ER Doctors & PAs are BRAINWASHED
ER doctors, ER Physician Assistants, and ER Nurse Practitioners must speak up. Somehow something as pervasive as this seems to be the norm in our specialty. I am taking a stance on a benefit we could all use.

No PTO for me in the Emergency Department. Now I switched to Urgent Care and get 3 weeks PTO plus sick time.
Been doing EM 3.5 years. I get 5 weeks PTO. I’m in Southern California.
Currently at an EM job that offers 28 days PTO/yr and increases with time employed by the organization. It’s a unicorn for sure, every other job I’ve seen when I was previously looking offered either zero PTO or something absurd like 16 hour PTO accrued per year or LESS. I just took a new job which has this model, less than a day a year of actual PTO, absolutely ridiculous. I will be advocating for PTO and speaking to the other providers about it when I begin

Yes, advocacy is all we have. When enough people speak up, we can maybe get some change to happen
I am an ER PA outside Philly, we are offered 80 hours (2 weeks) PTO our first year and 120 hours (3 weeks) starting year 2
