This video explains episode 16 of Attack on Titan season 4, in which Marley began their attack on Paradis island. In ‘Above and Below’ the Yaegerists finalised their takeover of the island, with Eren now seeking to locate the Marlyean spies on Paradis. Zeke is possibly saved from certain death by a mysterious girl and a pure titan. Meanwhile Pieck and Porco infiltrate Paradis and ambush Eren.

Episode 16 of AOT the final season was called Above and Below.
The episode begins with the sound of Zeke's thunderspear detonating, which was enough to get the attention of Hange and the Yeagerista. As we know, Hange is one of the handful of people that knew where Zeke was being held hostage. Zeke briefly sees a vision of a random girl holding a bucket, and she has a similar hairstyle to this mural of the original founding titan Ymir. In the last episode we discovered that Zeke’s true intention is to eliminate the eldian race, therefore saving the world from the titans and saving eldians from their suffering. The only people who knew about that true plan were the Yeager brothers themselves and Yelena, because she was the one that told eren about it during their secret meeting. Other volunteers like Onyankopon had absolutely no idea.
Previously we saw that after Eren ordered Armin and Mikasa to also be sent to shiganshina, which is why they’re locked up in an underground prison. Unlike the warhammer titan, Armin can’t use his shifter powers to escape without killing everybody, so they really are just stuck in here until further notice. Shiganshina is likely the place the Zeke and Eren agreed to meet each other, so it’s interesting that he would also demand that Armin and Mikasa be sent to that same location as well.
Eren shows up and asks Gabi to help him to locate the Marlyean invaders, considering that both Pieck and Porco had already infiltrated the walls. If you’ve seen my video about the cart titans then you’ll know it has the be adise to the walls. Porco presumably rode on her back, but what they couldn’t avoid was that her titan footprints would be left behind in the grass. One of the Yaegerists must’ve discovered those massive prints and reported this back to eren, which is why he was certain that they’d been infiltrated. However, he didn’t even have time for Gabi to help him before Pieck finally makes her appearance and kills a guard immediately. She’s wearing the military police uniform, showing that in between this scene and this scene, she likely took out another MP and swapped clothes. Despite two guns being pointed at him, Eren seemed pretty certain that he wouldn’t die, cause he believed the warriors were told to reclaim the founding titan rather than simply killing him. We know this theory is true because earlier this season, Magath stated that killing the founder would only postpone the problem and that Marley needs to gain the founding titan for itself. Therefore Eren’s theory here is entirely correct, as both Pieck and Gabi would be in serious trouble if they broke the rules in such an outrageous way.
From the start, Pieck’s real goal was to lure Eren into a position where Porco could eat him and she did this in a very clever way. By pretending that she was working against Marley, it was enough to gain Eren’s curiosity. Yes he didn’t trust her, but he was still intrigued as to whether or not she was willing to expose her comrades. She promised to expose the location of the spies on Paradis, and on the way there she saw Porco in the crowd and signalled to him where they were going.
He attached Pieck to Gabi with handcuffs to ensure that she wouldn’t transform into the cart titan because the explosive transformation would kill the warrior candidate immediately. During their walk to the roof, it’s clear that neither she nor Marley know why Zeke has such special powers but she was clever enough to speculate that he can draw out the founding titans abilities. Time and time again she has proven to be the most observant of the current warriors, AND on this occasion it was because she always felt like Zeke was telling lies, until the time they encountered eren in season 3.

Honestly my favorite moment in this episode! Followed by the close up on Eren with the superb new war audio. The SAME audio that was used on the first episode of this season when Zeke used his Scream to transform skydiving Eldians over the fort. Truly intense!!!

Something I wish you analyzed: Armin started crying because he finally realized that Eren is just using Zeke. He knows that Eren is a fighter who would never submit, give up, or die without a fight. Once he heard Zeke's plan he instantly knew that Eren would never follow that plan as it goes against everything that Eren stands for. So really, Armin is crying out of relief. He obviously had to lie to Yelena about it.

I’m a pretty casual anime viewer so I checked out some of the highly revered ones during quarantine, decided to give Attack On Titan a shot and I never expected to like it this much! AOT definitely brought that HBO drama caliber quality in full swing and now I’m depressed I have to wait a whole year for the real ending😭

Aot definitely has a way with being nonchalant. A Good example would be with the reveal of the armour and colossal titan when Reiner and bertdholt telling Eren in the background while the focus of the scene is a conversation between mikasa armin and hange. Just very random.

One thing that I wanted to point out is that entrance of Galliard from below the roof resembles to that of Eren's titan coming out of that big building that we all saw earlier. The similarity depicts how badly (in similar way Eren did to them) Marley wants to take their revenge now.

@zxl. March 2022 is a year from now, it wouldn't be animated by then which is already a year so I don't know where you're getting "under a year". That's not even considering that March and April are not winter so you'd have to add a couple of months onto that, which is as everyone has been saying, over a year.

To be fair, she did admit that she doesn't trust Marley, but rather her comrades who've stuck with her through thick and thin. And I don't know if she's exactly willing to switch up as of yet considering it might put her father in danger. Just my two cents though👍
