it's currently monsoon season here in korea, so the lighting is terrible 😭 grab a snack or something because it's a bit of a long video lol. as always, if you have any questions, leave a comment below or message me!

    Thanks so much for making this video. I'm in the process of waiting for my placement and I am wondering about when I should send in my Tax form for the double taxation exemption (US). Since you didn't have your contract as yet, you didn't know your exact start and end date when you mailed in your Tax form 8802, right? Did you just put Month and Year in the "Statement" that you have to write on the form? Like for example, since you started in March 2019, did you put in your tax form penalties of perjury statement (March 2018 to March 2019). Sorry if my questions is a bit odd. I am just trying to be as safely as possible ahead of the process since there are so many delays with COVID. Thanks so much. :)

    Hi Anne! Your video has been really helpful for me! I do have a question about fieldprint. At the bottom of the form online when you sign up, it asks if "* Is this request for employment, licensing, or an apostille?" If you chose "Yes" then it says "Fieldprint is prohibited from processing requests for employment, volunteering, licensing or an apostille." I'm just wondering what you chose. I'm also debating to chose "personal review" vs. "live, work, or travel in a foreign country" if there's any problems.

    So I'm planning on applying for the fall intake (opens in February), I've been gathering my documents for it but I'm kind of unsure if I should get a tefl certification or a teaching license. Do you mind me asking where you got your teaching certificate and the process? Also, I live in Texas and will be graduating in May, so I might have to get certified while attending school. + Thank you so much. I really appreciate how informative this video is, it was helpful in so many ways. It eased some nervousness I had while preparing for the application process.

  • @heyitsanne

    in order to get a teaching license, you need to complete the courses necessary for that teaching program and a student teaching internship before graduating (which is a semester long). i did mine at my university since my degree was in secondary science education. if you are pressed for time, a TEFL is your best bet! you can find tons online. any will do as long as they fit EPIK's requirements. unfortunately, i don't have one to recommend since i didn't go through the TELF route :( thank you so much! i'm really glad my videos are helpful and informative for you!💞

I know they pay you in your Korean bank acct but my biggest thing is I want to be able to transfer a majority of my check to my American bank acct so when I go back home, my money is all there saved up... how do I go about that? Also, are you limited on the amount of suitcases you can bring? I feel like I’m going to need a duffel bag or something just for my hair products. My last question.. I know I want to start in September. When do they open up for that time so we can start applying? Like in January ?

  • @heyitsanne

    @heyitsanne

    4 жыл бұрын

    i’m actually thinking of making a video all about banking and sending money home since i get questions about that often. and it’s a lot to explain in a comment haha. for your bags, it just depends on the airline you decide to fly with. when flying from the states to asia, usually you’re allowed 2 checked bags, a carry on, and a personal bag. some people chose to check in extra bags (that’s an extra fee) but just know it may be hard to carry all of those bags around orientation and to your apartment. it’s possible but a handful lol september for epik would be fall late intake (main intake is around august) so the application period starts in february (check the epik website just to make sure tho). i would start getting letters of recommendation, tefl (if you need it), apostilling diploma (if you have it already) in january.

  • @heyitsanne

    @heyitsanne

    4 жыл бұрын

    asiphe sibali it’s not too late! you may be able to still get main intake, but it is also possible that you may either be put as late intake or wait listed for next fall. a lot of people have been applying lately so it’s taking a while for epik to respond to all of the applications. i would personally suggest applying at the verrrry beginning of next intake (so you have a better chance at the location you want), unless you don’t mind but if you want to be in korea much sooner, hagwons are an option. there are also other public school programs. the GOE program hires year round every month :)

  • @heyitsanne

    @heyitsanne

    4 жыл бұрын

    i think i mentioned it in the video (can't remember 😅) but really it's up to you if you want to have a recruiter or not. i did and it worked for me, but it wasn't necessary because i did so much research. i was always a step ahead of my recruiter. if you want that guidance, then sure! but just know going with a recruiter puts you about a month behind direct applicants, even if you apply from the very start
