Father Mike Schmitz in The bible in a year videos. Told about this video. That it also is like God crying "my son" when Jesus was crucified and died. This is powerful.

I was fortunate enough to perform this piece with a director who demanded perfection and it was so moving I could barely get through it without weeping myself, especially since I'm a mom. This is the most tender, beautiful, heart rending work I've ever heard. It's magnificent and heart breaking at the same time.

Yes, I’m here because of Fr. Mike. I wonder if he realizes the enormity of the impact his suggestion has made. This illicites so much pain. The loss of my granddaughter. All this pain flooded my soul. I needed to acknowledge the pain. I needed to feel it to feel God’s comfort. Thank you, Fr. Mike. ❤

I, too, lost my son……by suicide in the military………..I would wrap myself in an old sweater……..hug myself and walk through the house for hours saying…. “ my baby my baby my son my son”. 8 years later I still say “ my son my son”……this song is amazing💔💔💔

There are so many points in this song where it seems like David is going to come to terms with his grief and suffering, but then it starts up again, even more powerful. That is a perfect example of how the grief of losing a child or a love one is, you never really get over it, it remains, sometimes quiet, until you are reminded of it and it start anew, but fortunate the love of the Father is steadfast and he is there weeping with you and longs to comfort you.

I see many of us have come from the Bible in a Year with Fr. Mike Schmitz. It’s so powerful to listen to when put into context with the inspiration from 2 Samuel 18-19. Blessings to all.

I'm in tears. The portrayal of grief as a chaotic ocean with huge waves. God this hurts (in a therapeutic way, but still)

I sang this song in a choir over 20 years ago in high school. I had tears running down my face at the performance. Nothing compares to the feeling when you are inside a large choir and voices blend to create the emotion intended by the composer. It was an extremely powerful experience for my young impressional self.
