I go back to these Virtual Choirs to remind myself, and anyone reading this, that we can connect across the globe. We can do better, y'all. We can be united in moments like these in ways that would've blown the minds of our ancestors.

I’ve just today discovered Eric’s virtual choirs. April 2020 in lockdown due to coronavirus for three weeks now. Marvellous music created by people separated by distance but with the same love for music and their fellow humans.

Saw this last night...300 singers...Ball State University...Muncie, Indiana...my daughter in the choir...Eric Whitacre conducting...I am forever changed...

It's nighttime & it's so beautiful that tears are falling down & the night becomes indeed "water night". 😭😍💯

Eric did four of these Virtual Choir projects. Each one bigger than the one before. Not bad for a guy who came to U. Las Vegas to study something else and was almost tricked into joining the university choir. the rest is history.

@@Lala-jl7mi I too see us on this tiny lifeboat we named Earth as one speck of dust awakening and coming to awareness. The Universe is self aware. Lala I'm no longer alone in knowing this. I know you're out here somewhere and we share these thoughts.

I remember very fondly recording my part for this choir with multiple friends of mine. I still come back to this video and get chills down my spine knowing that I was a part of this incredible adventure.

Oh and I also had the honour to sing in the bass section of the virtual choir of the song so that's another reason why the song means a lot to me.Write on Eric Whitacre write on!!!

Bringing nearly 4000 people from around the globe to prove to us the power of human voice, history has a place for you Eric :)

My grandfather passed away today at 1:43 AM... The day before my band teacher showed me this song and so... here i am again... Thank you

I still get chills from this.. and i was a part of it.

This stirs my soul, we are so connected through vibration and love, this is like a host of heavenly angels!

I heard this and can'r t stop crying. This is what the pandermic has given us an awaking to be human.

whether a person chooses to believe in God or not, the reality to me is that the door of heaven has been left open and we are allowed to experience a bit of it in the here and now. all of Eric's music cuts to the core of my soul and spirit.

When you don't see what they wear.. or look like, or where they are from, you only hear the beauty of their voices. We are all ONE and can be one nation on earth. No wars, no hatred. Only love.

We should do this in the next Olympics event where every country comes together. Each athlete, coach, staff, fans, everyone in the statium should learn and follow one song and sing it together to melt everyone's heart. Lets do this!

I had the pleasure of performing this song my junior year of high school and it is super gorgeous and super powerful when done right. I love this song because it holds a special place in my heart. Well done all of you.

Absolutely stunning. That so many beautiful voices could collaborate, without having ever met, is a miracle. God certainly had His hand in all of this: the vocals, the edit, the written music. Just beautiful. Thanks you all of you performers, and to Mr. Whitacre and his staff.

My eyes were watering up while I listened to this.

Eric Whitacre's music was introduced to me at a very trying time of my life "Water night" was the first song I heard after the death of my younger brother. I fell deeply in love with this song because it helped me when I really was at my lowest point I think God for Eric Whitacre's music and maybe they will give me another chance to audition because I wasn't able to audition at the time that I was really in contact with Mr Whitaker's management but water night is a very special song for me.

There is no sound more ethereal than a huge choir! Brilliant, love it. encore!

I saw this in music class today and I'm watching it at my house. Gonna show my parents and tell them to show their friends. This also reminds me of my dog Lily. She ran away two nights ago. This song gives me hope she'll come back.

I totally agree about Lux Aurumque with the virtual choir. Every time I listen I get chills and choked up. What fantastic discord and resolution; it vibrates the soul.

The music makes consonant and dissonant harmonies be more alike than opposite each other, beautifully joined and wonderfully orchestrated vocal sounds to be heard over and over.

I have just discovered Eric Whitacre. This music brings tears of joy and awe to my eyes. It shifts things inside that I can't explain. Such beautiful chord progressions. I'm at a loss for words.

now i want to see a piece written where all singers and musicians could do this from all over the world thousands of drums and every kind of instrument with tens of thousands of voices all working together making a song so incredible that words could never express it this is truly beyond awesome

Eric Whitacre is brilliant and his music is stunning...and this virtual choir is a great achievement for the 21st century. Imagine bringing all these people together from all over the world...Bravo, Eric!

Zach Skiles , it touches one's soul..music transcends cultural and language barriers..always has. : ) Sometimes you hear particular strains in a completely different language, and yet it has this amazing capability to move you to tears...it truly is amazing.

All faiths, all colors, all people...singing as one. Doesn't get any better than that.

And it is done through music... If anyone says music doesn't bring us closer together, s/he is wrong. This is absolutely beautiful!

This is so beautiful sounds amazing voice.

These videos are awesome and chilling, but i want to see the timeline of the video project! Imagine having to sync and key over THREE THOUSAND channels of audio and video. I just unwittingly grabbed my coffee at the very thought.

The way it's recorded by each Singer definitely helps with syncing. You're singing along with a video of Eric conducting and a backing track too.

I had the pleasure of being one of the first high schools in the nation to sing this song. I had a great teacher.

If only this was live. Seeing this many people singing this song together would be... so amazing I couldn't describe

I listened to this in choir today and I was left speechless. Its just so amazing

For a really long time I have been interested in writing really dissonant harmonic passages, and when I discovered Eric Whitacre I was in heaven. I'm just glad that some people recognize the beauty in otherwise less beautiful chords.

This is one of the most beautiful choral pieces ever written. I love to go back and revisit the transcendent beauty of its text and music married together perfectly. Just what I needed to hear tonight!

Beauty is in the eye (or ear) of the beholder. Something like this could give someone just as many chills as one of the most exquisite pieces of music on earth.

It's very hard to listen to this without imagining that I'm listening to a beautiful choral chamber choir of angelic singers. Well done! 👼🏻

I LOVE choir music! It has a sense of unity and beauty; the most beautiful moments are not only the harmonizing parts, but the unison parts as well. When they are in unison, the listeners - and maybe even the singers themselves - feel truly connected to the beauty of this world and the wonder of the human voice. Please continue to make these beautiful videos, which can easily cause soft tears to enter the inspired eyes!

I sang "Sleep" Baritone and Tenor part at the GA All State Choir in 2007 and I can truly say it was powerful. Inspired me to become the Music Vocal Ed Major I am today. I have the sheet music still to this day. I always get chills listening to this
