The Irish Blessing - over 300 churches from our island sing a blessing over Ireland and beyond ...

Premiered Pentecost Sunday, 31 May - 9:45am I/BST
The Irish Blessing (Beannacht uile-Éireann) is a project inspired by the many international recordings of "The Blessing” (by Cody Carnes, Kari Jobe and Elevation Worship) which have been made during this time of pandemic. We wanted to honour that inspiration, whilst at the same time, honouring the unique history and culture of our island. So we chose a song that would resonate across the island, with every denomination and cultural grouping, one that could be used as a platform to sing a Blessing over our land, all our key-workers and those they are caring for. “Be Thou My Vision” is just such a hymn written over 1000 years ago. It reminds us of the One to whom we should look in this time of pandemic, whose presence is our light, the source of our wisdom, in whom we find our treasure and where we find victory.
Individuals from 300 Christian churches and organisations located in every county on the island submitted self-recordings of vocals and instruments which have been compiled by our creative team to produce this music video - we hope you receive a blessing as you watch it.

I'm a 31 year old American man, father, and husband. I can't remember the last time I cried, but this song brought me to tears. I don't even really know why. Seeing them sing together just feels like one family, my family. Even though they're all different and unique, they are together as sisters and brothers. Amen!

The new song got the "Christ be with you, Christ be in you' from the 6th century Irish Prayer of St Patrick" so in a sense its the original used in here.
My dad was Irish through and through. He died when I was 8. Now 17. Looking through a photo book and saw the Irish blessing printed on the back of his celebration of life. God bless our ancestors.🇮🇪

Im from England and one of my family members on my mums side was one of the founding members of the IRA. I was also born on Saint Patricks day so its like God was honoring that, God is good :)

I discovered I am half Irish. And, I am a saved believer in Jesus, my Lord. I was thinking recently just how "good" the Irish are in the overview of their history going as far back as Saint Patrick (who came as a missionary from Roman Britain). They are a peaceful people and family loving and humble and love their own country. And I am applying for dual citizenship from the US through descent from my grandmother. She was from Kinvara, County Galway. Proud to be Boston Irish! But prouder still to be Irish!

Hi Sydney I am Irish but St Patrick was kidnapped from Wales as a young boy and was enslaved to attend farm animals ,only after his escape did he return to Ireland to convert the Irish people. I am not disrespecting my country but history is facts...not the story we would like it to be...my name is O Reilly and m thestory goes back to Niall of the nine hostages who has been associated with his kidnapping...not proud of it but it was a common practice back in the day...lots of kidnapping between Algeria and Ireland through history also...a reason perhaps why there is so much similarity between a Gaelic and Arabic...fascinating..check it out

@@jacquelineoreilly8555 I forgot this history! And you are right. Saint Patrick was kidnapped and for years was a slave, then he escaped, and by this time he could speak Gaelic. I am researching my ancestry. Last night I discovered that three of my four grandparents are Irish. I was born a Smith. My mom remarried and us children agreed to be adopted as Frissells. I am getting closer to where in Ireland my ancestors were from. I had Hannas and Smiths from Northern Ireland, and Lydons from Galway. I find genealogy very fascinating! Irish genealogy is extremely difficult, and American genealogy is extremely easy! I have relatives (cousins) descended from the Lydons who are O’Kellys and O’Connors.

This is a remarkable song: We have “Be Thou My Vision”, which comes from St. Patrick in 432AD! Then, we have the St. Patrick Version of Ephesians 6: “Put on the full armor of God!” That is, put on the Armor of St.Patrick! Then, we have the ending, the Aaronic Blessing, from Numbers 6:23-27! Great song! And my people, the Irish, are honored! And nobody has more fun, in singing this one, than the Irish!!

When speaking of God, it may become apparent to be humble, in the respect of knowing nothing of any actual facts. For how could one know anything of full truth when towards God? It is assumptions for a being(?) that is so much more.

The unity of this choir makes it seem that such well synchronized singing is easy. It is very difficult! The coordination shown here exhibits the talent of these singers, the leader, and film editor. This represents many, many hours of work, and we listeners appreciate the effort!
