I decided I need to educate myself on areas in my life that need some serious makeovers LOL. Money being the biggest one 🤗 would hate to go back to SA and sill find myself in the same situation I was in with my financial behaviour and health before Korea🤐

Hi Khethukuthula, there was a new Korean act of law that came into place governing how agencies work with the Korea. Government. Agencies had to reapply to be contracted with EPIK under this new law. Korvia made the cut others didn’t. But with this new application for Feb 2023: Korean Horizon has also been added to the list. You can see the list of approved agencies on the epik website 😋

Hi Annah, just want to find out when sending documents to EPIK: do you send copies (excluding transcripts) of everything?

Hey Tumi, your are not sending copies. You will be sending your apostille documents. Here are the steps you will follow: goldkeyeducation.com/goldkey-epik.html Click this site scroll down to where it says compulsory application documents. It will tell you exactly what to do with each document 😋 once you have each one and you have passed your interview you send this to Epik

Which website did you use sisi for applying for your flights? Also, since you didn't get placed the second time. Would you say the submission deadline (31st December) for Spring is realistic? In that one still has a chance for placement if they submit on that day?

Hi Nompilo, there is is a site called cheap flights which allowed me to compare the price of all the airlines, at that time emirates was cheapest for me (I looked at price, the countries I would need to lay over in and airline reputation ) December is pretty late in the game, but according to their website application submission happens between Aug - Jan, so you would still be able to submit an application. As for what are your chances, I unfortunately can’t answer this. It’s hard to say, it depends on a number of factors : how many positions there are. Currently I haven’t been asked if I’m renewing my contract or not (I assume this will happen between now and December ) so EPIK knows how many current teachers from my intake they need to replace. Another factor is have they found teachers that meet their needs by the time you submit? Or are they still looking. Another factor could be that teachers cancel their contract last minute or applicants change their minds, or the country needs more teachers - I really can’t say 🤷🏾‍♀️ what I can say is if you are only going to be starting with your documentation process in December you may not make the documentation deadline. I’d say if applications are still open, shoot your shot. If you get accepted, great pack your bags. If not you can wait for the next intake or look at going with hagwons that recruit all year round. This is just my opinion 🌸

@@nompilosibiya8373 don’t wait for all your documents to be ready. Submit your application now. Documentation are only needed once you pass your interview. So get your application in and interview done in the meantime. That way you can get your acceptance into the program now. Documentation only comes later

Hi Kim I did mine through Tefl on beach. They had a deal on daddy deals. So if you go onto daddy deals online courses you’ll find deals on there 😋

Hi, with EPIK specifically no. However teachers have come to teach here from other countries but through hagwons (private schools) and international schools

Hi Lindani, 1st application - passed the interview and sent my docs to Korea but at the time SA got the 2nd coronavirus variant and as a result of this uncertainty, EPIK then decided to defer all South African applicants to the 2nd intake 2nd Application - passed the interview, sent my documents but didn’t get placed. My agency advised first come first serve could be the reason so I guess positions were filled 3rd application- passed interview, sent docs then finally got placed 🥳

You could apply now and another person applies a month later, you both pass the interview and need to courier your documents but your documents are taking a little bit longer where as the other person has all of their documents so they get placed before you 😌 once you’ve made the decision that this is what you want to do, getting moving on the documentation required and applying 😋 for me I’m not sure if it was the application timing or getting my documents to Korea 🤷🏾‍♀️

Some agency will charge you, others don’t. The agency I applied with didn’t. And the agency recruiting for EPIK who is listed on their website doesn’t charge you. Agency working directly with EPIK is Korvia consulting www.korvia.com
